Very sleek looking, and solidly built at a mere 6.3 lbs.

I really like the touch of the keyboard. I'm thrilled that the keyboard has a numberpad to the right. I use it all the time. The standard floppy drive is a must. The dual CD Rom drives come in very handy. You don't have to change the disks as much, and when you copy a disk, it doesn't have to first load everything onto the hard drive. I haven't had a chance to use the DVD-R-WR drive yet, but I'm hoping to put all our home videos on a DVD disk. All those memories will last longer, and the grandparents will be thrilled to get a copy! The clarity of the moniter is amazing with the Radeon 9000 chip. It's clearer than the desktop monitors. The mp3 player option that came with it, is remarkably easy to use. Now I can listen to my music when I'm on the go. If it's possible to love a machine, I do.

P.S. Just tried the DVD-R-RW drive. It works great, but DVD players can't read the disk. They are different formats. So much for giving the grandparents a copy of the home videos. It's pretty much useless to me now. Don't waste your money on it, or wait until a DVD+R+RW drive is available.

"I bought a chembook 2050-c and I LOVE IT!!!

I wanted something that I could use for software and web development. It needed to be able to run a dual boot of win2k and redhat. I also wanted a laptop whose battery life would last longer than 2 hours. This laptop is my answer.

Not only does it run quite (you can hardly hear the fan when it does come on) it dosen't get to warm. I had it setting in my lap while I installed both operating systems. I also love how sturdy the keyboard is....I hate those flimsy keyboards. Overall the hardware is excellent! (Love the combo drive, movies look great on this machine)

The operating systems both went on. Win2k without a problem redhat with a little more difficulty. The problem with redhat was the version I like was made before my graphics controller so it didn't recoginze it. It only took a small update of XFree86 and it was up and running. Now I have both OS's and they are running great.

Not only is the laptop great I loved the carrying case and the software that came with it. The carrying case is sturdy and slim so that I can place it in my bagpack. Also I received fresh copies of Nero (for cd burning) and Windvd, these are 2 of the best programs out there.

Now on to customer service....it was the best I have ever had! Wonerful, knowlegable staff (which is something I could not find at bestbuy, dell or circuit city) that answered all my presale questions. I was most impressed when they also offered me answers to my linux questions. Most namebrand companies didn't even try.

I have posted out on google many posts about how great this laptop is and what a great vendor discountlaptops is. They have gone above and beyond any namebrand machine out there. My next laptop will be purchased here again.
