"When I first saw discountlaptops.com, I couldn't believe the prices, so I called them to make sure it wasn't some kind of scam. The prices are in fact real and I just ordered a Chembook 2056 with:

2.0 Ghz Pentium M
1024 meg of Corsair RAM
60 gig 7200 RPM harddrive
and DVD-R.

The computer shipped suprisingly fast (the next day) and should be here a week after the order was put in. I am currently waiting for it.


After receiving the computer, I had problems installing the operating system. I thought I had a bad cd but later realized it was the computer. I let discountlaptops know about this via e-mail. The next morning they had diagnosed the problem and were already sending me new RAM. The computer now works perfectly with the new RAM and it's very fast. The people were friendly, comforting, and very helpful as they solved my technical difficulties. There was some incompatibility with the Corsair ram I selected for my laptop, which subsequently caused the machine to crash. I am a commuting law student who needs a laptop for LexisNexis access, so I contacted Discount Laptops with my concerns and they immediately rectified the situation. Matt Richards, the owner I presume, offered to ship a replacement DIMM next day air as well as reimburse me for my trouble! Who does that!?! I, of course, just wanted a ram replacement (it would be unethical to take reimbursement for such excellent service), so Matt shipped it out and it arrived today. "Discountlaptops.com rocks! I ordered a Sager 3790 on Monday, 12/6/04. About fifteen minutes after I placed the online order, I decided to change my order to include a higher resolution screen. I called the number in an email confirmation I just received, to find they were already processing the order with Sager! It was no problem for them to change it and the person I spoke with was very friendly. I also asked if there was anything they could do to speed up shipment, because I was going on a vacation in 2 weeks, and they said they would ask Sager to expedite the order for me (I was using the CA reverse shipping option so next-day air wouldn't help much).
