"ordered a dell axim, and a dell desktop pc.. total price came to be $1510.50, i got approved for finacning and used it to pay for $1500 of it (or so i thought) then it said remamins balance is $10.50, so i used my bank card to pay for the diff. well it turnes out that if you go over the amount financed dell will not use the amount they approved you and completely use the other payment form you entered. well long satory short.. they charged the full amount in my bank account which i didnt have money to pay for the pc, and now im under $900- and climbing, according to dell and i quote " sir we have your money why would we want to give it back to you and have to use our financing credit you were approved for" that is mostly what did it.. till that point they were very professional..but since they had all my money they didnt want to continude helping me out to fix this situation and they told me there is nothing they can do to help me out. i could return the pc but it would take them 30 days to refund me my money, yet in the mean time im under in my bank account, and i have bills to pay, food to buy to fed my family, and im getting fees charged on my account from my bank and various other companies. so since they have my money they basically said screw you and ty for choosing dell!
they have lsot my business period once i get this fixed and will tell everyone i know not to buy from them!!!"
"I am very surprised to see so many complaints about Dell. I have always had very good service from Dell. My last order, I ordered a 2.4 ghz 4550 with a digital lcd. I've been very impressed and two months later it would still cost me almost $300 more to order the same exact system than what I bought it for. The only complaint that I have is as a business customer. We are a hospital so we have to deal with Dell through there healthcare division. The prices are almost twice as high as the small business prices or the standard home customer. Usually we get a discount not an inflated price. "
" I, like everyone but the small few have also been screwed by Dell. With not only the delivery of my computer taking weeks over the estimated shipping, but no customer service is available, and there is also no shipping tracker. How on earth are you supposed to purchase a computer from dell and expect it to arrive for christmas!?
im sure you could buy in may, but by the time christmas rolls around the damn thing would already be out of date! Dell is pathetic, and unless you want to take a 1/100 chance of getting what you ordered on time, dont choose DELL"
"Dell make most of their money from stock market, you got that right investor are fools, and fools are the one who keep giving away money to con artist from wall street. They are in bed with them and i dont appreciate that. so you see even with a bad reputation, dell would still make more then enough to laugh their way to the banks.
I can get thing cheaper locally with rebate then with dell why bother? oh yea alot cheaper like 256meg for free, with dell it like once in a life time that you would get even a little discount say 10-15 percent. A totally RIP OFF. :(
I would rate it a 0 if i could.

"I placed an order for the Sony DRU500A DVD Recorder on 10/03 and still have not received the item!! the online status does not show an estimated ship date!! and calling customer service is no help, they have no ship date either!!"
"Ordering from Dell is a nightmare! My first experience with them was so bad that my company will probably start refusing to repair Dell systems.
I placed 2 orders in a 1 week period. The first order contained a replacement keyboard for a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop and a hinge bezel. The first person that I talked to said that the bezel was $4.00 and the keyboard was $39.95. I got approval from my customer and called back to order the parts.
The second guy I talked to spoke very little English. He said that the keyboard was $14.95, not $39.95. I asked him 4 times to verify that this was an internal replacement keyboard for a Dell laptop, NOT and external ATX keyboard. He started getting mad and verified all 4 times that it was the INTERNAL keyboard, not an external keyboard. When I finally placed the order, he said that they only offered 1 and 2 day shipping because he said, 'they wanted me to get my parts quickly'. I approved the 2 day shipping and was told that the parts would ship in 7-10 days. If I needed the parts quicker, I could pay a $50.00 expediting fee.
My second order was for a Mainboard for a Dell 1.1 GHz Celeron system. the system failed 2 days out of warranty and Dell refused to fix it. The board cost 3x more than an after market replacement. Same shipping deal as before.
I waited nearly 2 weeks and received none of the ordered parts. When I checked online, I found that both orders had been cancelled. I called Dell and no one could tell me why the order had been cancelled. I was told that I could replace the order and pay the $50.00 fee to expedite the order and I would have the parts the next day. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that the supervisor was not available.
One of my associates continued calling Dell trying to get the parts ordered. Finally after about 3 hours on hold, he found a sales person who knew what he was doing, waived the expedite fee and shipped our orders overnight. I thought that we had finally come to the end of our Odyssey.
When the order arrived, the keyboard was an external ATX type keyboard. Even though I had verified that I was ordering the correct key board, my English challenged salesman ordered the wrong keyboard.
We called the same sales guy back, he waived the expediting fee and shipped the correct keyboard to me overnight again. This time it was the correct part.
All in all it took nearly three weeks, 10 phone calls totaling 4 hours to buy three parts.
Dell should change their slogan to 'Dude you're gettin' screwed'."
"Status on Canon S230 which I ordered on 12/17/02...It arrived at my house on 12/26/02 even though I had free Next Business Day delivery. I was not satisfied with the delivery but was satisfied with their price."
"Excellant price, Excellant service. Ordered a 19" Planar LCD monitor on Monday, delivered on Tuesday. Can't beat that."
"Do not believe Dell when they talk about rebates! I ordered a PC from them, with a $300 rebate, split into two rebates - one for $100, and one for $200. On the day I received the PC, I sent in the documents for both rebates. 7 1/2 weeks later, I received a check for the $100, and shortly thereafter a postcard saying I missed the deadline for the $200 rebate. This was impossible, since I sent them on the same day, and that was the day I got the PC. When I followed their directions for resolving it, I was told repeatedly by the folks at rebatestatus, their processing company, that I would get the money, and it was just an error. They never paid it, and now claim that it's up to Dell to approve. In order to talk to someone at Dell, you have to wait about 1/2 hour on hold, and the two times that I got through, their own systems were down. Seems pretty convenient to me. If you buy from Dell and are relying on the rebates, you should not expect them. Dell is playing a game where they hope to wear you out, and hope that you will eventually just give up. That's what happened to me, and I hope that the writing of this will stop it from happening to anyone else. By the way, don't think that your credit card company will help you on this by disputing the charge, I went down that route, and the only thing the credit card company can help with is the sales price, not with any subsequent rebates. Consider yourself warned!"
"Add me to the list of customers being screwed by Dell on the Sony DRU500A.
I ordered this drive on October 2nd, and at that time the drive was listed in stock and shipping in 1-2 days.
It's now 2 months and 13 days later and no sign of the drive. A complaint to the Austin BBB has so far gone ignored."
"Even though Dell has good prices with their coupons, I will never purchase from them again.
On December 6, I ordered an Olympus C-50 digital camera as well as an Olympus xD 128mb picture card. Their website said "usually ships within 1-2 weeks" for both products.
Well, I got my order confimation and it told me the products will be shipped "on or before" January 23. The camera is a Christmas present for my wife and I was upset. I called Dell Saturday, the 7th and spent 2 1/2 hours being transferred around getting absolutely nowhere. Finally, a lady told me that it looks like the xD card was holding up the order so after being transferred two more times, I finally was able to cancel the picture card.
During this time on the phone with Dell, I talked to one customer service agent who told me I shouldn't have purchased the product online because orders are always screwed up and it is almost impossible to speak with someone who can modify my order!!! I couldn't believe he was telling me this.
On Tuesday the 10th, I looked up my order status and to my dismay, the shipping date on just the camera still said January 23rd. On the Dell website, the Camera now said "Usually ships in 2+ weeks". So, I call Dell back up. After 30 minutes on hold, I finally get a live person and I am able to explain the situation. She says there is nothing she can do but she will send an email on my behalf to see if the camera can be shipped out sooner. She told me I will recieve a response in 24 hours max.
Needless to say, I never saw a copy of the email, nor a response.
Today, 12/13, I called them again, finally to cancel my order. First hold time was 33 minutes. Someone picked up the phone and I told him I wanted to cancel the order. He asked my to please hold for a minute. 28 minutes later, a lady answers and I tell her I want to cancel my order. She tells me there is nothing she can do and has to transfer me. 12 minutes later, a representative picks up the phone, and again tells me he can't touch online orders. I ask to speak to his supervisor and he tells me that I have to be transferred to a different department to speak with a supervisor. By now, I am very upset.
I get transferred again, back to the same exact place I started. After being on hold for another 18 minutes, Larry, in Nashville, answers the phone. Finally, he opens up a case number for me and tells me he cancelled the order.
All told, I spent at least 4 hours on the phone, just to cancel an order.
I am very dissappointed and I will never purchase from Dell again.

"Ordered a mouse and a monitor. Good price, decent shipping time, and everything came as expected."
"Don't buy from Dell. Their prices might be good, but their service is from phone tag hell, and, you may never get the order. Plus, they lie. I ordered a DVD burner and they said it would ship in ten days. It didn't. It wouldn't get here in time for Christmas, so I tried to cancel. Sorry, can't do that as they didn't give me a customer number and only the salesperson placing the order could cancel it and he wouldn't call back. I asked for a manager and got his personal voicemail box..which was full and not accepting any messages. Check out their website as far as sending Emails, too. It just cannot be done unless you sign in, and you need an order number for that. They have successfully insulated themselves from their customers. A technician I finally got ahold of by pushing phone numbers at random (who gave me an order # to use) said that I might have to refuse the order when it arrives or "dispute" the charge on my credit card. I have one of their laptops, but I will pay extra rather than deal with the lies and non-existent customer service."
"Ordered the 8250 desktop fully loaded on 11/25...was given a ship date of 12/9 when ordering...Then ship date then suddenly changed to 1/7 with no notifications...I call/send emails/post to dell forums and get several conflicting answers why it is delayed if I get a response at all...Now I am told that the sound card (Audigy2) in combination with the CPU (3GHz) has a 40+ business day delay...and yet when I go to the website and create a new order with the same parts, it shows a ship date of 12/20...Customers that have ordered this combination have been complaining to dell about the misleading website ship estimates for WEEKS but the website never gets updated...Basically DELL is just trying to maximize the holiday sales even though you won't get your computer until sometime in Feb...UNACCEPTABLE!!!"
"Have purchased from Dell several times. The smoothness of this transaction was no different. Have found them to be an excellent reseller, I own 1 desktop and three notebooks the most recent of which was purchased refurbished, it is in new condition and has worked flawlessly out of the box."
