"Worst customer service ever. Chegg gives you the option to read the book online while they ship the actual book. NOT TRUE!!! If you cannot wait for the book, do not believe that they have the feature. They launched the feauture but they were not ready and it doesn't work. You cannot see the book. If you ask for a call they will email you the same instructions over and over."
"I have not had one bad experience using chegg! My books are shipped with plenty of time. There is not one I can say bad about this company. I think they Are fair and have amazing customer service. They are very prompt when it comes to refunding money for returned books. They are good at reminding you when your books are due. I would recommend renting text books from this company before any other!"
"I was pretty disappointed with Chegg. I ordered my books on Jan. 5, with an estimated arrival date on Jan. 20th (which I thought was a pretty long time). Two of my six books arrived by then, and the rest just disappeared. I talked with their customer service that said they could either give me a refund (that would take my bank about 4 business days to process) or reship the books. I have two upcoming tests this week and no books to study for them. Fortunately the customer service guy was extremely helpful and reshipped the books on expedite to my home address (they couldn't expedite to my P.O. box?). I have to drive a hour home this week to get them, but at least I don't have to wait another 15 days to fail more tests. I was happy with the customer service, but really unhappy with the fact that I will most likely fail my two tests because Chegg misplaced my books."
"Awesome! I shipped them 5 books of mine on Jan. 10, 2012 and already got money in my pay pal account today, Jan. 12, 2012! At my school bookstore they wouldn't even take my books back, and Chegg took them, and I got the same price I was quoted for!

"I rented, bought and sold back text books to Chegg, and there was always an "issue" that cost me money. I'm most angry about the sell-back process. I submitted the books I had, shipped them to Chegg for free -- all good -- but then, when they got the books, they said they couldn't accept the most valuable ones because of undisclosed "problems." My options were to donate the books, or pay to have them shipped back to me. I have a feeling if I donated the books, they'd be for sale as a used text at no cost to Chegg.
Other companies like Amazon offered less to buy the books back, but at least I could expect fair and honest treatment"
"Their website was easy to navigate and I received my two textbooks within 6 days of ordering them (including the New Years holiday). The books came nicely packed in sturdy boxes and were in very good condition. I saved $231 off of what I would have spent had I bought the books brand new."

They cancelled my order without even telling me, and didn't tell me why it was cancelled, although I assume the book was out of stock because they refunded my money. "If I could givee 0 stars, I would. Chegg is the most horribly run company in the world, who will rip you off whenever they get a chance. I ordered 3 pretty inexpensive books. I was 1, count it, ONE, day late returning the books, and they charged me FULL RETAIL price for them. I was charged, not even given a chance to fight, on my credit card that day 400$. I called them for months. Every time you call them, you are just given a customer service person who can't help you with manager issues. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU speak with a manager. they will force you to get a call back that is at an unspecified time. so if you miss the call, you have to call and re-schedule. I WILL NEVER order books from Chegg. THE BOOKS AT AMAZON.COM ARE MUCH CHEAPER TO BUY ANYWAYS!!!!"
"I ordered a book from chegg and 2 days later they canceled it saying that the book was out of stock. so i looked on their site and the book was there, for $3 more. don't ask me why, but i reordered it. guess what, 2 days later the canceled my order a SECOND time for the same reason. and guess what, the book is still listed but for another $3 more. "I ordered a bunch of books from chegg for the summer semester. When the summer semester was extended for one class I purchased the book extension, no problem. I sent the book back within the appropriate time that was given to me, and what do I discover a couple of days later? A charge for over $100 dollars was taken out of my account. Because this was taken out of my account at the same time that my bills were to be taken out, and therefore I have insufficient funds and I was charged a $30 returned check fee 3 separate times for 3 different bills!! When I called about the money that was taken out they said I would receive a refund no problem. A few days later I see a refund for ONLY $73. When I called to ask they said I would receive the full $103 buy Tuesday. Wednesday comes along and who doesn't have the full refund? Me! SO once again I called and I was told that $30 was issued as a chegg credit because I used this credit I received to rent the books. When I asked to receive the credit back to my account I was told that I would only receive 85% of that back. I took me complaining to three different supervisors to get my full refund. I have already lost $90 because they took money from me from removing money that should not have been removed. I am a newly graduated student, a mother of a 3 month old infant, with no steady job. That is now $90 I do not have to feed myself or my infant. They seems like they did not want to help me at all and did not care about the stress they have caused me. They were more irritated that was not happy with getting less than they took. NEVER USE CHEGG!"

"I have ordered four textbooks, but couple days later I received an email notification that two of them had to be cancelled, because they are out of stock. That would have not been an issue if the books were really out of stock. They have raised the prices on those two books, and decided to cancel my order, to make more money on them. Very dishonest way of doing business. One of the other two books I received is in really bad shape. It has at least 5 stickers on, and it is heavily used (lots of notes, highlights, dirty edges, the cover is attached with scotch tape).
It is the first (and last) time I ordered from them. I have ordered from Amazon.com and Half.com, never had any issues, but I wanted to save a few more bucks, and this is what I got instead. Will never order from them again, I rather give my business to others, even if I have to pay more.

"This is the 3rd time I've used Chegg, and I would say my previous experiences were great. So why not 5 stars? They were dishonest in their communication. A couple of days ago, I placed an order for a new book they were selling on their site. I needed the book within a week, so I paid for 3 day shipping and felt confident I would have my book before the next lecture. This morning I received an email from Chegg, stating that the book was out of stock, and my order was cancelled. I was disappointed, but understood that these things happen, so I decided to rent the book instead. I went on their website and saw that the rental price had gone up since the night of my order..AND they were still selling the new book! The SAME ONE they claim to be out of! They had bumped up the price by 10%, and instead of honoring their sale, they decided to cancel my order in hopes of selling the book for 10% more!! I mean, mistakes happen, and I would understand this situation if they had accidentally posted the book for half price, but this was just 10 bucks, and they've lost a customer over it."
