"After a lengthy search of computers, I decided on a Digital Storm build. As they are custom built, I expected a wait. My order was placed on April 20, 2021 and confirmed and put into Stage 1 on April 21. They immediately charged my card (very unusual for companies I've done business with to charge before shipping). The one and only email I received confirming the order said it would ship in "30-35 business days". On June 1, day 29, I logged in and found my computer was still in phase 1...no progress at all. A chat box appeared so I asked Juan about the status. He told me it was delayed for two weeks due to COVID and unavailable parts. I said I would expect an email to let me know it was late. He snipped "We can't email every customer." REALLY? Any company with good after-sale support would! Then he sent me a screen capture with a GIANT arrow showing a link to the very top of the page where it says, "Read about our response to COVID-19." and told me I should have read it and that my computer was scheduled to be shipped by "the end of June...right on time." His attitude and the company's total absence of communication convinced me to cancel. The next day, I called to cancel. This person was much more in tune with good customer support (despite...or maybe because he was in tech support and helping out) and told me that it would cost 4+% to cancel, but if I waited another week, it would be without cost because they would have missed the ship date. He also said "I don't see why it can't be built by then, everything is in stock. I'll see if I can expedite, but no guarantee." Another week passed, computer still in Phase 1. ENOUGH! I called and cancelled on June 10.
I logged into Dell and customized a machine to be nearly identical. I placed the order and with FREE shipping it arrived 9 days later. I received emails at every step, and it actually shipped and arrived before they initial date forecasts. I sure would have saved a lot of time and not have been subject to Juan's snippy comments if I had just ordered from Dell to begin with. Frankly, if Juan had been helpful instead of nasty, I would not have cancelled...he cost you an order.
