Recommended to others? Yes. While they are not perfect, neither is anyone else, and at least their customer service and tech support are high quality to fix any problems or difficulties that may exist.
The first thing I want to say is that all my interactions with AllPCZone/ComputerLX were handled professionally and with courtesy.
That said, I received my system and the memory modules I received were not identical and had different timings. One module did not work at all DOA. I called their tech support (spoke with Edward) he said it was most likely a mix up in the parts department. As far as the memory not working he had me try each one by itself and one of the modules did not work at all. He gave me an RMA number with no argument or hassle. They claim they tested the system but I wonder if that is really the case since it never worked for me and memory is not that easily bothered by shipping. The issue is the timings were different so while I ordered a 4GB memory kit I got non-matching memory. This was their fault but guess who had to pay for shipping (only 1 way) and wait another week for a full system? I made a photocopy of the memory I still had and included it in the RMA with an explanation that I needed the memory to be the same which is what Edward told me to do. The replacement memory just arrived and it is still not the same brand. At least the timings are the same but now I have 2GB OCZ and 2 GB patriot viper. At least the new memory works. Also if past expirience is any indication I believe they would replace the OCZ memory I have with another patriot viper module if I wanted to wait and pay for another shipping. since all I need is for this system to run and work I am ok with having two different brands. This is the very worst I can say for the company because everything else has been great.
The first thing I want to point out in their favor is a call I think the very next day after my order was placed from one of their sales personnel who let me know the motherboard I ordered originally did not come with a video card. This gave me the opportunity to order one added to my system. They also upgraded my fan selection to a deluxe cooling package instead of the fans I ordered without increasing the cost to me. At first I was not sure about the fan upgrade but upon receiving the system I was thrilled with it. They also upgraded the power supply to a higher quality model. Only wish they had liquid cooling options available. It would have been worth the extra cost.
I would offer a suggestion that they implement a warning of some sort to let customers know during the ordering process if the system is missing something critical like a video card. Most of their motherboards do include on board audio/video and not really being a tech savvy person I don't know what all the letters and symbols on the motherboards mean... I chose my motherboard by copy and pasting model numbers into Google and getting reviews online because details they make available on their site are limited.
Overall they did a great job making sure I had the best system for the money I wanted to spend. They took the time to call me and improve my selections while working with me and negotiating to keep the price of the system within my budget. I have a computer far better than anything that can be purchased off the shelf at a major retailer and only slightly more expensive than building it yourself. For someone like me with limited hardware knowledge the small savings to do it myself would not be worth the hassles and complications.
