"I purchased the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel from Canada Computers on November 13, 2010. The product was advertised as refurbished by Logitech. The product I received was literally a piece of garbage. It was filthy, disgusting and broken. They didn't even look at the product before they shipped it. It had clearly not been refurbished from Logitech, as they claimed, because Logitech would never authorize the shipment of a broken piece of junk. When I opened the box (incidentally, the box wasn't even sealed and it had been shipped from Toronto to Winnipeg with the beat up box opened) I saw a very used wheel that had no mounting brackets (mounting brackets are what you use to attach the wheel to a desk or surface). When I inspected further I noticed that they shipped me a wheel that had the mounting brackets snapped off. Had they inspected the wheel they would have noticed that they sent me a broken wheel. The wheel is useless without the ability to lock it into place. The wheel and pedals were also filthy and disgusting. It was covered with grime as well as other disgusting things you usually find in a heavily used and abused product. "

"I've only had good experiences ordering from their online store. I can't say anything about their retail stores since I've never been to one. Prices are competitive - I checked shopbot.ca and other online stores first to do a price comparison.

My most recent order for a video card was quickly shipped out - I was pleasantly surprised to find out that shipping is currently free for Ontario and Quebec for orders over $100. It was shipped overnight via FedEx to Quebec, so no complaints there.

The only minor gripe I have is that their PayPal system is not automated yet. So after making your order, you need to log into your PayPal account and send your funds to their member account. It's not a big deal, as my order was processed and shipped out within 1 business day.

"I have only dealt with this place in store. I tried placing an order online about a year ago, but after 3-4 days of it not being shipped I canceled it.

However I purchased a few HDD's (computer hard drives) from there and all have failed. All make noise and if you want to return them? Good luck they will charge you 15% as a restocking fee even if the product is broken/defective.

I brought an extremely loud (2 day old) drive into their store. I brought it to the tech desk and explained my problem after about 10 minutes of waiting for them to plug in a HDD (which takes seconds) she tells me there is nothing wrong with it, and she can't hear any noises. I was standing about 5-7 feet away on the other side of a wall with a window cut in it. I could hear the darn drive from there and they told me "Oh no problem" Well the drive has failed now just like every other drive I have ever bought there.

So I paid the 15% for a new drive, and it fails in less then a year. This is a final sale retailer their return service is terrible.

Most of the employees I have dealt with have been very courteous though.

"Great prices and perhaps the worst service I've even experienced. If your product is new and not a mislabeled refurb (ordered a new wireless keyboard once and the sent me something that had obviously been used--that should have been my first hint) you'll probably make out OK.

If your product is defective, you're totally on your own. Good luck returning it to them. You'll need it.

"This company has been an overall horrendous experience for me to deal with. The item shipped days after I ordered it, despite being in stock, the RMA process I had to use for them (it was defective) has been a nightmare with me still not having received my replacement part over 2 months later, their communication is terrible (often it takes several repeated e-mails to get a response from them) and their attitude is snotty and unapologetic. Even if it costs you a bit more, buy your products elsewhere."

"Great prices! aaaaand, that's it!

If you expect post-sales support for an unsatisfactory sales, then this store has one of the worst customer regard, and they could very quickly become rude instead of being helpful.

I made a purchase of an item which was supposed to be a new in-a-box printer. Just before making the payment, it turned out to be a display item. Brought it home and had a look to find fine scratches all over the top, and missing CD + manual. Not happy. Took it to the store the next day and had to deal with rude, totally not understanding staff. All of a sudden, the details of open box item sales cropped up.

No on-duty manager except on Tuesdays??!!

Recommend not to make expensive purchases from this store.

UPDATE: Went on Tuesday to speak with the store manager, who turned out to be a very understanding person and dealt with the issue in a very appropriate way. This store should still work on improving customer rapport.

"Best on line retailer I have ordered from. Great prices, usually ship the next day, and there are helpfull people who answer the phone! Yes real people. Fantastic. My last order, a large computer case, got lost in the system. I called. It was in my office the next day.

"Well I'm not sure how their online service was before but let me tell you after I read the reviews I was a bit worried. Now after having ordered I can tell you they must of changed cause their service was great. My first order from them was on Monday paid using online banking. With that said and I know online banking cause I use it often to pay for other stuff it does take a day for the full transactions/verifying the transaction. Anyhow I ordered Monday received tracking email Friday at 11am, and received my package at 4:30pm same day.

This is great service based on other online purchases from other stores like futureshop. I ordered from futureshop took same amount of time 5 days.

Heck I was worried due to all the reviews I called them up on Friday morning 10am didn't have my invoice number handy (but had account number). Even with that they took their time searched the database using account number and found all my orders all within 2-3min.

As for store service I went to their store before in my area. Service was normal they didn't pester me but helped me when I needed help looking for product. Not only that they were pretty knowledgeable on their products.

All in all I enjoyed their service. My first order was 16 things in total. All came in a big box wrapped nicely with no damage. Will give review on my other two orders when they arrive.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention the 6.99 flat rate for shipping doesn't matter how much you order was a bonus. 6.99 for most except items which they tell you the shipping cost. Normally if I were to go to ups and ship the same amount I know for fact that I would pay more then 6.99

EDIT2: Well made 3 new different orders (one day found I wanted this, next forgot needed that, then realized need that). Anyhow orders came even faster orders were made Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday. Orders all arrived next week exactly on Tuesday. So 5 business days for my Tuesday order, 4 for my wed, 3 for my Thursday. Best part is I messed up my new order ordered 1200rpm fans when i wanted the 800rpms. Well took one email with my order number and they fixed my order and refunded the difference in price without any hassle.

"My encounter with Canada Computers was the most awful, frustrating experience in customer service. Their prices are good and that cannot be denied-but the lack of service is NOT WORTH IT. They ruined my gift to my husband this Christmas. I could bore you with details if necessary, but I genuinely warn you NOT to buy anything from them.It's disgusting that a company this poorly managed actually exists. I hope that no one has the poor experience that I did. Congratulations to those who have purchased without difficulty- but it really is a roll of the dice."

"My experiences with this retailer have been excellent, bought many products and returned anything thing defective or not used with no problem at all.

Many of the complaints on this site are just negative and don't point out anything positive about the retailer.

Most of the problems seem to come from someone that is not knowledgeable at all in retailers and don't seem very knowledgeable in computers to begin with. Think before you write a review, the company has a total of what 10 stores to date. They focus on retail and having the best price which they are great at doing. Having a type of online service is good for them, but is definitely not their strongpoint as a warehouse like NCIX focuses on mainly their online store because they don't have any other way of selling.

People seem to complain about their return policy and how frustrated they are with it. Again how big is the company compared to Best Buy, NCIX, tigerdirect.etc? Can you really expect them to replace things on the fly like money means nothing to them either? They have the cheapest price, which makes it so they have less margins. Therefore they can't have customers returning products for stupid reasons, that and without packaging or because they are just not knowledgeable about the products they purchase or how to install them. If you want the GREAT return policies and no hassle at all go pay the $20-$100 more at other retailers, becuase they are making enough money off you, they can just buy another one anyways. You pay for the return policy is how I see it. That and having been a manager of a similar store, I know the problems they have to deal with.

They are busy, so deal with it and wait. They don't have time to sit around and listen to you talk about what you might want, know your products, do the research and go buy what you want. Actually the funniest part of that is I see customers asking to test/see the product, think about it, if they open a product and then you don't want it, you just wasted their time as they don't have a lot of staff(to keep overhead down) PLUS they now have a open box item, which I see many complaints about this as well. It's simple, buy it, test it when you get home, if it doesn't work, bring it back and get another one, your cash back or something else. I have never had any problems doing this since they opened over 4 years ago. If the product dies after the 30 day exchange then contact the manufacturer. If you don't want to do this then go somewhere else. If you want a quick RMA..which is nearly impossible through the manufacturer except for HD's, then by all means go somewhere else where they have the money to just give you another one while they sit and wait for a replacement for the next 4 weeks. RMA's through the manufacturer and shipping it(as in not going into the manufacturer's place of business)takes 2-6 weeks. I wish some people were more knowledgeable in computers or have to deal with computer retailers problems which customers usually create.

I am sorry for the long comment, but some of the complaints on here are just absurd, and the company deserves a lot better recognition than what the people on here give it. I am sure if more people knew about this site, other than complainers, than the reviews about the store would be much better. Although most people focus on the negative aspects anyways.
