"I ordered a Mother's Day gift on 5/6 and was given a 5/11 delivery date. On 5/12, I was given a new ship date of 6/15. I called my Mom and apologized for the 30+ day delay. This past weekend (Memorial Day) the top went on sale for 50% off so I called customer service and asked for the sale price since the top won't be shipped for 2 more weeks. Nope, absolutely not I was told by two layers of management. Hmmm. I canceled the order."

"I ordered an item online which was supposed to be shipped "no later than May 11th". When I hadn't gotten a shipping notice by May 12th, I looked on-line and learned it said "backordered". So I called the online service line and the message said it was "preparing for shipment". Totally confused, I called the customer service line to ask if it was backordered OR was it being prepared for shipping. I was put on hold while the person checked - and came back on the phone to tell me that the item WAS on backorder but was expected to ship "at the beginning of June". To be safe, I was told, I shouldn't expect the item until around the 8th of June. I needed the item for a 5/30 occasion so the delay meant I needed to cancel the item.
What upset me is that had I not called - I would not know the item was backordered. I feel this was really poor customer service. It also upset me that the items from Chico's seem to be getting to be made of much poorer quality than they used to be. I think if Chico's didn't buy so many items from third world countries - they wouldn't be having so much trouble with backordered items."
