We bought a Sinometer JTS1357 Digital Sound Level Meter from a buy.com marketplace seller, HottestDealsEver aka HDE. What we received was an entirely different and inferior device. Per buy.com policy, you are on your own if you have a marketplace issue. We contacted HDE and they said it was their mistake and we could return the device. We did, and they refunded us ONLY for the device, I'm out $11 in shipping because of their error."
"THIS COMPANY IS A SHAM! I ordered a first generation ipad for my mother on 9/06/2011, I received an email confirming the shipment date; 9/09/2011. I have called on a weekly basis inquiring about the ipad and each time I was told they would contact the seller and get back to me via email within 1 day. Not once did I receive a response. Finally, they gave me the "direct" number to the seller, it was a disconnected line. The shipment was promised between 4-14 business days, today is the 17th business day (9/29/2011). This company is a nightmare.

"I bought a pocket knife at a good price. It shipped 2 days later and arrived 3 days after that (standard USPS). The item was packaged safely and was as described on the product page. My only complaint is some of the crap you have to avoid while checking out (warranties, rewards, etc.). Overall, a great transaction."

"Worst customer service out there, I will never purchase from this company again. I paid extra for expedited shipping on a birthday gift (a book). It was to ship UPS, and though I was provided with a tracking number, turns out it was shipped via USPS. After waiting over a week and a half I contacted USPS, where or where was my package? I was told it was being held at the USPS distribution center for 5 to 8 business days. When I asked why, they said I needed to contact the place I purchased it from. After calling Buy.com, and speaking to what sounded like a 2 people in a tunnel (very, very hard to hear) They said nothing they could do. Very disappointing."

"I will NEVER work with buy.com again. I bought a projector screen and paid $50 for 2nd day air. They used some illusive freight company that I had never heard of, never sent me a tracking number, and no way to get in touch with the company delivering it. It arrived in my town on Monday and I had to call Buy.com, wait on hold for 20 minutes then they gave me the freight company's number and I called and scheduled a delivery. They couldn't deliver until the following Friday! I explained that I paid for 2nd day and they said that I would have to call Buy.com to get my shipping money back. So, I waiting until Friday and was home between 8 and 12PM and they never arrived. So, I called the shipping company and waited on hold for 20 minutes to find out that they lost the screen. They told me that I had to wait until they filed a claim then I would have to call Buy.com to re-order. So, I called Buy.com and they apparently said they would follow up and call me yesterday. I never received a call and today via email, I received an Order Cancellation email. Infuriating experience!! Every single person I spoke to at Buy.com promised to call me back. Not one person ever did. I was a very good customer for years but never again."

"STAY AWAY.. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DON'T CARE
It has been a record hot summer here in OK. My air conditioner is working as best it can and can't keep our house cool during the day. I went out and bought the DeLonghi A130HPE Portable Air Conditioner from Buy.com for $509. I thought I couldn't afford a brand new house unit, but I could afford a really good portable unit.
When my order arrived I noticed it was in a Bell Classic Child Carrier box. Then when I lifted the box it did not weigh the 86 pounds the sticker says. It was actually the Bell Classic Child Carrier. I called Buy.com and they told me, "Sorry, we don't have the Air Conditioner that you ordered". But the happily charged my Credit Card and are not going to give me back my $509 until they get their $30 bike carrier back. And in the mean time I have to find another A/C and wait another week for delivery.
I asked how they could be out when they sold me one and shipped me the wrong item. They said, Sorry. Sorry doesn't cut it at this point.
I will never order from them again and recommend you do not order from them as well."
