"Dell's practices border on Fraud. I placed an order using a Gift Card that I received through my American Express Rewards. I received 3 e-mails indicating the order was placed and accepted the gift card. 2 days later I received and e-mail indicating there was a "Technical Error" on their part and I needed to call them. After spending 5 hours trying to resolve the issue, having no record of the order or the e-mail they sent, they basically told me the card had already been used (yeah, on the order I placed) and they had no record of my order and I would have to go back through American Express.

I then sent 4 other e-mails to which they did not respond. They basically stole $200 from me and even though they indicated the error was on their part, they still treated me like I was trying to rip them off.

"Dell's customer support does not exist. I tried to get a floppy drive bracket for my Dell 4600 but could not get anyone from their technical support or customer care to help me. I have been put on hold for a long time and was given a run-around. I have tried several times but still no resolution. I will never buy another Dell product again."

"I purchased an Inspirion 8600 I January and since then have had a hard drive fail, many crashes on resume from suspend and now the panel has been out for over 2 weeks and no replacment unit.

They have terrible technical support and a customer care that does not care about customers.

I don't think that I would ever consider a Dell again.

"I was browsing through ResellerRatings.com to check out the hot deals on the main page. What caught my eye was the deal for the Logitech Z-680's for $217. I was already in the market for a new speaker system and I also had the Z-680's in mind prior to seeing the hot deal. So I clicked on the link and it directed me to Dell.com. After reading all the customer reviews for Dell.com, I was a little skeptical in purchasing the speaker set. After a few minutes of thinking, I decided to take my chances and order the speaker set from Dell because the deal was going to end soon. After all, $217 was the cheapest I have ever seen the Z-680's go for. They are usually in the price range of $250-300.

Two days later, I received the speakers. I am very pleased on the speed of the delivery. Hopefully, I won't have to deal with tech/customer support. I am fascinated with these speakers and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

"We have owned a Dell Dimension for only 2 years and we have called customer service literally around 20 times. The last few times we called to request a system replacment because we have had the worst experience with our system they simply hung up on us. We will NEVER buy from Dell again! The experience that we had from dell is what influenced me to build my own system and not even put up with all the companies. We still have 7 months left out of the 3 year warranty we purchased and it is worthless because they refuse to do anything with our system. If I was to rate the experience we had with Dell on a scale of 1-10 I would consider it a -6000. I consider myself advanced in computer technology and when people are considering purchasing a new system they often ask me what would be the best to get and ward them away from Dell every chance I get."

"dell used to be very good until i can not stand them anymore.

now their customer support is as if not there. 8 out of 10 calls, they would just keep sending me to a different department until i reach where i started.

they cancelled my order without my consent. i think the rep cancelled my order on purposes becuase i wasn't very polite to them from not getting any help(wish i got her name). if you talked to anybody on the phone, first thing you do is to GET THEIR FULL NAME.

so dell cancelled my order that I waited almost a month. then i had to reorder and waited for another month becuase of backorder.

it took me 3 months to get a single transction completed. i wasted at least 3 hours of my time on the phone on this single transaction.


basically, if you want good price and NO WARRENTY or have time to waste on the phone with them, then keep buying. I would think twice now before i buy from them becuase if there are problems, they may not help you.

"Placed my new Inspiron Lap-Top on 4/22/2004 with 2 day free shipping, but Dell claimed that the order will not be shipped out until 5/11/2004 from their factory. Hence by the time I probably receive it will be 3-4 weeks!

When I called their Customer Service Department even spoking with their supervisor, no help was provided, and the last communication e-mail from Dell stating that if I don't like it, then I can cancel it attitude.

Their Customer Service Department quality of staff is questionable, shipping is bad, price is only ok...Please do consider next time you purchase Dell otherwise you might end up like me who is now FURIOUS and will not buy Dell again unless I don't mind 3-4 weeks of delivery!

"I orderd a Dell Inspiron 5150 , Got the laptop. it runs great and very fast. but then the problem's started. Power corded died , motherboard died , then RAM went bad. Every time i call dell support , im on the phone for aleast an hour or more. then cant speak english and are always losing there spot in the book there reading. comon get people that know computers and how to fix them. "I purchased a dell 8200 and a week later I got a virus. I went to symantec website and updated my virus scanner(which I should of done when I set up the computer) and was able to get rid of the virus. After that I noticed some things not working properly so I called dell. They helped me get it straightened out. 11/04/2003 the fan got real loud on my computer. I called dell and they said they would send another fan in 1-2 days. 24 hrs later a van pulled in my yard and I got my fan. I was suprised they shipped it next day air. I had the 3 year at home coverage so it didn't cost me a cent. I just ordered a digital camera through dell for $254. The cheapest I could find it on the internet was for $266 and circuit city and walmart were both asking around $300. With my few experiences with dell I have been very satisfied. Also whenever I have called tech support I have gotten right through with no waiting."

"Dell has to be the worst reseller in the world !!! I placed my order, online, for a new Inspirion on Mar. 6,2004. Turn around time was listed at about 3 weeks. Couldn't keep track of my order, since there web site was never up and running right. Trying to get through on the phone was usless. Finally, on the day is was to be shipped, I get an automated phone message saying that it would be another 4 weeks. What a waste of time! Communicating with them was so bad, that the only way I could cancel the order, was through there on line forum. I wouldn't recommend Dell to anyone for any reason !!"

"Bought some merchandise, bulk of the payment was using a gift certificate. Had to pay $3.95 extra using my Mastercard. Had to return the product. Dell customer service has been atrocious.

When I called, told me they'd return in same mode of payment. When I told them it was a gift certificate, they said they'd cut a check.

After I returned, no checks showed up. A credit of $3.95 showed up on my Mastercard. When I call Dell, they insist a credit of $53.95 has been applied, and that I should wait 30-45 days!!!

Stupid Dell. I bought an Axim, not too happy with that. And now this. I am done with them.

"Purchased a Latitude X300 for my Small Business. Quit working six weeks later. Sent in for service (took 3 weeks, though over the holidays). Works another six weeks, then the same problem. At this point Dell offers to exchange the system, which was nice. Got the new system within a week, but six weeks later the hard drive gave out. Have had this notebook for four months, it's had to be repaired/replaced three times and due to that I have not been able to use it for four weeks. Pretty lousy deal for a $1600 notebook!

UPDATE:
Dell has started working with a new repair service, and I was amazed at their turn-around. DHL picket up my laptop on Friday evening and dropped it off repaired on Tuesday morning. When they replaced the hard-drive, the replaced it with one that was 10GB larger. They also threw in an extra 256MB of memory (worth about $50) for free. I was rather pleasantly surprised after the previous bad experience.
