"I just purchased a laptop with the help of customer service. Sales atleast are still done by americans. I have had to work with both the indian customer support and with the Service Department. Luckly both times I come out satisfied. The India Rep actually assisted me in getting my issue solved. When I sent back my laptop to get the Video Card replaced. I was very suprised to find out that they had also repaired a broken Switch on the Card Slot. and Also Replaced the Keyboard Cover that was slightly bent. I had a 3 year warrenty with the Accidental damage and i was very satisfied with the service i got from it. With my Recent XPS purchase last week I got it with the 4 year Warrenty. While i dont expect this one review to counter the obvious flaws in Dells Service and Support. There are certainly cases where it works the way it should."
"Worst customer support I've ever experienced -- quite a surprise for Dell! I ordered a laptop and Norton Anti-Virus for my daughter. Salesperson coded it as Laptop and NetNanny. I couldn't get anybody to correct the order. One customer rep accused me of lying and trying to change my order. (Would I order netNanny for a single teenager?). Twice I tried to escalate, but I never could succeed. Numerous messages on their help box were not answered.
This is not a huge issue, but the fact that they were so incredibly unresponsive leads me to tell all my corporate clients to stop buying from Dell.
Any company can make a mistake. It's how they correct it -- or not -- that is significant."
"Please do not buy from Dell - that company rips off American's. I purchased a laptop from them in 2006, with an "Extended 2 year warranty". The laptop kept falling apart and they finally sent me another piece of crap in Sept. 07. Now, that has fallen apart and they say my warranty - that I paid an extra $250 dollars for has expired. They included their 1 year warranty (which comes with the system) in with my 2 year Extended Warranty - this really only gave me an extra 1 year as oppose to an actual additional two years as promised. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH DELL AGAIN - NOR WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. IF ANYTHING, I'D TELL EVERYONE TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHEN THEY HERE THE NAME "DELL"!!!!"
"Dell Customer service is the worst customer service you can ever talk to. Before buying their fu**** box, they can even lick your d***, but later on they don't care.,..They will treat you like sh**...,... I spoke to one girl, she was acting like I didn't buy dell laptop, I stole from them,....... its better to get something good man, instead of getting this head-ache in bonus :("
"Dell will rip you off! DO NOT BUY DELL!
Dell had an offer for a $200 gift card for buying an XPS system in Dec 2007. I recieved the computer in record time -- but I have yet to see the $200 gift card (it is now the end of March 2008). I have emails from Dell confirming that I should get the $200 gift card. But they refuse to send it. After numerous calls and emails I've given up and have determined that I have bought my last Dell.
DO NOT BUY DELL!"
"Very dissatisfied with Dell and would never buy or recommend to anyone. I order a Dimension 530 on 3/4 and used a 30% off coupon. After several days I noticed the tower portion of the order was still waiting auth. from my bank. I called my bank and they stated Dell got auth. & immediatley reversed the charges. I called Dell, which is a horribe thing to do. You get routed to Pakistan, Phillipines or India.(Isn't Dell an American Corp.) and they are all named Bob, Christine or Mark. Now come on who are they kidding. They are trained very well to say"I'm sorry I do apologize for the inconenience". I counted this 23 times in one conversation. Anyway they stated they had no idea why this happened and it appeared that there was a hold on my card. No biggie I thought and the girl named Christine removed the block. After 48hrs my order status was still the same. I called back and this time the gentleman stated it was not a funding issue but my Nvidia upgrade was delaying the order. Ok. Fine. All is well. Wrong. Next morning I get an E-Mail that my order was cancelled by Dell for lack of authorization. Now mind you my bamk already approved the withdrawl. I called Dell for the umpteenth time and spoke with Christine again who in turn placed a 3-way call to my bank. She kept the girl from my bank on the phone for 48 mins. My bank assured her that they approved it and dell reversed the charges 6 times, twice on 3/6. Now the funny thing is, this was a three part order under one invoice and the other parts were approved. She said the order had to be cancelled and a new one placed.(more delay) She could not do it because of the coupon & transfered my to sales where the lady was glad to help. Except for the fact that the Dell coupon I used on 3/4 was expired now. She could not and would not assist in any way. The complaint was filed and was escalated to Sunny Sharma who was the worst customer service manager I have ever spoken with. In the end after 14 days they would not give the 30% on another order. I ordered the computer within the time frame of the coupon. The mistake was theirs(they wont admit it) and they wont take care of the customer. I think Dell has gotten to big for their britches knowing that my order is nothing to them because 1000's of other orders were being placed. I suggest to purchase from another company.
This is classic bait and switch inwhich they got sued for by the AG Office from NY State. Do some research and you'll find Dell is horrible!

"Keep your laptop in the best condition possible because you'll have a very hard time getting Dell technical support to help you out. Of course you have to speak with 7 different customer service reps before you finally get to the right person. And of fource it takes 30 minutes to get in touch with a support specialist once you're finally put through to the right person. But aside from that, this is where Dell really messed up: the specialist that I spoke with on the phone was trying to sell the extended warranty to me. He told me that the $250 extended warranty would cover any Dell computer in my household. The next time I had a problem with another Dell laptop in my house (my mother's), I called Dell technical support again and I was told that my extended warranty would not cover her computer. Case closed. I was lied to, duped. Dell would offer no compensation for this mistake, regardless of the fact that I'd spent $3,000.00 on Dell equipment within the last 4 years. Thanks a lot, Dell. You've made one satisfied customer out of me. People, please take my advice and spend the extra few dollars to buy an Apple. Customer service there is much better and their laptops don't crash as much :)"
"Ordered a Dell 19" monitor (S199WFP), it came promptly, exactly as advertised. No problems whatsoever, price was as low as I could find anywhere, thanks, and excellent job Dell. I also purchased a keyboard (2000198894022) from them, same deal, excellent value, arrived in just a few days. What more could I have asked for?"
"I pre-ordered a camcorder online with Dell, and I was sent a confirmation email. A week before the camcorder was to be shipped, I looked on Dell's website and found that my order had been cancelled. They never notified me by email, or phone about the cancellation. I had to re-order the camcorder which added another week and a half to the ship date. I would advise anyone ordering to keep a close eye on their order, especially if you have a date you need the item by, such as in my case a baby! I will say the man we worked with to re-order the camcorder was very nice once I finally got my call routed to him."
"I ordered an LCD TV for 2499.00, Sales Tax 72.47, Free Shipping if you use their credit card. I did all that. I got the bill for 2683.93. I called customer service and was told they added a "Service Tax" 112.46. This came out of the blue. This fake tax was not on any order forms or reciepts. But it was on my credit card bill.
I refused to accept delivery. I will be cancelling their credit card and never order from them again. BEWARE. Customer serive was useless and refused to let me speak to a supervisor."
"I ordered a laptop 2 months ago and i talked to one of their representative and his name is Chris Love and promised me to give me a $200 gift card after 4 to 8 weeks. I have been waiting and waiting for 8 weeks, no gift card was send out, so i decided to give Dell a call, i talked to one of Dell rep. and Manager (his name is Brian) both of them was deny to give it to me. i asked Brian the manager to call Chris to confirm and he would not call him. I think these reps. are liar, they agree to you on anythings you ask for so they can sell their products. I'm very disappointed and regret that i order my laptop from Dell, from now on i will not order anything from them."
"I have ordered a nokia n95 8gb about a month & half ago there was a problem with this phone so i called to get a replacement which was done on the phone but i still haven't got the phone so i called to see if i can some kind of credit for my inconvince but i was told no even that i spend over $3000 so far with dell & the phone that i have purchased about month & half ago is on your website now for less (about $50 less) but yet you still think iam not good customer to give me a credit for my inconvince which result that i already closed my my dell perf. Account and i will also make sure that will post very bad feedback about dell on every website i know & tell all my friends and family how bad is your customer svc. is and that i have to wait 2 month for my replacement phone with no regards to me as a customer &above all that the rudeness iam getting from your reps. & managers on the phone
"
"Perhaps the worst customer service I have ever received. I ordered a computer with their gift card promotion, only to be told after waiting the requisite 8 weeks (from shipping, not order) that it did not qualify. Customer service relies on pat answers, are unable to tell me why I didn't qualify (other than the offer was only available for "select" systems, i.e. ones they want to pay out on). For the love of God, people, bankrupt this company. Buy from Acer, HP, Apple, someone else. Dell's problematic lack of customer support is terrifying. They have lost any business that I would have ever done with them in the future. Go Dell.
If you don't believe me, believe 80% of the 1300+ people who've signed up to rate them here. It's just that bad. "
"It has been very good to me so far.
PROS:
When I have received products that are defective, they immediately send you a replacement, before the need of sending the other one back. You can send it after you've tested the new one.
Their warranty on the computers has been very good. They pinpointed the problem I was having to an AC adapter that I was using for 6 months, and they sent a replacement fast. The same happened with a DVD burner. Flawless service.
Customer Service has been very helpful.
CONS:
One time the charge on the invoice sent to my email was different than the one seen in the checkout page. Solution: they refunded me about 200% of the mistake."
"Super fast shipping, great price, overall another great experience!"
