"Eleven days after I ordered an item from CostCaptain.com and the item still hasn't shipped. Called customer service and they closed for the day. I ended up cancelling the order and buying the item at the local store for slightly more.

Update: I understand if the item is backordered but I'd also would have appreciated some notification that it was backordered so I could make arrangements to get this elsewhere before Christmas. I submitted a cancellation for this order and received an e-mail confirmation before I wrote the review. Thank you.

"This seems like a reputable website, but don't be fooled! A reputable website would not treat customers like this. I ordered items for 3-5-day shipping that I needed 2 weeks later. The site had no indication that these might not be in stock. They never bothered to notify me that they weren't in stock and never bothered to respond to my online messages requesting the order status despite their claim of a 24-hour response time. I cancelled my order and rushed an Amazon order on a similar product. Don't waste your time or money on something you may never receive.

Regarding the response, if my order is in a shipping queue, why did a customer service rep say that the item is out of stock and cancel my order the same day the review and response were posted? It sounds like this is a) a lie to try to devalue my negative review, b) further evidence that this company really doesn't have its stuff together if it's true, or c) confirmation of what I just said if the shipping queue is the queue of people waiting to receive the item that is out of stock, none of whom were notified that it was out of stock. Whatever the case, don't buy from these people if you actually want to receive the item you are purchasing!

"I placed an order about a month ago on an item that's listed on their website as 'in stock,' and I purchased it with 2-day shipping.
About a week later I still haven't received a shipping notification, so I contacted the customer support and they told me the item was backordered and should be in stock by end of November.
It's end of November and no words from them. I contacted them again and was told the item was still backordered and should be in stock early December.
Well, it's early December and still no shipping notification.
I contacted them again, however this time they stopped responding!
I decided to dispute the charge and I'll never order from this awful vendor again!!!
Horrible experience! Fraud! They shouldn't be allowed to take CC order online anymore!

"I have been using the internet to do my shopping for years. This was my worst experience ever. After 1 month and after they charged me for the item I ordered they responded to my email that the item is on back order and they have no idea how long it will be before it becomes available again. After I signed on their website the same item was listed as '12 left' at a higher price by $50.00. Upon my inquiry about this I was sent an email that I am being refunded my money; after 3 days I still do not have the money. Awful. Please as others said, run not walk away from this one.

This is in response to CostCaptain indicating that I ordered the item somewhere else. I provided all documentation to this site and the order number is in fact 6 digits, including documentation of the refund I finally received from CostCaptain. It is unfortunate that CostCaptain is not only unethical they also can not take responsibility; I suppose that is not surprising. I filed BBB complaint; if you go to BBB you will see at least 32 complaints from other customers. As I said initially, do yourself a favor and do not deal with this outfit; run away.

"Google shopper shows a 5 star rating for this company. I don't know how they arrived at that rating. I could not have been more disappointed. The order process was ok. But, my order did not ship after 10 days. I attempted to contact both their e-mail and phone customer support. But, got no response from them. I cancelled the order and can only hope the transaction gets refunded without problem. I cannot recommend this retailer under any circumstances."

"AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL How did I see 5 Star reviews of them elsewhere when they aren't even averaging ONE here? I ordered three LeapPads for my kids for Christmas on November 29th. On December 13th I get an email saying, "Sorry, they are out of stock." Two weeks to tell me this? When I tried to call, no one answers - you get put through to a message machine. Run, don't walk, from this CRAPPY online retailer with horrible customer service. $&!% you, CostCaptain.

And because this site won't let me comment on Mr. CostCaptain's reply to me, I'll have to do it here. NO - I absolutely do not want to be held in your queue and I'm not sure where you got that impression. In fact, I have emailed a few times to tell you otherwise. I am well aware that LeapPad 2's are in high demand. If you are out of stock, why do you still have them as "available" on your website? Why did it take you over two weeks to tell me that they were on backorder? You almost ruined my kids' Christmas presents with your crappy "customer service." Fortunately I found them on Kmart.com for only a few dollars more, ordered them, and they already arrived - three days later. Cancel my order and I look forward to telling everyone I know about how much you suck.

"Won't order from this company again. I thought I had checked this company out pretty well before I placed an order for two Otterboxes on 12/1/12 with 3-5 day shipping. Still hadn't received my merchandise and I've received shipments from CHINA that were placed the same day or later. No communication from the company at all after the order confirmation. Checked online and the item is still "in process". Started getting concerned and saw the tons of complaints filed since I placed my order. Called the company and just like the other folks complaining here experienced, my items too are out of stock and the company has no idea when or if they will be back in stock. SERIOUSLY?!?! These items are not in short supply anywhere so there is no excuse for this. Why are you still selling them right this minute on your website instead of indicating they are out of stock like other legitimate online retailers do? No notification of this at all and I wouldn't know it was out of stock if I hadn't called. Did get the money refunded to VISA but now I've got almost no time to get what I need. Doubt this online seller will be operating next Christmas. But then again it has probably made enough money arbitraging the funds it's holding from lots suckers like me who placed orders with them that they had no intention of fulfilling."

"The website clearly stated my order would be shipped within a day and I would receive my order in 3-5 business day. It's been 7 days and my order is not even shipped. What's FASTEST is to process the credit card payment, within a day my card was charged and now I have to go through the dispute with my bank. So disappointed, I wish I can rate them with zero star!"

"Do not do business with this company. I ordered a Leappad from them for my 2 year old for Christmas on December the 3rd. The company completed the order took the money from my account but I never received the product. I checked the order status on their website and it was still showing pending. I emailed them and received an email back 2 days later saying they were escalating this issue to the shipping supervisor. After 11 days, no product yet so I called them and finally got someone on the line. They advised it still had not shipped but they could have it in te mail by Tuesday the following week. Slow and awful company and customer service. I cancelled my order and bought somewhere else. Thanks a lot Costcaptain.com"

"Absolutely awful customer service. I placed my order on a Sunday evening and selected expedited 2 day shipping. By Tuesday, it had not been shipped, so I sent an email and received a prompt reply from a customer service agent who stated he was escalating to a shipping supervisor at that very moment.

The next day, I still had not received a reply, so I sent a followup.

24 hours later, and still nothing. I called their customer service number. It rang 4 times. I got a message stating their customer service hours are 10 to 4, EST. Since I was calling during those hours, I kept spamming the number til someone picked up.

The agent informed me that the item was on backorder. Nice of them to tell me that. I pay expedited shipping, and you're content to put the item on backorder, and not only fail to notify me about it, but continuously avoid my attempts to contact you?

The rep offered me a refund and sent a confirmation email. I'll be keeping an eye on my bank account to make sure it actually happens.

"I also ordered a Wii U in November. I joined their customer club for free shipping. I planned to take advantage of the club and cancel before the introductory period was over. The website claimed there was a way to cancel with in the club, online. They also promised many software products including Norton, not. I immediately canceled, but they still charged my card. I talked to my bank that did not approve the charges. They waited a few weeks Dec 9, and recharged my card. Stay away from this company, it is nothing but a scam. I had to cancel completely my card."

"I ordered a Wii U from Cost Captain and it was on back order. However they did charge my account. A week later I was at a store and saw that they had the Wii U in stock so I purchased one. I cancelled the order from Cost Captain and was told that they would mail me a check. It's been three weeks and not only have I NOT received a check, I can't get through to a live person at customer service. They are also not answering any of my e-mail inquiries."

"This company has the worst customer service i have ever dealt with. The phone number on their website has been disconnected and they do not answer emails. I ordered cordless phones two weeks ago. Havent heard from them yet but they have charged me for the phones already. It might be a scam not sure. I have emailed them numerous times and only got a generic email back with no order information. I have called my credit card company to dispute the transaction. I would rate this company a 0.0 out of 5. Do not buy anything from them!!!!"
