"Tech support in Texas is bad and tech support in India is even worse pluse the phone line to India you can hardly hear. I thing 2 tin cans and a string between the 2 tin cans would give better communication quality. I do believe the delivery of the product took way to long. My Gateway Solo 9300 was ordered and delivered in about 5 days. This order took about 4 weeks."
"They debited my credit card *at the time of order* (almost £2,000) and didn't tell me. Then they kept kept delaying the shipping date.
When I cancelled (after I found out that they'd already charged me) they tried to sting me for £115 in cancellation charges! Then they escalated my order to priority status and shipped it even though I'd cancelled! What a waste of shipping charges! Are there any Dell shareholders reading this?
I finally got a refund 57 days after they originally charged me (after seven calls to a national rate number and nine emails to three different people). And they didn't even have the common courtesy to offer to pay the interest the £2,000 had accrued on my card.
Oh, and they never return your calls either.
If you want to give Dell an interest free loan for 8 weeks and have nothing to show for it at the end, go ahead and order from them.

"I was very pleased with the service I have recieved for Dell. I did an online order and application for a Full computer system and I heard from them the next day to finalize all the paper work. My computer came on the exact date I was told. And then they called to check to see if the computer was up to what I ordered. I would recomond buying a dell to anyone."

Phone support, once you get a person online, has been quick, pleasant, courteous (you cannot get a pissy attitude when on the phone, they will return your "favor"), and helpful.

"Ordered camera and CF memory and called right after order to split order because camera was delayed. Order was never split, 1 week later, i call again to split order. Again, never split, then I call a 3rd time to split, they hang up on me... so i called back a 4th time and cancelled, will check back later to see if it was actually cancelled since their phone support sucks. Will not buy again, crappy service, none-responsive techs, long wait on phone. wasted hours spending money, worst shopping experience ever."

"First and last time ordering anything from dell. Item listed in stock on 17 Dec and sched for shipment on 20 Dec. 20 Dec received email titled "First Notification of Order Delay". Said they anticipated shipment 1/3/03. 30 Dec received another email stating shipment was delayed until 1/13/03 and by law they were required to have my consent keep the item on order. I cancelled order. 4 Jan 2003 received letter from them saying order was being processed, that's after they said it had to be cancelled by law and after my call to cancel the order. Dell's phone system is the absolute worst system I have ever tried to use. Very confusing ( maybe they designed it that way) to use.

"Over the past several years I have ordered 3 dell computers and all have been very good experiences. I recently ordered a computer for my nephew for Christmas. It arrived about 3 weeks before Christmas, but I didn't open it up the day before Christmas because I was confident everything would be fine. Sure enough that night I started the computer and had a bad hard drive. I called them up (waited 30 minutes to talk to someone) and they verified for me that it was a bad hard drive. All they could do for me was send out a new hard drive (it's been 5 days and I still don't have it). In the meantime, I really question whether the hard drive broke during shipping or in their haste they shipped out a bad system. I probably will still order from them, but I think as they grow larger and larger their quaility and customer service will get worse and worse."
"My wife ordered a Sony DVD Burner on 12/2 with the understanding that the item was in stock as shown on the Dell web site. She was aware that a 10% discount would soon be offered but decided to order early to ensure delivery by Christmas. After several weeks, she checked into the order status to find a ship date of "... on or before 12/26/2002" for this "in-stock" item. Dell's customer service was anything but service oriented refusing to apply the discount that was offered the day after she placed the order. We now have an updated ship date of "... on or before 1/6/2003" - we'll see. Note that the item still showed as "in-stock" for three days after she placed the order. This is the second time we have had a situation where an item was purchased from Dell because it was listed as "in stock" yet it turned up as vaporware. I have had some very good experiences with Dell (ordered a printer at 8:00 pm and it was on my doorstep the next morning at 10:00 am) but these other experiences with Dell’s lack of real-time inventory management and their unwillingness to make things right will make me think twice before ordering from them again."
"I have yet to recieve satisfactory service from this company. I was supposed to have deferred billing and it was not deferred and they are charging me interest for the deferred billing anyway. In my opinion they lure people in with their commercials and if you are not able to call immediately are stuck with promotions that you do not particularily care to have. They are not easy to contact and their website can at times run you in circles to find what you are looking for as far a solutions..."
