"I felt the need to comment and go against majority here, but I had a very pleasant experience with CompUSA. It being my first purchase, and a large one at that (Sony Vaio Desktop $2200) I was a bit nervous about ordering from them after reading so many negative reviews. However, I had no problems whatsoever, I signed up for their CompUSA credit card and had to speak with their customer service two times and they were all very pleasant over the phone. I ordered online on Feb 7th, and received my order exactly one week later with no problems. All in all, good experience."

"I bought a camera (canon sd900) from the compusa at "101 East Chicago Avenue Chicago, IL 60611"on February 3rd,2007 and when i get back home and tried to use my camera, i wasn't able to even switch it on. I went back to the shop and asked for the exchange of the camera but instead i was being told that the camera number and the number on the box are not matching and so they cannot give me another camera for that and instead i was being told that "people do such things to get their old cameras changed".
Now there are few facts that i came to know:
1. Store people don't have any way out to check if the number on the camera was from their store or not..instead they told me that they don't even maintain an inventory to check if the items that come to their outlet.
2. Boxes that are sold are not properly sealed to prevent anyone from tampering and exchanging the cameras between the boxes
3. I trusted those people that they will take care of any problem but instead they are neither helping more nor giving me a way out of this, instead they are justing saying that i'm a cheater

I'm here for a business trip and feel like i'm being robbed and no one is helping me out. I even called cannon people but i'll get my camera repaired and not a new one and i don't even know if they will listen to my story or i'll have to spend more money to get it repaired.

I don't think if i would be able to trust any of these store guys in future. When you go to buy something in their store, they will talk to you in a good manner and if any situation comes in like this then they would not even hesitate to call you cheaters or frauds.

A pathetic store and an aweful shopping experience because of morons they have hired

"This is a long overdue review but it has to be said... I bought a couple of things from this company last year because they sell stuff that the other two big companies doesn't have. I sent in a lot of rebates but I NEVER GOT EVEN ONE REBATE BACK! I checked the status online and NOTHING refers to my submissions. Oh, and POOR SERVICE too making me wait for a long time just to get help! I'd rather risk buying from online malls that waste my gas going to this place. The place is dirty and messy too. I thought they were about to close by the looks of their place! I've learned my lesson this year."

"While rather infamous for their poorly qualified sales
staff, I figured a web site order was safe enough -- what could go wrong? WARNING! Read carefully the rebate requirements and DO NOT buy if the original UPC
is required. Because then you have lost the ability
to return the merchandise to CompUSA if anything goes
wrong. This is exactly what happened to me. I sent
away for the rebate, the machine proved defective, and
so I shipped it back & bought something else from a
local store. Now they're refusing to credit my acct.
Corporate sponsorship of rebate programs that invalidate their return policy should be a big no-no.
Do yourself a favor, stay away from this company that
cares zero about its customers.

"My wife and I walked into the COMPUSA in Freehold NJ. We we going to buy a HP laptop with 17inch screen. I believe the model was DV9005 or DV9010.

I never envisioned getting so much pressure from the sales guy (a term I use loosely... refugee from McDonalds is more like it). HE was hell bent on selling us the extended warranty. When his efforts failed he brought in reinforcements and we had to lsiten to another inane schpeal about why we needed to spend $300 or so to protect us.

We told the sales guy no thanks and that we would just take the laptop. This is where the fun and games begin. First I had to wait in a line so that another person could take a shot at convincing me to buy the extended warranty. When I told the guy that I just wanted to purchase the laptop, I was taken out of that line (lest I convert other customers). I was sent to stand by the registers while all three of the sales guys went in a back room to get the computer. When the original guy came out. empty handed, he asked me to pay for the computer. I told hime I would not pay until I could see the computer in a factory sealed box. He went into the back again. He ame back out shortly... again empty handed and proceeded to make some excuse about me paying first. At this point my wife and I told him we were leaving to spend our money elsewhere.

Seems clear to me that Compusa must NOT want to sell sales items without extended warrantys. Either that or the sales people who they hire are playing games that are not in the best interest of the company or the customer. Either way, I will never enter another Compusa again.

"I have ordered a digital frame and a Microsoft Keyboard and mouse on 11/25/06 on Internet(The both product have rebate on 11/25/06). I pickup it in store early next day. That time I have put my credit card information on checkout(it means I have brought it?!!!).
When I pickup my order in your store, I have asked sale person about rebate. They said, I should have the rebate. Because you buy it on 11/25/06.
Now I have received the rebate from Microsoft, but CompUSA deny my rebate. Why CompUSA have same sell term in one transaction with different process method with other company in CompUSA Ad?

"Purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 online with in store pick-up option. At the store, the register printed two rebates ($60 Manufacturers and $40 Upgrade) with two different offer numbers. Filed electronically for both on the same day, 12-04-06. Both are shown as valid, but "pending", until return period ends. On 12-12-06, the website shows only the $40 Ugrade is shown as "valid-pending" The $60 rebate is missing.. I call CompUSA, and am told that a computer glitch is in progress and not to worry. On 12-16-06, the $40 Upgrade is missing but the $60 Manufacturers is shown as "valid-pending".
Another phone call to CompUSA, another "don't worry" response.
On 1-10-06, the $60 rebate is show as "valid-yes". Another call to CompUSA. This time they tell me that they are only honoring the $60, not the $40 upgrade rebate. CompUSA lied to me twice. Shame on them. Do not buy from CompUSA, they are not to be trusted.

"I had my worst shopping experience with CompUSA this past Saturday (1/6/07). I order a Nintendo DS Lite from their web site for store pickup. After bringing it home, I found the unit was broken so brought it back to the store immediately. After inspecting the unit, the manager told me they would not exchange it since the serial number doesn't match. They looked at me as if I'm a thief, and threatened to call the police if I don't keep quiet and leave the store. Only after almost two hours of explanation and arguing they finally agreed to do the exchange. If you are planning to buy from CompUSA, think again and save yourself some grief by going to a reputable store."

"Ordered a Canon Rebel XTi online. It arrived thrown in a box with the only packing material consisting of a short strip of Fill-Air with every cell blown out (in other words absolutely no effective packing material). Customer service were complete jerks and totally unhelpful. Was supposed to be X-mas gift, so had paid for 2d day air shipping. Sending it back for refund and NEVER shopping at CrapUSA again! Urge everyone to watch out for these jerks! Their completely uncaring attitude is evident in every aspect of their operations whether online or in store."

"Order #WB2884997 was placed on Sept 7, 2006. A few days later I checked my account and noticed that the charge to my credit card had been cancelled with no explanation from CompUSA. Assuming that the item was no longer available I purchased another router from COMPUSA that arrived as expected. I put it into service and all went well.

HOWEVER here's where the problem rears it's ugly head. I went away on a trip and returned in late October. Much to my surprise I discovered a box on my porch from CompUSA. Yes, the first router had arrived in my absence. I contacted CompUSA for an RMA but was rebuked because it was after their 21 day return period. I described the situation clearly again in a follow up email and explained my rationale in asking for an exception to their 21-day policy. No dice, if it’s after 21 days, tough luck sucker.

This was a darn shame because I no longer was able to get a hoped for rebate since it was well past the 30 days allowed from the initial purchase. Now I have an unwanted router, no rebate, and a very bad experience with the poor service provided by the customer service department at CompUSA. Guess I made a mistake in choosing them.

I hope that other shoppers will take notice and be careful about who they choose to do business with. I can’t recommend CompUSA and will never shop there again.

"On November 27, 2006 at 8:00am Eastern Time I made an online purchase for a Viewsonic lcd monitor that was advertised special for that "Cyber Monday".
I received a emailed invoice conformation of purchase.
After 5 days of not receiving any shipping info I called and they said it was still being processed and would ship very soon.
After the next weekend the item was shown to be out of stock so I emailed them and they told me it was on backorder and didn't know when they were getting more in. I phoned again and their customer service was substandard and no apologies or adjustments were offered.
This being a Christmas gift I cancelled the order and took my business elsewhere.

"Now I know why everyone calls it Crapusa. Ordered a USB hard disk enclosure. Got a sealed box, but with one cable and one bag of screws missing. Called custom service, told to contact technical support. Called technical support, told to speak custom service. Each call took about 30 min long to speak with a real person... Totally crap."

"They have lost me as a customer. Their in-store pickup option on the web site quoted one price, while actually picking up the product I was given another price. The customer service rep was very condescending and insisted that I entered a special promotional code (which apparently can't be honored in the store). Even after showing the price on the site and the line on my printed email that state the "In Store Price", she still wouldn't make good on the offer. Amazing to see a company that claims to match their competitor's offers, but WON'T MATCH THEIR OWN "IN STORE" PRICE! Doesn't CompUSA know the cost of one dissatisfied customer?"

"We ordered new cell phones online from Compusa for Cingular service. We got 2 razr V3 phones in different colors. One phone was shipped the next day and the other took 4 days to ship. The first phone was great. The second arrived with blemishes. Immediately I thought it was used or refurbished. I charged it for 24 hours. While setting the new phone up and putting in addresses I noticed that the time was off. I tried resetting it and pulling the battery. Also the phone didn't accept directory info and would not customize. They are overnighting me a new phone but I am truely disappointed with such a large company sending out used phones as new.
Buy from the store. You will get the phone faster with less trouble.
