"Oh yeah, bait and switch galore. I got an email that requested that I call them at the store to "verify my order" and of course these jerks said "it's not currently in stock, but the retail kit is" trying to milk me out of another $50.00 or something. I said no way. Then the additional price dropped. Fine, I said. I need this in a hurry for my customer. He also offered to "upgrade the shipping". Yeah great. This order sat on their dock for 7 days before I was told that "it shipped last night". So where's my tracking number? No tracking number could be provided to me. This foreigner tells me he'll email it to me by day's end. Did he? Of course not. I'm rejecting the shipment when/if it arrives, disputing the charge, and I am very of retailers like this. A helpful hint though... stick with Newegg. In nearly 50 orders from Newegg not once have I had an issue. This is what I get for trying to save a few bucks. I should have gone to Newegg in the first place. COMPUTERRIBLE SUCKS!!!!"
"Placing my order online with the company was very easy. The items I received were exactly what I had ordered, they worked straight out of the box. It was shipped fast from when I ordered it. Overall, a very good experience with this company."
"I had to underclock my processor from 2ghz down to the lowest setting of the motherboard (1ghz) just so that i could run cpu intensive applications without the processor heating to 70deg celcius. Even now, after less than an hour of heavy use the temperature warning will come on. I was very unhappy with the threats I recieved of being charged extra when I sent it back if your testers did not see a problem. Considering that I paid extra for you to test it before you sent it to me and your testers did not uncover this problem once, I find the chances that they will be able to see what is wrong after looking at it a second time very slim. So, I have made the decision to buy a replacement elsewhere, and never to order from Compu-Terra again."
"I ordered a CPU and motherboard from compu-terra on 5/26/05. Everything went well first few days, untill they called me, trying to upsell me things i didnt want. The salesman "peter" who was clearly forgein and using a fake name wouldnt take no for an answer, i actualy ended up bringing his price for a "warranty", express shipping which i never recieved and a "tested" motherboard from $20.00 to $12.00. That day i get an email describing what updates my 12 dollars got me, the descirptions were laughable at best. Anyway 5 days goes by no further updates or emails telling me whats going on. I did some investigating and came to this website and a few others and read really bad reviews about them, i decided to cancle my order before they billed me. I tried calling them and couldnt get through so i sent an email telling them i no longer felt comfortable and wanted to cancle my order. The next day i checked my online bank statement, they billed me, and no email response to my canclation or anything telling me the order went through, no word from them what so ever. I went to the bank that day to file a fraud report, i havnt gotten any word back just yet, but its only been 2 days. Either way i dont reconmend this site to ANYONE, absolutly the worst customer service and shopping experience in my life."
"I was very dissapointed in the website ordering, the customer service, and the way my product was handled/shipped. I was frustrated that before prossesing my order and shiping, they required that i call them so they could attempt to "up sell" me on their extended insurance packages. They also told me that my product would not be covered under MFG warrenty, which was flat out false. They then attempted to sell me a fan that i explicity said that i did not need due to the fact that i already had a better fan then what they wished to sell me. They then sent my product to me, with a fan affixed to the motherboard, with CPU installed and a cheap thermal compound that was very difficult to fully remove. again something i asked NOT to have put on my product as i had purchased a special compound for the cpu. the person i talked to on the phone did not even speak english well enough to understand that when i said "all i want is the motherboard and CPU, NO fan, NO thermal compound" i meant exactly what i said. I do not intend to purchase from this retailer again due to the horrible customer service, the inablilty to understand english and provide me with the product that i ordered. i did not appreciate having to do additional work to remove the things that i did not order, and risk dammage to my components in the process.
I do not reccoment this Resaler for the purchase of Motherboard/CPU combo packages"
"Company cancelled order, they advertised a fraudulent price and then told me it was not in stock. It was the first day the ad had run how could it not be in stock?? I will never do business with them again and would not recommend to others ,even those I dislike"
"I placed an order for a motherboard combo with RAM and a case. After 24 hours 'David' (not his name at birth -- for sure) called me to try an upsell RAM. They wouldn't give me a link so I could check out the RAM myself and declined. Then they said they'd give me the RAM upgrade for FREE ($80) but I would have to give them a good review. Of course, I would never be able to tell if I got the good RAM or not, since I was never given a model number or a link.
Then, after 5 days of NOTHING, I called them up and asked about the order. They said it would ship that day. I called back the next day when it still hadn't shipped, so I cancelled the order. When I said that I need to have my debit card credit right away, they told me it would be credited in 24-48 hours AND HUNG UP ON ME.
When I called back in 48 hours after my card had not been credited, I got a full voicemail box. Never got through to them again. Finally after SEVEN days my card was refunded.
Don't order from these people -- they are out to RIP YOU OFF!"
"I ordered an As Rock motherboard from them.I was told i had to call long distance for some problem i did'nt understand.I could hardly understand the guy on the phone, but it did'nt take long to figure out all he wanted was more money for the same motherboard i saw at Parts Pc for $1.00 less. Now I have my doubts that I'll even get the board or if i do,will it work? One time was enough.I will never order from them again abd would advise anybody else against buying from them ever."
"Ordered Syntax SV266AD VIA KT266A / VT8235 266 FSB MHz DDR SDRAM Audio LAN with cpu - AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 266FSB With Heatsink and Fan with 256MB PC3200 Memory Assembly combo Kit
Dealer # - CT:SV266AD1800M
They sent me an email to call them and said that the Athon XP 1800 had been discontinued and wanted to substute a Duron, then a Sempron CPU, although their add is still running at several search sites. "
"Tried to buy an Asus A8N-SLI DELUXE motherboard and got the same bait and switch for a none OEM version. Cancelled the order."
"Be warned. You'll get the dreaded request to confirm your order with a phone call in which they will try to upsell you a warranty, or give you the "non-oem" version for $10 bucks more. What a rip-off. I doubt it is even available as an OEM. I said fine, I just wanted the motherboard. Several days later I received an email that my order had been cancelled with no reason why.
Classic bait-and-switch. Don't accept this kind of dis-service. Pay the extra $2-$3 and order from someone reputable."
"the site does not say this is an oem motherboard. I thought I was ordering a retail motherboard,
this is bait and switch. they called me and tole me that if i wanted a retail mb that i would have to pay another $15."
"DO NOT BUY FROM COMPU-TERRA!!!
i ordered a motherboard online and then they called me to ask me to pay more money or they would not ship the item!
they said the item i purchased was an OEM item when their web site said nothing of an OEM status of the item.
they wanted me to pay more for a substitute item...they lied to me.
DO NOT BUY FROM COMPU-TERRA!"
"easy to order-but order did not go through till they made a phone call and i made a long distance call back just to find out that they were trying to make an upsale. Then the order went thru fine and came in and worked fine"
"I ordered a motherboard from them on 2-21-05 and received the "usual" phone call from them telling me that I would get a 2 year warranty for $7.95. I accepted and I sent them (Paypal) the additional money. On 2-27-05, I called to check on the status of my order. It hadn't been shipped yet!!! I told him that this was unacceptable and to cancel my order immediately. I also informed him that I would never order from them again. This is pathetic salesmanship."
