"I found their practices to be shady. After ordering a Canon PowerShot SD1000 they had me call them to verify my order and then informed me the camera I ordered was supposedly an import model and only came with a "starter" battery. Therefore, if I wanted a "real" battery I would need to buy one or upgrade to the US model. The website did not distinguish between various models or indicate that the camera came with a "starter" battery. I've never heard of a reputable company like Canon shipping a camera with a battery that only lasts 10 minutes. When trying to contact them, I was put on endless hold after being abruptly transferred. I am still trying to cancel my order but have not been able to get them to respond to emails or pick up the phone in less than a 15-20 minute hold time. Lastly, they said the US model came with expedited shipping included, but then tried to charge me some insurance fee which when I threated to cancel my order over they quickly said they would waive it. A $143 camera somehow was going to end up costing me $197 after the phone call. I would stay away from this website."

"Despite reading tons of reviews on how bad this store is, I ventured out anyways. Well, same old song and dance. I ordered, they sent me the e-mail with the phone number, the extention didn't work for me either, but I got through to someone, they said I'd ordered the "American Japanese model" and said I could get the "American English" version for what amounted to the same price as Best Buy, so I canceled my order. What is amusing to me is that I actually called and asked a sales rep about a week earlier which was the American version and this is the one he told me, the other one advertised on the internet being the European version. He eventually hung up on me when he figured out I just wanted to ask questions and not buy just yet. To be honest, I'm not really upset because I knew I was taking a chance and was hoping to beat them at their own game. Well, if anyone else knows how, let me know. Otherwise, I'm just glad they were happy to cancel my order. I wonder where their money comes from with all these canceled orders..."

Same story as eveybody else, placed order on web, was told to call to confirm (the phone # extention in their email didn't work. these guys can't even run a scam right!) Got the old "you ordered the foreign version. Do you want the US version?" (for more $, of course.)
The guy couldn't direct me to any location on their website where they advertise the US version. I got irate and called them on their scam, and the guy had the nerve to call me an "ass"!
I can't imagine how these guys can live such petty little lives scamming fools who buy their pathetic lies, though I suspect their cold souls are incapable of knowing any other way.

"I ordered a 46 inch LCD TV from them online. Afterwards, they sent me an email saying that I needed to call them to confirm the order. When I called, they said that the TV doesn't come with a base and will fall over unless I purchase one. They wanted $169 just for the base alone. I checked with the manufacturer, and was told that the TV comes with a base. Camera Addict said that they sell wholesale, and only retail TVs come with a base. At that point, I told them to cancel the order which they did. At the very minimum they are misrepresenting what they sell. I don't trust them at all."
"They are not honest. We ordered a camcorder, every time I called to get the status, they would tell me it is on backorder and would be a couple weeks. I finally found out that the one we ordered was coming from China and everything would be in Chinese. When you read about the product on their site, it stats nothing about this. Same thing happened with two digital cameras. They are a scam like most of the camera places on the internet."
"Searched online for a camcorder--Panasonic HDC-HS9, I found the order price was $679.00 at Cameraaddict.com for one. So I ordered one. I received an e-mail for verification next day. When I called,the guy told me I had to pay more $170.00 for a US battery, because the battery in the box can just work for 30 minutes. I asked him to cancel my order, but the guy stoutly refused me. He said I had only two choice, either got 25min-30min battery or got a US battery after paid more $170.00. He recommended repeatedly me to choice the second one because it lasts at least 4 hours. When I got the camcorder, the battery was still the primary one from the Panasonic Company. When I charged the battery at the first time, it just lasted 5 minutes, I guessed it had been charged. It's a second-hand battery. So I thought I was misleaded by the guy. It's a fraud!!!"
"Searched the "lowest price" on a Garmin Zumo 550. Every authorized reseller had them for $635 or more. Camera Addict and Brodway Photo had them at $515. I ordered, had to call to confirm, declined all the other parts they offered, and then the scam- Did I want this to work in the US? I had to buy the US maps for $119. I said the price and description (cut and paste from Garmin's page) said the US maps were loaded. Bottom line, Avoid Camera Addict. I cancelled my order and went to NavGuys. You can repeat the above conversation with Brodway photo as I tried them as well. Also- forget the reviews at "Everyprice.com" as they are bogus. I tried to post a bad review and it never showed!"
"ShopCartUsa.com showed these guys as the lowest price for the camera I wanted. I called to and spoke to a salesperson to confirm if the camera was indeed in stock and if so I'd like to place the order over the phone. The guy confirms that the camera is in stock but that I can only place the order over the web. So I did and like many others, I receivd an email to call confirm my order and "expedite processing." I called and it turns out to be the same upselling I got from BroadwayPhoto.com. I went through the whole process of turning everything down and finalized the order. I asked and was told that my order will arrive in 7-10 days. Two days later I get another e-mail saying that the camera is on backorder. This is the same things that happened to me at BroadwayPhoto. These guys are all the same since the e-mails generated to me were exactly the same. What at bunch of losers! Needless to say, I cancelled my orders."
"These guys are intentionally dishonest. Be very careful buying anything from them. They are very misleading. I completed my internet order. They send you an email saying you have to call-in to complete the order. When I called, a slimy sales guy answered and told me, "sir you ordered a Japanese projector; do you want an American Projector?" (of course the "American" projector is $250 more). Check out all of the reviews --- these guys are crooked!"
"The "find-the-best-price" web sites gave this place good reviews. Didn't know about ResellerRatings.com. I, of course, had the same experience as all the other reviewers. However, I actually got my item (Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS) at the listed price ($351), $25-$50 less than other sites. After turning down all their "offers" to upsell me, the salesman said, "of course there is a $39.95 shipping insurance charge". So I told him to cancel the order and if he doesn't want to sell it to me that's okay by me. He then said he would give it to me at the original price. It arrived within a week with everything intact. Don't take their bait-and-switch tactics personally, I was more amused than anything. Pretend it's a game."

all you read is true. they misrepresent prices and then bait and switch. when you call customer service they stone wall you. i ordered a gps unit and they e-mailed me requesting a verification. then they tried to high pressure sell me accessories. i refused and then they told me the unit needed an upgrade for english. the unit came after they charged additional money on my account. the invoice is carefully manufactured to be unclear and the software upgrade that was supposed to be the additional charge was carefully shown as no charge while the product was marked with the difference. the warranty from the product manufacturer clearly stated that upgrades were free. i contacted customer service and waited on hold for 1 hour. finally the customer service representative attempted to pacify me with a 3 year additional insurance policy. this never came. 2 months later i called again. they have caller i.d. the first call, they picked up and hung up. the second call they put me straight to voice mail. the third call they gave me a fake tracking number to chase down. now they wont pick up the phone. when you overhear the other customer service conversations in the background this is what you will hear, "no we did not misrepresent", "we are not being deceptive"...

"i placed an order for a sony bravia xbr kdl-52xbr4 hd 52'' lcd tv on 4-25-08. on 4-28-08 i answered an e-mail to confirm the order. after waiting on the phone for at least 20 min.,i finally had ''jonathan'' try to upsell me a wall mount which he explained i would need to mount the tv. i told him i would just use the one that came with the tv. jonathan said that at the price i paid, the pedestal mount that i thought came with the tv would be only another $149.00. we argued back and forth and i was told by jonathan that i could take it or cancel the order. needless to say,i cancelled the order. jonathan also said the store camera addict was a wholesale outlet and at those prices,all you get is a tv. i asked to talk to someone up the ladder,but jonathan told me he was it. all in all, a very rude and unnerrving experience. incidentally, i bought the same tv on another web site from an authorized sony dealer within 11 dollars of what i had originally agreed to at camera addict. no extra charge for the pedestal base. it comes in the factory sealed box. i would not recommend camera addict to anyone."
