"Never order from Dell !!! Customer Service is the worst I have ever seen. I made an order for an external hard drive, and then I see it will only be shipped in 2 weeks. Great, I needed the item in 2 days not 2 weeks. I call Customer Service and cancell my order (July 28th). I'm giving full reassurrances that my order was cancelled and I will not be billed. A few days ago I'm getting an update email from Dell saying that my order is on backorder and I have to endure a further wait. I email Customer Service saying that I had cancelled my order more than 2 weeks ago. on August 10th I received an email from Dell saying that my order was shipped !?!?!?! I do an online chat session with Dell Customer Service and they issue me a return number (I have not received yet my package). Today I receive an email saying that I will be refunded minus 15 % restocking fee, depreciation, shipping charges and other fees. For their mistake ?!?!?!? I initiate a chat session again and I'm promised a full refund with shipping and handling included. At least this little amount of decency. I will never order anything from Dell again as their Customer Service is the worst from any company their size. Do not make the mistake of ordering from Dell !"
"They said my replacement won't be charged for my broken AC adapter. I emailed them just to verify again, another rep said that i will be charged because i needed to return the bad one which the first rep didn't mention. Finally after a few more emails, they decided not to charge me. A lot of hassle."
"DHL (shipper) lost shipment (large monitor).
DHL/ Dell could not figure out status of item for 2 days.
Finally received call from DHL that they think item was misdelivered.
Could not wait another week due to business travel for new item shipment, did not want to wait forever for an open-box $1000 monitor that had been misdelivered that they could not find.
Dell refused to refund money and would not respond to email requests to cancel order.
It is almost impossible to get through Dell's coroporate army of customer service representatives who seem to intentionally delay and frustrate.
I experienced hold times of 30 minutes to 1 hour from overseas call centers.
Finally got hold of sales rep and forced the issue. Sales rep wanted to arrange for a "return" of a monitor that was never delivered, that DHL lost. Was finally able to force the issue and get rep to agree to refund money. Hopefully, this will happen as promised."
"Many people have complained, but I had no problems. I did get an email, though, the day after placing my order saying that there was a delay and it would be a week before my 24" dell monitor was shipped. I was given the option to cancel my order, but it was a really good deal so I decided to wait. However, two days after that I got another email saying it had shipped. My item arrived one day before the previous email said it would ship. Strange, but whatever. It was a total of 7 days from the day I put in the order until the day I received my monitor. Very happy with the transaction and the product!"
"I have purchased two machines since 2002 from dell both laptops. Both machines have been great and when things went wrong (even when I spilt something) they had me covered under warranty. I have purchased printers, cameras and software from dell because of their great prices and quick shipping and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. My latest purchase was a digital camera it got here on time and properly packaged. "
"After reading all the reviews on this site I was a little hesitant to place a order with Dell. But I got to say I am very impressed. I applied and was approved for a preferred card.
A couple days later I placed and order for an E510 online upgrading just about everything on the stock pc. The computer was at my door 7 days later!!
The transaction was flawless and the quality is superb, I really love the 20" widescreen LCD monitor!
Dells a big company and according to the reviews make a lot of mistakes, but my latest experience with Dell was flawless and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again."
"It's amazing to me how Dell's service/support has deteriorated over the years (both customer and technicial). And what's even MORE amazing is people still purchase - or try to purchase from Dell. Me included...
I am a repeat customer (unless I cancel before shipping) and my first experience with Dell back in early 2001 was excellent. No problems with ordering, shipped when promised, on the rare occasions that I called I immediately got through to an ENGLISH (as a first language) speaking person and the issue I was concerned with was taken care of.
NOW - I order a killer XPS 700 system on July 4th, in less than 24 hours my order was cancelled. I placed the order again on the July 5th, again in less than 24 hours the order was mysteriously cancelled. On July 6th I try again. Again order is cancelled. All of these attempted orders were done on line. On July 7th I give it one last try. This time I called in and eventually talked to a real person. This time the order "sticks" and my estimated ship date is August 14th. I don't think this is a realistic date as folks that have placed their order in late May and early June when the XPS 700 was first announced have yet to receive their computer. As of today, July 23, 2006, Dell has yet to ship the first XPS 700 to a "paying" customer. I assume they have shipped a couple of test boxes to reviewers like CNet and ZDNet as they have online reviews posted.
I understand delays and with the Core2Duo due for release any day now I can only assume that is what the hold up is. When you call Dell CS to try to find out what is going on, you cannot understand a word the person is saying.
When you call to place an order, you get an American. Or at least an english as a first language speaking person. When you call to get information or have a problem you are immediately connected to New Delhi or Banglagesh. If you have problems understanding them and ask more than once for them to repeat what they said, they hang up on you.
As frustrating as it is to deal with Dell, I really would like to have an XPS 700. If the system that I have ordered does NOT arrive by labor day, I am going to cancel and purchase elsewhere.

"I ordered a mp3 player from dell on the 22nd of June and it has been put on backorder 3 times now. I recieved a e-mail today saying it would not be shipped to me until AUGUST 25!!! Why the hell should I have to wait so damn long? BEST SERVICE MY ASS!!! I can't even get a person that speaks english. Dell is going down the drain and they are too stupid to notice."
"Its been two months of talking, even yelling and screaming at Haji, Sing-Sing and Ding-aling in India about doing one simple task. That is to send me the bill so I can make a payment, this seems to be a monumental task for these people
and I can only guess it's because their turbines are rapped a little to tight on their head making them brain dead. As I have read with other peoples' problems, you are constantly repeating the information to no avail. They keep calling asking when I can make a payment, I say when you send me the bill (this information repeated a dozen times to them to confirm the correct address) to the billing address in my profile.
As of yet I cannot reach an American or somebody that comprehends the Englich language. NEVER again will I buy from these idiots."
"My next day delivery took two days. Anyway...
The 24" LCD screen I ordered from Dell is beautiful. No dead pixels. It is a 500% imporvement over my old CRT monitor."
"Ordered a laptop on dell.com and applied for a financing. Since I have a flawless credit history and premium credit rating, I didn't expect any issues with that.
However, after 1 week, order was cancelled. No notification email was sent, nobody called me - nothing.
I've called the customer service - they say the financing was not approved (???).
It really looks like their finance dept never processed my application."
"Ordered a Dell XPS400 and received it in one week even with the 4th of July holiday!"
"My last order was a good price after 30% off sale, free shipping, and a $15 off coupon. Original prices are high. This is fairly typical for Dell.
While most of my orders usually go well, the following describes my latest bad experience: I was notified 2 days after placing my last order that the item was backordered. To their credit (+/-) they never said it was in stock on their site.
I called 3 weeks later to find that they cancelled my order. After asking them to reinstate the order, they said that the item was no longer available. They then proceeded to try and sell me a lower model for more money. After complaining, they forwarded me to customer service where I was conveniently disconnected. After I called back, they offered me free expedited shipping if I would place another order. When I wouldn't agree, they offered a $25 off coupon. A bit better, but I still can't beat the price of my original order.
During the process, one person I spoke to seemed to be eating while we were discussing my issue. That definately left an impression!
It will take a great deal to get me to order from Dell again."
"READ THIS REVIEW!!
I purchased a canon S2IS from dell. The camera came to $312 shipped. I was a little bummed I had to pay tax but it was the best price going. There was a little confusion with the customer service team that took about 30min to clear up. Everybody was friendly and tried their best. They were also getting paid while I wasted time figuring out what they should have known. Other then that everything went great. The camera was shipped lightning fast (using the free shiping method). Camera works great no problems! Great price, fast shipping, small headache with customer service, Im willing to deal with that. I say go for it!"
"While Dell still does make some good equipment (desktops, laptops and pda's) their web site and sales report seems to be falling into disrepair. I will still buy equipment from Dell, when it is the best in class (Dell Axim is still a great deal and a great product)."
