"I wish I found this site before I made my purchase with Canada Computers the other week. Would have saved myself a ton of stress! I have never dealt with such a SLOW company in my life. I ordered & paid for some computer components and received acknowledgement right away, fine. Then, 3 days go by, 4, 5, a week, then a week and half. No word, nothing. I emailed them and 24 hours later I get a reply saying, "Yes, we are processing your order". Excuse me? Processing after almost two weeks??
If I ordered this from Tiger or FutureShop or BestBuy, I would've had my stuff anywhere from 2 days to 4 days of ordering.
I had ordered 2 other components from Tiger Direct the same day I placed with CC and it was delivered within a day and half!!
Canada Computers may have great prices but at the cost of extremely poor customer service.
I will never deal with them again!"
"This is amazing that I can express my opinion here .
In the past I bought several hardware components from this store such as 2 video cards , one stx sound card, keyboard, and some more stuff but I have a big disappointment each time I go to that store in LAVAL/QUEBEC.
Ok so I will cut the story short. They advertise lowest price. Well I have found better prices and I wanted a price match, since they had it in stock. They agreed on the phone to give me 340$ for an i7 3770k from 370. When I went there, spent 1 hour travelling, they told me that the lowest price that they can go is for 360, BECAUSE the other store did not have it in stock ! I said NO. Then next day, I found it in another little store for 342$ plus TAX TAX TAX (50$) .
That was my last experience with them ! I cant believe that they sold them for 370$ , I JUST cant , this CPU is 330$ tax included in the STATES , period
Another time they sold me 1 Asus Xonar STX sound card with no package accessories ! When I went back to the store, I lost about 2 hours trying to justify myself as a normal person and not a thief. Eventually they exchanged it, but not after getting really upset.
So if you are looking for the best price, look elsewhere, make yourself a favour and stay away from COMPUTERS CANADA LAVAL, I assume service is the same nation wide, but I might be wrong. Anyways the prices stay the same. Probably it's a store for rich people, I conclude
[edit] After reading a few reviews around here, I see that those who give positive review, assume that negative feedback come from idiots or people who are not on par with technology. Guys, just cause you had your 1k computer/parts shipped does not say A THING. We are talking about customer service which kicks in to be very helpful, when an order gets messed up. Anyways, I do not agree with you!
I am very good at computers, and I can tell you that THEY are just a retail store ! They try to sell ! Many times I hear "I don't know / I don't have / I can't". Now if you are still concerned about this negative reviewer, I started playing with computers in 1999, and with time I started working on them, of course I got my math and binary done in order to fully understand hardware and now I am a Software Developer.
So don't just assume that people don't know a damn, in fact, all people here are 100% right about giving the well merited negative feedback.
Thank you for reading. Btw , i3770k is an amazing processor. not much better than 2600k though :)"
"Purchased a USB to Serial adapter for a job I was doing with my business. Spent two hours at a retail location trying to get it to work and eventually realized that it was a counterfeit product thanks to the real chip manufacturer's website (See note at end from their website www.prolific.com.tw/eng/FAQs.asp?ID=50)
I live over an hour away from the nearest store and was not able to make it back for their 7 day return period. I eventually got them to agree to take back the product by showing them the website message below, but they would only do store credit right then and there. Had nothing else I needed from them so bought an RC helicopter of all things. First time I turned it on it went straight for the sky and was only saved from oblivion by a nearby tree, 60ft up. After a fun time getting it down, called to arrange for a return on the 8th day when I would be travelling by for Easter and was told they would not accept it after the 7th day. I used to cover RMA for a two store retail computer shop in London, ON and I can't believe how little customer service these guys offer. They want to sell you something and call it quits after that, no support for defective or counterfeit products they shouldn't even be selling. The rep on the phone even told me they were getting too many of the helicopters back, no wonder the sales guy pushed it so hard.
Highly suggest you do not purchase from them and instead use NCIX (10 years of purchasing, not one bad experience), TigerDirect or NewEgg, anyone but these jokers.
I called Visa and they refunded my money out of their pocket without any fuss, so I believe they are well acquainted with their business practices and unhappy customers.
Still going to stop by their store on the 8th day with the product to try and get Visa's money back, otherwise these guys still win with their underhanded practices.
"Q Why do I get an Error Code 10 (Yellow Exclamation Mark) after I installed the latest driver?
A If you are getting an Error Code 10 with a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager after installing the latest Prolific PL-2303 driver, please contact the cable maker of your product for Prolific chip validity and support.
Prolific strongly recommend to only purchase USB-to-Serial cables from company-branded products providing technical support. It is not advisable to buy from unknown cable makers (no-brand cables) made in China.
Prolific does not manufacturer any end-product cables and will not provide direct support to end-users.
WARNING: Please be warned that counterfeit (fake) PL-2303HX (Chip Rev A) USB to Serial Controller ICs using Prolific's trademark logo, brandname, and device drivers, were being sold in the China market. Counterfeit IC products show exactly the same outside chip markings but generally are of poor quality and causes Windows driver compatibility issues (Yellow Mark Error Code 10). We issue this warning to all our customers and consumers to avoid confusion and false purchase.""
"Over the past 2 years I've built more than a few computers and servers. Most of the parts have come from Canada Computers (95%).
Yes, they have the best prices and selection at most times, I research all parts for every build. Problem, I've gone in the store after checking the website, write down the part # & price and get handed something more expensive, if you don't know your stuff you may be hosed, that's mainly at the Barrie branch. Buyer Beware."
"One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I bought a laptop from them just over a year ago. We got an extended warranty through them. Well, my touchpad stopped working a few weeks after the manufacturer warranty expired so I pulled out my Canada Computers warranty only to find that I needed to get an RMA from Toshiba myself and that they will not honour their warranty without that. Ok. So I contact Toshiba to request this and Toshiba says that they can't provide that. That Canada Computers should be requesting it. Great. So they sell warranties to people that are absolutely useless.
Unfortunately, a couple months ago, I purchased some batteries and a charger. The charger stopped working after 1 month. They would not allow an exchange and said "it's not under warranty." So I ended up ordering a new one, along with some more batteries by the same company. They took my money, and *one month later* after inquiring as to why it hadn't shipped yet, they finally tell me it's out of stock and want to ship me the batteries without the charger (which would be useless to me). I asked if they could not replace the charger with a similar model. They said suggested I buy a $20 more expensive charger by a different company and assured me it would be compatible with the batteries I had purchased. Sure enough, the batteries were not compatible, and one ended up overheating to the point that it actually burst and had battery acid leaking. I immediately contacted them, asking either for a refund or exchange on the batteries or charger. Despite them specifically advising me to purchase incompatible products, they will not even exchange the batteries for ones that will work, and simply regurgitate the same line "these items are not under warranty." They otherwise do not respond to e-mails. I've finally filed a BBB complaint and have yet to hear a response.
Find a company who cares about their customers and doesn't deliberately screw them over."
"Worst online shopping experience ever. Worst even than my experience with Chinese websites
Took a week to inform me that the product which was available when I placed the order is not actually available (but they have charged me anyway).
Nobody answering to calls or emails for an entire week.
avoid them at any cost!!!!"
"I write this review because after reviewing the other comments here, I shuld say I was concerned about their service... I ordered a computer from them by their web site, it was delivered fedex (free of charge) 3 days after odering. I can not eally ask for more. I did received the tracking number by email as mentionned."
"Took 10 days to advise me they could not get the product I ordered despite listing 2 in stock when it was ordered. This was only after I contacted them and it took 48hrs to even respond. Don't waste your time here price may seem good but service is terrible.
Upon attempting to contact Canada Computers in regards to a refund it took 2 days to be advised id have to wait another 14 days for a refund due to their policies. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told this was not possible and I would just have to accept it. The refund delay combined with the delay in being notified an item wasn't available brings it to a total of 26 days from placing an order to be told a product is not available and get my money back."
"We started our holiday shopping today and stopped by the Mississauga location to pick up a gift. The Manager refused to give their extended 15 day return policy even though we explained it was a gift.
I would not recommend any retailer that runs with such a rigid return policy.
D&J"
"okay reading through these reviews i can see that alot of the people reviewing dont know anything about retail
for example sure backing up and reinstalling an os should take like 2 hours tops but people seem to think they are the only item there for repair
ive noticed alot of complaints about defective items being returned and still being charged for the restocking fee, there return policy is spot on if the item is defective they will take it for no restocking fee BUT if it isn't and you are lets say pretending its broken then you will pay the fee, i'm guessing a lot of people on here are the few that like to slander a company when they don't get their way
though i fully agree their email customer service is lack luster and their phone reps are lazy and quite rude
the people in store are quite rude but the new montreal laval site has fantastic service though i think that its because they actually can speak english unlike there toronto locations, yeah in montreal they speak better english than in toronto... its because of all the as...
the reason you need to watch the prices ISNT the "defects" as some idiot seems to think its because they have mail in rebate prices as well"
"Lazy service reps.. All they want is money and more money and they do not care any damn to solve the problem. Instead of servicing with them, buy some cheap laptops from them, both are pretty much the same cost..
I would never ever go back to them for service. I had a problem with my laptop and how long would it take to take a backup and re-install OS? 5 days? You kidding me? Lazy is the only word I could think for.."
"Review written in English and French
Canadacomputers is a company that has a very bad reputation. They have some store in Ontario and the service is horrible. He's sell a defective product willingly. You'll find great deal on their website. You know the price that nobody else can do it! But be careful because it is only of the defective marchandise. Canadacomputers have no merchant account with paypal. You need to make money transfers and empty their account on the fields. So no recourse. Their RMA system is inexitance, it's JOKE. This is a company to limit frau..... Made a web search and you will see dozens of comments about them.
Finally, never buy from this seller under any circumstances! Even if the price is incredible. It is a pogne because the merchandise is defective.
"The woman at the checkout at the Scarborough Kennedy location is rude. I said "Hello," and there was no answer. Some of the employees are rude and others are courteous. Customer satisfaction has been spotty for me."
"Virtually no customer service here. It took me days to finally get through and speak to someone on their main line only to find out one of my orders had yet to be processed.
Also beware of their inventory count on their website, it is almost always off by a few weeks. Even though 90 units were listed for the product I purchased, it was actually on back order.
Proceed with caution when to comes to Canada Computers, I've tried them three times and have had a bad experience each time. Never again."
"If you are thinking of visiting this place. Think twoce. This is the worse place to buy electronics. I bought a laptop and it didn't work properly so I tried to return it. The item was on sale the next day and the manager forced me to take the refund on the lower price with a 5% restocking fee. I think this is the way they make money. That was an expensive lesson. You would never ever find a place with such a bad return policy! "
