"I love our new furniture. After seven years of plastic, having real furniture crafted from wood in classic designs is an immense relief and joy. I considered trendy furniture. But such designs will fade with time, and such construction is weak. I ordered two glass enclosed bookcases, a secretary desk, a round table with chairs, dictionary stands, a small sofa table, and a beautiful "mule chest" for our bedroom in Oak with the Boston finish. Gorgeous. I just ordered the Pittsburgh bed to complete our apartment. "After not being able to find a durable TV stand in the size I wanted locally, I decided to hit the Internet. I was initially leery of shopping for furniture online, since I would not be able to view the finish before purchasing to confirm it would match my other furniture. I was reassured, however, when I saw that Dutchcrafters mails stain samples prior to the furniture being built.
I placed my order for the Amish 40" Shaker TV Stand With 2 Doors, chose a stain that I thought would match my other furniture, and then requested the three stain sample choices be mailed to me. After not receiving them, I emailed customer service to see if the stain samples had been sent. I was told they forgot to send the samples. I asked if it was too late to make changes to my chosen sample, and was told it was too late.
My furniture arrived today, and while the quality of the materials and craftsmanship are top-notch, the finish of the furniture was too light. Had I received the stain samples as promised, I would have changed the stain. It might seen like a minor quibble, but after shipping, the cost of the TV stand was rather high for something I am not completely happy with.
Again, the quality of furniture is stunning, and it is beautiful.

I received a call today from Dutchcrafters' customer service department. They refunded me $75 of the purchase price and apologized for the mix up. They did not have to do this, and I appreciate their effort.

"Very unhappy with my purchase. I paid extra for marine varnish on a garden wheel barrow.... the entire piece was sticky, marred, and several large areas were covered with "run" drip marks....apparently applied too thick and not brushed out. Shipped before curing properly...when I poked into a "drip"...still got wet varnish on my finger! Also, took longer to receive this order than anticipated.
Update: Received a second shipment the end of November, but my husband has been too busy to even open the box! I am please that this Vendor did call quickly and worked to make us happy customers. I am anticipating a better quality product this time... if not, you'll hear from me :) Thank you!"
