"Absolutely terrible experience. In the terms and conditions, they waive any responsibility to run on your scheduled itinerary. This resulted in my group being over 20 minutes late to meetings with US Congress. I thought they meant a few minutes here or there would be excused, but I received notice that my claims do not warrant a refund. This is also on top of other claims: a rude driver, who completely ignored one stop of our itinerary resulting in him being left alone with our group's luggage for 2 hours. This is absolutely not what we paid for and yet not even a partial refund was given. "
"Everything seemed fine at first; the booking process was smooth and their customer service was helpful. The day of our rental, the driver showed up on time and was friendly. The first part of our trip was great. But on the return leg of the trip, our driver was absolutely insane: cutting off other cars, honking at other drivers and flipping them off, changing lanes with millimeters between our giant bus and other vehicles, tailgating, flashing the high-beams at other drivers and leaving them on, etc. We were very lucky not to have been in a serious accident. I reported our complaints to CharterUP and they declined to take any action at all.
It turns out that the bus operator that they contracted for us is not licensed to operate in the state where our trip took place!
I have reported CharterUP and the bus operator to both the state DOT and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
The state DOT told me to always contract directly with the bus company, not a middleman like CharterUP, and to always check first to make sure they're licensed to operate. It didn't occur to me that CharterUP wasn't legit, but you live and learn."
