"Called DV Century to verify that the full 8500 Retail was exactly as stated, and instock. Was prmised on phone it was a Full version as stated, 128mb card Retail. So I ordered the card, paid for overnight shipping. Called back to verifiy the order was properly fillable and shippable. Same person answered, and verified the order would be filled that day. The Charge went thru 2 days later, but no notification of shipping came in e-mail. I called back several times, but couldn't get anyone to answer. 6 days after charge I recieved my card. It was in a cardboard box, which I opened and checked the contents. It was 128mb ATI Radeon, with a nice but small heatsink fan combo. The pictured ramsink grid was no-where to be seen. The card was in a static bag under the cardboard packing form rather then in it. The box had the driver CD, and nothign else (No cables, no DvD Software.. nothing). This was Retail?? I plugged it in and though i couldnt do Dual Head, I could plug in a monitor to see how it worked.
Powerstip reported it running at 230/230. I wrote Apollo since I couldnt get anyone at DV Century on the phone, and they replied very promply in broken English "We only did seld LE".
Further investigation revealed that Apollo has never made a full version 8500, only an LE, which strangly enough has a DVI connector.
I contacted RMA about the missing cables and such, and after several days got a reply. They were sorry and would send me the missing items.. a week later I got a S-video cable.. no DVI converter, no software.
Finally got a rep on the phone. his response to my questions on why I was told it was a FULL version 8500, and not an LE.. the rep replied "It doesnt say anything about being an LE on the box".
I contacted RMA.. got a number imedeatly, mailed it back priority same day with insurance. its been over 3 weeks since they recieved the card. I was told refund was within 3-5 days. then it was 7-10 days. Finally refund could be expected within 15 days. Still no refund.. will contact the BBB next for help.. I dont know what else to do.
Apollo, Dv Century, and Rich something or other are all the same company.. with DV Century being the US online e-tailer for Apollo, and Rich Pacific being the holding company / wherehouse. Anyone able to help me with this?

"I ordered from them a 8500 retail. What I got was a 8500lele an oem version that can't run stable at the default 230/230 and crashes. Well I looked and the sticker was a fraud and the fan didnt even have the built be ati sticker on it. Would they take it back you ask? Hell no and the guy laughed at me saying, that yeah that is a retail board. I will never order from them again, luckily Newegg had a deal on actual retail 8500 128's for cheap."
"I would not buy from this company if I were you. I used a Pricewatch link to order some Micron 512mb DDR2700 memory with a 3-day delivery. After 3 weeks and many emails, I received a poorly wrapped package with the memory in it. Upon close inspection, the module contained Micron chips, but was a 4-layer board, no-named manufactorer, and chips rated at pc2100 (-75 on lower right of chips). At this point, 10-3-02, DVC has not replaced the memory with the product I ordered so I will be disputing this order as a fraudulent purchase with VISA. IN NO WAY WOULD I ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY unless you plan on loaning them your money for weeks and then sending you inferior/cheaper products than the type you ordered and paid for."
"Bait and Switch. DO NOT order from them. I sure never will. They sent me the WRONG graphics card in the right box thinking I would not notice... The one they sent is a noname which is undercooled and crashes when used."
"NOTE: The last two positive posts were by an employee of DV Century. The only way they can get decent ratings is to write fake entries themselves. Maybe they should try cleaning up their act instead."
"All I can say...BAIT AND SWITCH !!
Don't buy from this place.
Ordered Samsung memory and received some off the wall stuff and they told me it WAS Samsung. No where on the memory did it say that. At least I got my money back."
"I recieved the right product at the specified time. I ordered a Radeon 8500 for $87, on a Tuesday, and recieved it the following Wednesday (8 days), which isn't too bad for ground shipping. The packaging left something to be desired. It was essentially the retail box stuffed in an underpadded brown box. The card has worked fine, and I have no real complaints besides the lack of good packaging."
"Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I had read about this company sooner as I would not of made a purchase from them... Ordered 2 Samsung 256 meg DDR Ram PC 3200 with free heatsinks... Order arrived, Ram was in a 6x9x3 box, Ram was in a small pink bag and it did not separate the Ram from one another. This bag was wrapped in a small piece of bubble wrap with no extra packing in the box so the Ram could bounce all around in the box, not a smart thing to do... Well I did not receive the heatsinks with my Order so emailed them when I saw I was shorted on my order. Later that day I installed the Ram and it booted up as PC 2100. Thinking that I had not changed the BIOS settings I went and made the adjustments for it to read the Ram by SPD. Well once more it booted up at PC 2100 so I once more went to BIOS with MB manual in hand to double check the setting and they were set correctly. Booted again and the Ram posted at PC 2100 and not the PC 3200 I purchased. BTW; the MB is a Epox EP-8KA3A+ with the latest BIOS, it will read the Ram speed as I have some DDR Ram in it now that post at PC 2700.
Being they did not put heatsinks on the Ram I went to the Samsung web site to check out the ID numbers printed on the Ram chips. Wanted to see if it was indeed PC 2100 DDR Ram. The Samsung web site showed that the Ram I received was PC 2100 and not PC 3200 that I ordered.
Update.
Finally heard back from them that they indeed sent the wrong Ram and that if I still wanted Samsung Ram I would have a long wait as it was on Back Order, why not just say so and ask if I wanted to wait or not. I told them to cancel the Order so we will see when i get my CC statement."
"Well, others seem to have had problems with this company, but I didn't. I ordered a stick of 256 MB PC2700 DDR RAM, and it came quickly. It was kind of poorly packaged (wrapped in bubble wrap, rattling around in box) but it works fine. No problems here. I'd have to say I'm satisfied with my ordering experience."
"STAY AWAY - THEY ARE EVIL LIARS!!!
As with the other comment I have now read, I too have a ram purchase that went bad. Ordered 4 sticks of pc2700 512Mb DDR on july 11th. 7 days later with no shipment in sight, i get an email stating problems with my credit card. this was resolved that day, and i responded in email that the issue was resolved, and to ship ASAP. 4 days later, i still cannot find my tracking number, their computer system crashed like a month ago, and they have started to REUSE order numbers, and my order number comes up as delivered to Fl, I live in IL!
called them, and they have not shipped, the ram is now out of stock. I asked him how is that, since I place my order before anyone else that they are currently shipping the same ram to. they said that they do not hold it, they just sell it. and of course, if i canceled my order, i could get different ram, but there was a $30.00 each difference in price for the ram that they have in stock. I'm not going to pay $120.00 extra just to get different ram that i ordered. so i waited and waited and called and emailed, which the email they rarley respond to. they said that it was in, and that they were shipping it(spoke to john) called back 3 day later to get tracking number, and Issac said that it was still on backorder?!? i told him that john had said that it had shipped 3 days ago!
nope, it should be in stock in a few days. well on 8/7 i fianlly got it. missing the ram heat spreaders of course! Also, all the ram is on the bottem of the box, rattling around, because they failed to tape the bubble wrap closed. so i call them and tell them that they are missing, and john says he'll ship right away.
2 days later i get a message on my answering machine, that they checked with the shipping dept., and that 3 of them said that the heat spreaders were in the box, and that since they say that they were in the box, they would not ship them, and GET THIS, "maybey you do not know what you are looking for" and that I might not know what the heat spreaders look like. I have bulit countless PC's, and overclock most of them, and have put heat spreaders on the ram in the past, trust me, i know what im looking for. so again i call them real mad, and told that all this, and that i do know what im looking for and that it was not in the box. well issac will have to call the shipping dept. again and ask them again. i asked and what will happen if they still say that the heat spreaders were in the box, and he said that they would not ship them then! what? hello, I did not get all the product in the box, and you are telling me that just because some jerk in the shipping dept says that he put them in the box, that i won't get them? as far as they are concerned, yes
told him that I wanted a call as soon as he talked to the shipping dept, and that if i do not get the heat spreaders, that I would dispute this with my CC company.
i made him promise that he would call me that night wether or not he had talked to the shipping dept or not.
no call, and i called the next day and chewed him out, (i was happy that he answered the phn!) and he said that they will ship them out.
i asked for the tracking number
he said that would not be able to provide that, as the shipping dept will just ship it out, and only orders get tracking number that he can get
8 days later, i have still not gotten them, and now i finally got the PC up and running, and 1 of the sticks is probably been damaged in shipping since it does not work. Now i have to do the online RMA thing, and waste all kinds of time with them still, and i probably will never get the heat spreaders. once bitten, twice shy.
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE, THEY DO NOT CARE THAT YOU ORDER FROM THEM, AND ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY, AND GOD HELP YOU IF THE ORDER IS WRONG, THEY WILL NOT EVEN TRY TO HELP YOU - MARK MY WORDS, YOU WILL HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THEM IF YOU PLACE AN ORDER WITH THEM."
"I have bought several items from this company, mainly memory over a period of several months. The memory was cheap and very low quality but it worked. Recieved one bad video card and tried to RMA it. They ignore RMA emails, had to send it several times to get a RMA number. Their restock %is high, and then had to remind them thay had accepted and signed for the returned item and needed to refund my money, all this over a two month period. I will stick with Newegg from now on. Thanks goodness for credit card companys and the protection they give you other wise companies like this would go on screwing the public. Don't even think about doing business with this company. I know I won't. "
"Oh my GOD! STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! Someone said it eariler, they're EVIL.
They misrepresent the products on their site and then LIE when you have an issue with them. I ordered what I thought was a Radeon 7500, when I got it, it was a no-name card without a fan unit. The guy tried to tell me it the GPU's clock speed adjusts from 230mhz to 270 depending on your system!
I've called and written for an RMA, but they ignore me!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!"
"The best advice I can give you is to avoid this company. They have poor customer service, their product is crap, and their business practicies are questionable.
I ordered memory from them and after taking forever to ship it and finding out it wasn't shipped yet, I asked them to cancel and their Cust Svc rep Jon confirmed this. They shipped it anyways and I thought what the heck I'll keep it, BUT the memory was DOA and didn't post. I sent it back and they refunded the amount 1 month AFTER receiving my return minus shipping which with the order was free to begin and I cancelled the order before it was shipped anyways.
Cheap prices aren't worth crappy customer service... AVOID THIS PLACE."
"If it seems too good to be true....
Another Micron memory tale of woe. After ordering a 256MB stick of PC133 for my mobo I received a 128MB DIMM instead. Instead of correcting the problem by sending me the part I ordered, I was told that if I paid for shipping AGAIN I could have a replacement. Lucky me. BS - never do business with this outfit again."
"These people are EVIL! I order a stick of Micron 256MB PC100/133 RAM for $37. I recieved an email receipt with a link to an order status page. Unfortunately, it never worked. After sending numerous emails about my order, I finally get a response. They said their website was "down" last week and told me to reorder my product. Well, it all works out for them because if i do reorder, it will be for the new price of $43. I certainly wont reorder the RAM, nor will I and any of the people I know order from them EVER. Burn in he11 DV Century."
