"I ordered a Canon A620 on sale and 2 sd memory cards for a vacation July 22. A couple of days later I come to find out the camera is backordered but they shipped the SD cards. I called a few customer reps. (trying to get one I could understand)over the weekend. They told me it would not be in until July 28th, after my vacation. They kept giving me different stories as to when it could be available. Oh keep waiting it might show up sooner or later. I told the rep. I didn't want the SD cards without the camera. He said wait until Tuesday to see what happens with the camera then we can talk about returning the cards. I received the cards on Monday. I called back on Tuesday and got the rudest rep. he said sharply It won't be in until the 28th of July and there's nothing I can do to get it sooner. So I told him I wanted to return the cards, he put me on hold for a couple of mins, came back and told me he cancelled the whole order like I told him to. I never told him to cancel the whole order. He said well I did and I can't get it back. I'll have to reorder at full price, 50$ more. So forget I ordered it elsewhere. "
"I turned to dell after my last computer from a different company never worked, and I was strung along through my warranty leading to my current legal action against them.
I knew Dell was my best option, since my older dimension (about 5 years old) still works almost perfectly. I chose the XPS 400 because overall it was the best value for what I wanted, mainly gaming and 3D animation.
First off the dell support was very nice, they updated me on the status of my order within 8 hours of any of my inquiries. Their responses were both informitive and nice.
My order came a full week earlier than what was expected and worked perfectly out of the box, after I removed the usual few trash dell programs that are included, which is just the way things go these days.
The screen looks beautiful, it's an upgraded 19inch flat panel and the Nvidia 6800 along with the 2 gig of ram lets me do my art and animation without almost any lag and also allows me to play almost all my games at full settings and resolution.
Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase from dell, and I recommend them highly."
"I have been a Desktop Support person for over 12+ years and have been dealing with Dell desktops & workstations. Dell desktop/workstation line of hardware is top-of-the-line and as far as I'm concerned the best-of-th-best computers on the market. I have built my own machines several times, but I still purchase Dell high-end Precision Workstations when I need the very best. All hardware has issues, so just because Dell had a bad hard drive or something--don't blame Dell. If you want the best support, though, purchase the Gold Support when purchasing a Dell and I guarantee you won't go wrong. I highly recommend Dell Hardware to anyone who wants a good PC.
I've probably purchased about 1000 Dell computers over the past 12 years for all the two companies I've worked for."
"Twice in the last two months, I've had to ask for an exchange of products...one for the charger for my Axim...the second for the Axim itself. Their customer service has really declined over the years. After a very frustrating attempt to explain my problem and problems with communication...the replacement charger they sent me was an old one and not refurbished...in fact in had a thick layer of dust all over it, dirt and wear marks, and the charging dock was broken off which made it unusable. They promised to ship it to me next day...but it arrived 5 business days later. Getting a second replacement, they promised again, that it would arrive next day...it didn't.
Yesterday I needed my Axim to be replaced. I pay for complete care and they guaranteed me on the phone that it would be on my doorstep today...but required a signature. I cancelled my appts with clients (losing money now) to be there to sign...when they didn't show, I called. The AXIM has just been logged in for production and will not even be shipped for the next 4-5 days! I'm totally fed up with their service! What happened to the pride they had about being number one in customer service?!"
"Dell offers great deals if you go to the coupon sites first and get an electronic coupon. you just have to know where to look. with these special coupons, their computers are generally the best deal around. I usually build my own PCs, but it's not so easy with notebooks, so if ever I need one I always look at what dell is offering."
"Dell is such a mess now we will no longer use them for any corporate purchasing."
"On May 21st, I ordered a Powershot S3 IS from Dell. It was slated to ship the 23rd.
On the 23rd, I recieved a call from a Dell automated recording informing me that the camera was on backorder until the 6th of June. I called back, and as compensation they offered me next day shipping.
On June 6th, I got a nice email from Dell telling me that my order had been further pushed back to the 13th of June. I figured I could get faster shipping for a slightly higher premium from another vendor, like Newegg. I had applied a $35 coupon, and I hoped to get that back in cash to make up for that premium. I mean, it’s the least Dell could do for pushing back my order twice. But here's where it gets interesting. When I called them, the CSR could not refund my money - all she could offer was a $50 coupon for a future Dell purchase. The way the order went, I don't think I will ever buy from Dell again. I cancelled the order.
On the night of the 6th, I checked to make sure the order was cancelled. It turns out the camera was actually shipped that day, even though I was told it would be backordered for another week. Not only that, they shipped it via DHL ground instead of the next day they offered me. I only hope it gets here before Father's day.
Dell seriously botched my order, and from what I read here, they've been botching orders for a long time. Don't buy from Dell. Ever."
"Always a pleausre doing business with them. Merchandise always comes on time and they always work great. Sometimes, it's difficult dealing with the tech support in India when you do have a problem. But once you know how to handle them and deal with them, it becomes a lot easier.
But, overall a great experience as usual. "
"Serious decline in quality of products and customer support. Do Not Buy Dell products!"
"Dell sold me a "Soundblaster Audigy Upgrade" that in reality is just a software driver for the Standard Sigmatel chipset to make Windows recognize it as an 'Audigy'.
The upgrade appears on the System Components page, between hardware components and is not marked in any way as Software driver for the standard Sigmatel chipset.
I don't run Windows and relied on getting Audigy hardware that has better Linux support than the Sigmatel.
The fact that Dell sells a software driver as "Audigy Upgrade" was confirmed by Dell Technical Support but Dell refuses to compensate me for the deception or even take the deceptive offer off their website or at least clearly state that it is not a hardware upgrade.
It is not a big monetary loss, but I do not appreciate being taken advantage of by a large company.
And I appreciate even less that some rude low-level secretary is reading emails to top management and blocking them by hiding behind some nebulous company policy."
"I Made of purchase of two webroot windows washer from dell.com.After one day i looked at my order status and i came to know that my order is back-ordered.soI purchased my items from another store.Later i tried to cancel my order through email.no reply.Their cancellation process through phone is so confusing and time consuming. Then without warning they send me the item and i got a email from customer service that my order cannot be cancelled as my order is shipped.so i ended up with 2 similar items now. They return policy include a 20% restocking fee.so i am stuck with the item now."
"Horrible service. Below average customer service. Many emails sent with "pre-typed" responses that didn;t have anything to do with my concern. Made several orders, some had to be cancelled due to unreasonable delays 6+ weeks. stay away."

"Purchased a 20.1" widescreen LCD (2007WFP) on Thusday and it was delivered on Monday morning. No problems with ordering or delivery. Good discount using Dell coupons bought on eBay.
Purchased another monitor back in August 2005 and had the same good experience."
"Ordered an XPS M140 notebook under the Dell Affiliates program to get a small discount. There weren't any problems in the shipping process, and the machine itself was inexpensive and works very well. However, the order process could certainly use work. I didn't see my order in my account (though an old Dimension 4550 I ordered some 6 years ago was still there) and I had to contact customer support. This was, in a word, horrible. When I finally got transferred to the right department, they informed me that the order had in fact gone through and gave me my customer and order number. However, both were wrong (that or I couldn't understand the guy- he had a very heavy Indian accent). They did get my e-mail address, though, and sent me a confirmation. From there I was able to manually register the order so I could check on its status.
I'm not sure why this works the way it does, but it's probably the most backward example of e-commerce I've seen so far."
