"I've used Crutchfield many times. Quick shipping, excellent directions, and sharp support folks to advise with your purchase and installation. Spend the extra money on the wiring harness adapter and if you aren't good at wiring, pay the cost and let them pre-wire it for you. Makes it simple plug and play. Well done Crutchfield!"

Overall pretty good

"Overall customer service was good. I think they just need a little more info in your database. I was a little confused because some of the comments from other customers of the Bluetooth module said it plugged into the xm module. I couldn't get an answer from customer service whether that was true and also where the xm module was located. As a result I pulled the radio and it turns out, I didn't need too. When installing the BNT45-HON3 in a 2011 Honda CR-V with an xm capable radio, you don't have to pull the radio. The unit plugs into the xm module which is located on the passenger side kick panel."

Helpful advisor but sketchy about products remote

"We have not had very good luck with bargain priced sound bars (perhaps the operative word is bargain). So after our 2nd sound bar failed within 5 weeks of purchase I decided to call and speak to a Crutchfield advisor. After explaining what our needs were he recommended a moderately priced sound bar. I asked if the sound bar would respond to our DIRECTV remote, as all I wanted the DIRECTV remote to do was turn the sound bar on / off along with the TV and the Genie DVR. He said he was fairly certain it would, but if it didn’t the sound bars remote was capable of learning what the DIRECTV remote could do. I placed an order while on the phone, it was promised to arrive on the Monday before Christmas and it arrived mid- morning on Monday and was in perfect condition.

I set the sound bar up, connected it to our TV (the sound was incredible) and began the process of synchronization of the sound bar to DIRECTV, only to learn that while DIRECTV had the sound bar brand name and the specific model of the sound bar, DIRECTV did not have the numerical designation for this sound bar. Calling DIRECTV was of little value because they said if the specific sound bar name, model and number did not appear in their list we were simply out of luck. Apparently the sound bar was too new (??) for DIRECTV to have in their list of compatible equipment. Precisely what I expected from AT&T.

So on to plan “B”. Programming the sound bars remote to learn the functions to operate our TV. The first step per the convoluted instructions was to find the code for our TV, follow some wonky steps inserting the code for the TV into the remote while basically patting my head and rubbing my belly while hopping on one leg. Repeated attempts, batteries out, batteries back in and trying again netted the same result. Bumpkiss.

While the sound bar is excellent, its remote due to my inability to interpret the wonky steps needed to synchronize the remote to recognize any component aside from the sound bar itself. As I understood the directions each component must be programmed into the remote individually (plus while the remote claims it can be programmed for each component) the power button even if it recognized each component only turns the sound bar on, then you must push a second button for the next item you want to turn on and so on. The whole point was to have a quality sound bar that the DIRECTV remote could turn and regulate the volume. Apparently that wasn’t meant to be.

To their credit the Crutchfield technical support offered to help me program the sound bars remote, and while I imagine with their expertise the programming might have been accomplished, the fact the sound bar required separate inputs for each device (TV, Genie, Blu-Ray, etc.) I felt that it’s complexity would not work out well for my wife.

Bottom line, we now have an excellent sound bar where we use it’s remote to turn it on and off plus adjust the volume, and the DIRECTV remote to do everything else. My wonderful wife who is technologically adverse is less than pleased we now have TWO remotes to accomplish what one should.

As a side note each of the different failed sound bars came with a built in “learning function”. You pressed the learn button on the sound bar, then pressed the buttons on the DIRECTV remote first on / off, then volume and the DIRECTV remote made the sound bar a seamless part of watching TV, or a movie etc. Unfortunately the sound bar I ordered only has a learning remote, not a built in learning function. It’s unclear if my expectations were too high or not high enough.
