"I sent in my gift card in return for a $16 amazon gift card.. They sent me a non-working link, and now I suddenly can't log into my account and Support hasn't replied to me! (it's been 2 days)"
"I received an inactive gift card and they will not refund me. "
"I referred a friend to Cardpool last week; she purchased a Target gift card.
I get a $5 referral code to use.
I enter the number given to me in the email from 11:37 pm May 16, 2018
It is now 9:25 am May 17, 2018 --- less than 12 hours later ---
and the error message is ---->>> Cardpool gift card number unrecognized. Please try again "
"I tried to get an Amazon card in exchange for a $25.00 Kohl's card, the transaction hung there pending for two weeks. In the meantime, they charged the gift card for its full value, issued me nothing in return, and told me to try to contact Kohl's for a replacement :)
So yeah, give them a gift card number and pin online, and they'll spend it, like proper card thieves. The fact that the site barely works should have been a tip off to me that it's just a front for this kind of activity. Shame on me."
"didn't receive giftcards, no customer service response -- terrible!"
"The third week of March 2018, I purchased a Dunkin' Donuts gift card from them that was supposed to have a $103 balance on it. My husband and I went to use it at Dunkin' on Monday and the counter girl tells us there is no money on the card. I immediately tried to contact Cardpool and there is no way to reach them except through email. I got a computer generated response telling me to be patient - it might take up to 3 or more days to respond. Today, I sent another email and told them this is unacceptable and that I want my money refunded. Still no response. I called Dunkin' Donuts corporate office to try to get help from them and they tell me they do not authorized 3rd party resellers - especially Cardpool!!! and there is nothing they can do for me. From Dunkins' perspective, I look like I've stolen someone's card as the card is registered in someone's else's name. Lesson learned for me but it **** to be out the $77 I paid for the card. I am going to dispute the charge through my credit card company but that could be a slow process. Very, very unhappy and dissatisfied. Trust me - do not use Cardpool no matter how good the transaction looks."
"I can't believe they don't have a class action lawsuit already pending for this horrible scam circus **** show of a "company." Although I'm leaning more toward calling them an organized crime gang or just straight up thieves.
Come on guys, we all know why they don't have a contact number, with a real human that answers the phone. If they had customer service lines, all it would be is a non stop onslaught of **** off hardworking citizens that got frigging ripped off by these thieves that are undoubtedly using all the money they rip off from all these innocent people to fund a terrorist sleeper-cell or even worse yet, for building Trump's Great Wall... Carpool ****! Use at your own risk. And trust us, there's a ton of risk involved. More than high risk investing"
"I purchased what should have been a $50 ebay card, which turned out to have a $0 balance. I emailed cardpool, but they never responded. They will rip you off- plain and simple!"
"I purchased a gift card from cardpool and it had no balance on it! There is no phone number that works for Cardpool. I have emailed customer service at least 20 times and have not received a response. I was scammed out of of my $82.70. This is not a company that can be trusted!!! PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
"When receiving a merchant gift card from Cardpool, always check the gift card balance online with the merchant's website. More than once I have received gift cards from Cardpool that were closed accounts with a zero balance. Cardpool is all but impossible to contact, making a quick resolution very difficult, to say nothing of the embarrassment if the card was given as a gift. "
"My bad Cardpool experience on 2/26/18:
1) Ordered 2 identical e-gift cards - value of $25 each. After ordering, I receive this auto email from Cardpool:
“Thanks for your order!…We'll typically email you with your electronic or mobile gift cards within 3 business days. In some cases we may ask for additional verification and your order will remain pending until we receive all the necessary documentation requested….”
Then I found this in their Support section - https://www.cardpool.com/support/buying :
“…While it will typically only take ten minutes for you to receive your eGift card, it can take up to 1 business day if further verification is needed.”
NOWHERE in the ordering process, all the way to checkout, does it say that ELECTRONIC gift cards could take up to 3 business days to arrive by email. I WOULD NOT have bought them had I known this. Cardpool doesn’t even tell you in any fine print in the ordering process that it could take up to 1 business day, as they say in their Support section.
My experience with buying e-gift cards is that they are available to me, if not immediately, then very soon after purchase. The 10 minutes they say is typical is fine, but a day or more?? C’mon, REALLY??!!!!! Something wrong is going on with their operation for this to be the case. At least the customer should be forewarned.
2) ALMOST 27 HOURS AFTER ORDERING, I received this email:
“Thank you for your recent order with Cardpool.com! We recently received your order, but we were unable to fulfill the entire order due to an inventory error. You will not be charged for following items listed below. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Your order will be shipped to you shortly….”
And then immediately afterward I received only 1 e-gift card link in a separate email. There was no chance, through proper customer service, to ask if I wanted to cancel the order, since they were not able to fulfill it properly. Obviously I wanted both of the cards, and I wanted both of them at the same time. I would have cancelled my order if I thought I was not going to receive them both.
Before even clicking on anything in the email, I contacted them to ask if I could cancel the order, not redeeming the card. Their response is understandable, but not very acceptable to a customer:
“Thank you for your inquiry. According to the terms of our Purchase Guarantee Program, which are available at http://www.cardpool.com/guarantee, we are unfortunately unable to accept returns or exchanges on our electronic gift cards. Since you are already in possession of the card numbers and they still have value, we hope you can understand why we have to adhere to this policy….”
With some of the email responses (or lack of them) from Cardpool to my inquiries (they have no phone number or live chat), it seems obvious to me what at least one major problem is, a problem that seems to be getting more and more common out there:
BARE BONES CUSTOMER SERVICE STAFF"
"I presented to Cardpool with $1500 in gift cards for an online store: five $200 and one $500. I decided to trade one $200 card for an Amazon gift card that offers a higher payout When you list your card, Cardpool offers you a suggested pay-out based on "similar gift cards " in the Marketplace but lets you set the price up to a certain value. Once the card sells, they send you a check for your chosen amount.
I set my price for the $200 cards at $181, just a couple of dollars over their "recommended price". I entered the PIN for the $500 gift card and set the price at about $5 more than they suggested,. I later received an email stating that only $340 was loaded onto the $500 card. Cardpool gave me the option to list based on that amount, to "return" the card, or receive an Amazon gift card at their designated value.
I was furious, obviously, and texted customer service who still insisted they were correct. They suggested that I should check the online store for the card's value. When I did so, the store verified that the amount loaded onto the card was $500.
I texted Cardpool again and stated that a mistake had been made on their end, possibly with data entry, and that they should recheck the value of the card. Customer Support was quick to apologize but said the matter had to be "reviewed" before the card could be listed.
Several days later I checked the "buy" listings on Cardpool for the store, and received the message that there were "none available". In my account the price of payout had defaulted back to their recommended set point, and none of the cards had been listed. For example, I was to get $430 on the $500 gift card if it sold after posting.
I gave up because Customer Service was absolutely awful. It has been almost a week and my cards still haven't been listed. Maybe they decided that if I was challenging the value on the most expensive card, then all of my cards must have been processed incorrectly as well? I haven't even received a code to redeem the Amazon gift card.
Bottom line is that Cardpool offers you about 25% less than the value of your gift card, then increases the price to nearly 100% when it is listed (for their profit). The gamble is that the company does issue some purchased cards online, so once you turn over the card's PIN to them, they technically 'own' it and you may never see payment at all.
I'm still waiting to hear about my $1500."
"Do not do business with this company! They claimed they sent me a $25 gift card and I only received a $10. When i showed them what I received, they basically called me a liar! I have used raise.com and giftcardzen.com for years with no problem."
"I sold a Macy's card which did not require shipping the card and got paid fine.
Several years later I listed two identical cards for a spa place. These require the card to be shipped, one of them sold, and there was no way to identify which is which. I've reached out to cardpool numerous times and have had no response at all after a week. I am giving up on them, so whomever ordered the card is getting nothing shipped, and I suppose their order will be cancelled"
"I needed a PF Chang's discount for an immediate use and noticed that Cardpool had many Egift's showing. I was very careful when i ordered it by choosing only eGift as the "Type" and then paying attention that i selected the discount showing the phone and not the card. When my order completed i got an email that said it would be mailed to be within 3-7 days. I immediately tried to call them since i needed the discount within the next 24 hours and after searching for their phone # for at least half an hour I had to leave them a message. No one ever called me back. Will never do business with them again!"
