If it is opened and damaged buy.com has you send it back to get another one, and if the product just doesn't work as stated you can't return it. "On Monday, October 18, 2010, Buy.Com advertised a listing on eBay for a Pentax K-7 Digital SLR camera for a price of $392.99. As a photo enthusiast, I thought this was a great price and an opportunity to upgrade my current older cameras so I ordered two of them. I figured this was a "Clearance" price since the K-7 is being discontinued and replaced by the K-5 which was just released for sale on October 17. I purchased the cameras, paid immediately via my Paypal account to which they debited available funds immediately.
So I waited patiently and much to my dismay, on Friday October 22, I received an email from Buy.Com stating that "We strive for your complete satisfaction. Therefore, we have refunded your order #56786416 in the amount of $785.98." Sure enough...I logged into their site and checked my order status...and the order is showing 'Canceled' and the 'Details' say "We have canceled your order at your request"
Huh? I most certainly did NOT request my order to be canceled. So tell me, how is arbitrarily not honoring your prices "Striving for my complete satisfaction"??? My "Complete Satisfaction" would be for you to honor the contract we entered at the agreed upon price when the transaction was completed, yes, we had a contract when Buy.com accepting actual funds (not a 'pending authorization' from my credit card...this was live money in my Paypal account)
Oh, and Buy.com will say their terms say they reserve the right to do this, calling it a "Pricing Error". I say by placing the listing on eBay that ebay's terms would supercede theirs.
So...the bottom line here folks is...if you see something for a great price on Buy.com's website, or one of their eBay listings, or Amazon listings, etc...you might just want to ask yourself if it's worth the hassle and the possibility of a complete waste of your time, as if you read the fine print, they don't feel they have to honor their advertised prices if they don't want to.
So congrats Buy.com...you've lost a customer...and I'll be telling everyone I know to not bother buying from you as well."

"I ordered this computer for a customer on 10/8. Buy.com sent an email confirming the purchase. 6 days later we had not heard about shipping and I went to the buy.com site and saw the computer we had ordered was out of stock. We contacted buy.com by phone and chat on 10/14 and after discussion canceled the purchase. Since the 15th it has been listed in the account as "cancellation requested". We bought another computer from staples on the 14th. It would have been delivered on the 15th but the hold that buy.com had put on the credit card.. on an item that was out of stock... so my customer had to wait the weekend.. after waiting a week for an out of stock computer. But thats not all! Today, a full week later, my customer gets an email from buy.com saying his computer is on its way! too bad for us! This is just incredible! What kind of business is this? Buy.com, when contacted, just say send it back! Like there is nothing else to worry about. They have charged his card for a computer he canceled a week earlier, caused a problem for purchasing a real computer, and now we have to hope they get around to crediting it back to him. Beware of buy.com
10/28 update: A gift certificate is great except I can not trust buy.com to process my orders. Why should I order from them again?
What the CUSTOMER wants is the charge taken off his credit card! He will have to pay his bill and HOPE buy.com will refund him the money.
The order is still in limbo. UPS shows it sat in SPARKS, NV, US for a week from the 21st to the 26th. It is now sitting in HODGKINS, IL, US for 2 days. Don't tell me this cannot be canceled!
Again the point is buy.com charged my customer for an out of stock computer, that was 'shipped' a week after the order was canceled, and this 'shipped' computer has taken almost 2 weeks to move 4 states. But still buy.com says they cannot cancel the order nor remove the charge from the credit card. So much for customer service from buy.com"
