"Chegg.com was an excellent place to rent a textbook. My statistics book was inexpensive to rent and arrived soon after I ordered. In fact I wasn't home to receive the package so UPS left a note on my door asking me to pick it up. Immediately I received an e-mail from Chegg letting me know something had gone wrong in the delivery process. The fact that Chegg was aware and was notifying me meant a lot. They obviously have very good customer service. Returning my book at the end of the rental period was a breeze. The rental period was very long; it lasted into the summer, so I was never rushed. They included a prepaid return label, and sent e-mail reminders of when the book would be due. I highly recomment Chegg for renting textbooks, and will always order from them for my rentals!"

"I was with chegg for a long time, until they charged an extended fee automatically to my card. Without letting me pay the extended fee on my own with another card. They reverse charges all the time, I feel that they discriminated against my situation (the book was late) and refused to reverse the extended fee so I could pay with another card. Now I am stuck with overdraft fees from my bank, their customer service is worthless."
"this is a HORRIBLE site and might as well be run by monkeys. I rented 3 books for the spring semester. I rented a lab book for microbiology, a microbiology text book, and a sociology text book. I received a confirmation that these were paid for and a box came in the mail 2 weeks later. the box was fairly small and when i opened it only my lab book was in there. I looked at the site and they confirmed that all three books were in the same box (having the same shipping number) and arrived at my house that day. I looked at the package carefully and saw that the sticker said it weighed 10lbs. this book was far from 3lbs, let alone 10. i called and called and spoke to many reps and they kept telling me I had my books, they were sent to me. I finally convinced some one in desperation I had indeed not received the two other books I had paid for! they sent me them within 3 days free of charge. also, the lab book was severely water damaged and written all over.
recently, I've changed emails and changed my email in their server. I tried to log in today to return my rented books and was unable to. I figured that maybe my password was reset and tried to send a link to my email to change my password. I never received an email. I also tried sending it to my previous email and that didnt work. I do not exist in their data base anymore. Im thinking about selling their books on ebay."
"this is the first time I rent from chegg and so far so good. I didnt need one of the books and my 21 days was up but the customer service lady was really nice and refunded my $ minus the processing fee which is fine. the only thing is that one of the books i rented has water damage but it still works for me its not a big deal. I love chegg so far but we will see in the next few terms if i still feel the same way. but I doubt anything will change. I think it is deff worth trying out. "
"When I was shopping for books for my classes I wanted the best price. Renting books was a new idea and I wanted to see how much I could save. One text book was $118 for the semester. That's 4 months. Amazon had the same book brand new and shipped to my door for $130. That's only $12 more and I get to keep the book for as long as I want or resell it when im done for $80 and that's on the low side. So if I rented it from chug.com it would pay $118 to rent for four months or if I go it from amazon it would be like renting it for as long as I wanted and then selling it when I'm done and it only costing me $50. Seems like cheeg.com is a ripoff. Better of buying used since the used price I cheaper than a rental."
"Good service. I like usig chegg I had no problems live chat with c.s was very helpful. One quick question. I sent my books on the 11th of Jan 2011 and they received it on the 17th. My first book was in inspection and my first check was sent out on that same day and on the 21st or the 20th of Jan my check came in. Great! But now I'm waiting for my secOnd book to be done with it review. How long does that take? I know up to 5 business days but I'm just asking. I need that second check in already. But over all with my experience with chegg was great."
"This site is a complete waste of time. the agents and managers are rude and unmanageable. I work in customer service and it is NOT how you treat your customers. I called in to make a complaint, I copied and pasted an ISB number for a text book, and received a study guide. I paid extra for 2 day shipping and was shipped the wrong book. They told me they would take of $3 dollars for next day shipping and I would have to pay extra for the correct book, plus more for the next day shipping. And keep in mind I would have had to make these new orders on a flawed system, before receiving a refund. I have worked with amazon and they would NEVER DO THAT. The customer is always right. A student in need of a text book should not be treated that way. I cannot see how a mistake can be made when you COPY AND PASTE an ISB number. They were extremely rude and not helpful. They continually told me I was wrong and I made a mistake. And while the joke of a manager was speaking to me, I could hear other agents making comments in the background. Completely unprofessional. I am disgusted with this company and will stick with amazon from now on. Don't get your books from here unless you want crappy service and not to mention pay for something you don't receive.
I hope this company things long and hard about their agents and management. The agent taylor was rude and gave the most ridiculous unintelligent remarks I have ever encountered. And the manager Jessica has no right to be in management with that kind of customer service. And I will be reporting them to a different manager in the morning, as well as with the business bureau. "

After Chegg read my review of 1/14/2011, I was contacted directly by their customer service team. They sent me a new book, in excellent shape, and provided shipping for me to return the first one.
I found their focus on customer satisfaction to be superior and I have revised my initial review to reflect my positive experience. I will continue to use Chegg in the future based on my experience. Good job Chegg team!

Have rented from Chegg before, but this time purchased a "used" book from Chegg.
"Used" was a generous term; "beat to heck" is more applicable. Highlighting and writing throughout, water stains, ripped pages, cover torn and packing tape used to hold what was left of the cover to the book. All the things Chegg won't accept when they buy books in "acceptable condition".
Should have used a different online seller for this one. Need the book now, so too late to return it. "
"DO NOT RENT FROM THIS WEBSITE! BEWARE!!! I ORDERED A BOOK FROM THEM AND THEY SENT ME THE WRONG BOOK. "Chegg worked really well for renting the books however when it came time to return I got the return label in an email and it gave me ONE day to take it back. Then when I hadn't returned in that one day they charged me an aditional $31 for not getting the books back on time!! Thankfully paypal is refunding that but Im unsure I will ever use chegg again.. its a bit upsetting especially during the holidays and I work retail so was working 6 days a week! But at least I get my money back!"
"I bought a book from Chegg and specifically ordered a new book. I received it quicker than it said I was going to get it (less than a week after purchased online). I got it and the cover is all bent and worn. Its paperback also so some of the pages are also bent. When you buy new, you expect it to be new. Not look like it was kicked around on the floor. This is my first purchase from Chegg and not sure I am going to use this way to order books again...."
