" UPDATE: Aug 25,2010 - NO REFUND CREDITED TO MY ACCOUNT YET! I returned the item over 2 months ago - NO REFUND!
Please read the following to understand what has happened.
I ordered the PORTABLE DVD player/iPod dock for $39.99. I also paid $10 to have it shipped to my brother's house in Chicago since GEEK.COM does not ship to Saipan, USA.( I then had to pay $36 to have it shipped from Chicago to Saipan - so that's $46 S&H - so far!) Imagine my angst to find that this unit is NOT PORTABLE - that's right, you have to plug it in to a wall outlet - and it DOES NOT CHARGE-UP. This unit, despite numerous claims that it is PORTABLE - is NOT PORTABLE - does not have a built-in power supply - No Plug, No Play. PLUS, the latch that holds the DVD door does not work - you have to hold the DVD door closed with your hand to play a DVD. ALSO - let's not overlook that this unit was manufactured in 2007 - it's been setting in a warehouse somewhere for 3 years as an unsellable item.
Let's recap;1. the DVD cover door doesn't latch shut 2. it is not, in anyway, portable,despite claims that it is portable
3. It is 3 years old
Incidentally,this device only plays Region 1 DVDs and will NOT play any of my VCDs.
I really want my money back on this product. I feel strongly that the product was seriously misrepresented. However, since shipping has already cost me $46 dollars ONE WAY, I do not know how to proceed in correcting this matter.
Any ideas as to how to rectify this situation would be appreciated.

UPDATE May 25-2010.
A representative for Geeks.com responded to my email with a phone call. He graciously and politely offered to refund my money AND pay for my return shipping. Geeks.com then emailed me an RMA and a case number. I have confidence that Geeks.com will rectify this issue but I will not know for sure until the next mail post leaves from the Mariana Islands. I am very happy that Geeks.com responded to my email and trust all will go well.

"DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM GEEKS.COM! I bought a television from them to only have it die on me in 2 1/2 months. Thank goodness it was still under warranty(90 days)! After returning it, I was told they could not fix it nor could they send me one like it. I can only get store credit from them. What the F___ would I want to order something else to have it die on me too! They sell Junk!"

"I ordered items totaling over $99 and they did not give me free shipping. The site then went back and put a small print disclaimer trying to cover it up by saying some items did not apply. However if the items TOTAL $99 or more it should not matter based on their own verbiage."

"I ordered a G50VT-5X, and it arrived in poor cosmetic condition. Some people have reported broken hinges, bad hard drives and more with buying this model from Geeks.com. I only discovered this after I bought mine.

My main complaint is it arrived with a counterfeit version of Windows. I called and requested an exchange, and not only were they rude, they lied to me and told me it was out of stock.

They are now not answering my emails. Did they simply miss it? I doubt it, since there are literally hundreds of complaints online were people got a raw deal from Geeks.com.

I am glad ResellerRatings.com checks for fraud, because I have discovered what appears to be Geeks.com giving themselves glowing feedback on other review sites. They may want to take a hard look at Geeks.com on here.

People saying they got a prompt refund. Really? Geeks.com does not give refunds only store credit.

I have been spreading the word like wildfire all over the Internet. I will continue to do so, until I get a laptop in good condition with a legal operating system, and no problems. I do not think I am asking too much for $600.

"Do not buy anything for this company
I bought a refurbished Logitech Z2300 speaker set from their website and to my surprise, it came broken, yes broken physically and also did not power on. So, I paid over $75 for nothing!
The real story starts now, I ask them for a refund/replacement as it is a DOA the customer service tells me that I have to pay $60 return shipping to send it back for a refund. After that I sent several emails but none got any response. These guys should not be in business. These are the people that make the internet shopping experience horrible.
I want justice, I want my money back! You can not ship something that doesn;t work and damaged and charge me for it??
I will never shop at this site ever again!
And to all of those who read this, do not buy anything from here..chances are you will have a similar experience. If you still want to buy something then make sure it is brand new with warranty. NEVER buy REFURBHISED from this site.

And don't expect any customer service, there isn't any!! Not a surprise for such a horrible con piece of a company. NEVER EVER BUY FROM GEEKS.com or COMPUTERGEEKS.COM

THERE ARE BAD COMPANIES BUT THESE ARE BAD PEOPLE, NOTHING CAN EXPLAIN SHIPPING A DOA SPEAKER SET AND CONNING ME OUT OF $75. WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HONESTY IN BUSINESS!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

"I ordered a wireless baby monitor that was advertised as "pan & tilt". I had assumed that it meant I could control the pan and tilt wirelessly. When the item arrived, it did not have this functionality (and unfortunately, this was the main reason I ordered this specific monitor).

So I called customer service to explain the issue, and first spoke to a woman who was not very friendly - she said that it did not specifically state in the item description that you could control the pan & tilt wirelessly (so does this mean that when you move the monitor left/right or up/down with your hands that this can be advertised as pan & tilt!?). She then directed me to speak with someone in tech support. She cold transferred me and the gentleman who picked up asked for a number, which the previous woman never gave me (that's another story). After explaining the issue once again, he agreed that it was very misleading and agreed to give me a full refund. Unfortunately, I still had to pay shipping of around $10, but I was much more pleased after speaking to him. I just wish all of your employees were as helpful as the gentleman I spoke to (and not the lady). She wouldn't even hear me out.

The refund was processed very quickly and all other service was great. And I don't blame geeks.com for the error in advertising - I think that was the manufacturing company's issue. So I would do business with geeks.com again.

"i ordered a bluetooth headset from this company.. it came wrapped in a sheet of bubble wrap, it was not packaged like the site described it would be, and it did not work it also had some gimpy instructions that wasnt even rite for my headset... i contacted them by phone where i was met by some women that lacked basic computer and social skills or she was deaf and it sounded like she was smoking.. i recommend people to pass on buying from this company.. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE ORDERING ONLINE!!!

My issue has been fixed, my emails were answered in a timely mannor and i was contacted by phone by a professional who got the job done i got my new headset about a month ago ive had zero problems with it and im VERY satisfied with my purchase i will shop at geeks.com again.. "Bought a refurb Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse. Keyboard doesn't work despite my efforts involving drivers, batteries, and trying it on XP, Vista, and 7. Contacted Geeks, received RMA, however I have to pay for shipping. I paid for shipping the first time (when you sent me the faulty product), I don't appreciate having to pay it again. By paying shipping again, the cost of the keyboard/mouse essentially just doubled. No thanks - I'll roll my dice elsewhere.

Update - Geeks did contact me and provided a paid return label for the defective product. Rep from Geeks was professional and courteous. This was much appreciated and made things right in my eyes. Thanks Geeks.

"i've ordered from them a dozen times in the past. for the most part, the sell a lot of refurbished or old stuff at a low price. most of the newer stuff are more expensive than other big sites like newegg, amazon, etc, but on rare occasions, they'll have the newer items on sale. a few things i bought from them went dead, and i returned them with no problems. i live only a few miles from them so any orders i make, i only do a pick-up so i wouldnt have to pay the shipping. all the customer reps i've dealt with in the walk-in store were pretty friendly and helpful."
