"OUTSTANDING! Fast shipping, easy to reach and helpful customer service. I have bought numerous games and hardware from them, with no problems. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."
"About a week ago, either Friday or Saturday, I ordered the Nintendo GameCube Zelda bundle with a Nyko brand memory card.
On Tuesday I received my GameCube, and a 4Mb memory card. The one I ordered was 8Mb. I called ebgames and explained what happened. The person on the phone said when they recieved the 4Mb memory card from me, they would send me an 8Mb. I explained my frustration at having this new GameCube without the ability to really use it. He said he would send it out the next day, 1 day air mail. I was happy.
The next day (Wednesday) the 4Mb card was shipped back to them. I checked my email, and there was one from ebgames saying my credit card was denied. I called them and my understanding was they were charging me for the 8Mb card, and would refund me when the 4Mb arrived. Absolutely fine. Except for the fact that my bank account is empty. I live in the middle of nowhere, and getting money into the bank in a hurry isn't convenient. The person on the phone explained that I would have to wait for the 4Mb card to be recieved by them, they would credit my account for it, then charge me for the 8Mb card and send it. Again I explained my frustration at not being able to play my new games. If we were dealing with $100 dollar items, I would understand the approach they were using. If I ordered something and then decided to return it, it would be ok too. I explained my opinion, that a huge company like this should not worry so much about a $10 memory card, especially when it is their own mistake that is being corrected, and added that I would be writing about this on the internet.
He talked to a supervisor, and when he came back told me that I would have to give them the tracking number for the package I sent back first. At this point it is beginning to feel like a hostage negotiation. I asked for his name, so I could continue with him when I got the tracking number. Brian. No last name? No, I am the only Brian here. OK.
I called the person who mailed it in for me, called the place they used to ship it, and got the tracking number. I called back and asked for Brian. Brian who? After an unimportant exchange I learned that there were a lot of people there, and most likely a lot of Brians, weird. Anyway I gave him the tracking number and he told me they would ship it today. 1 day air? Yes. This was at about 2-3PM.
The next day (Thursday) at around 9PM I called ebgames to get the tracking number of the package that should have been here by now and ask when it was shipped. This morning (a day late). I have never sold video games, but I have worked in a business selling things by mail. Any competent business will have a priority queue for orders like this. When you have already screwed up with a customer, you try to keep them happy the best you can. Either they don't do that, and/or their last batch of shipments goes out before 2-3PM. Neither seems likely, but anyway no big deal. It just turned into a 2-day shipment.
Friday I still didn't get it, so I called fedex. They couldn't find my house (told you I live in the middle of nowhere). At least it wasn't ebgames fault.
Saturday, the package arrives. Yes! It is finally over, or so I think. I open the box up and to my surprise, it is a 4Mb card, just like the one I mailed them (actually a different color). Just like on tuesday, I have a 4Mb card in my hands when I should have an 8Mb card.
I called back, explained everything that has happened so far, and the person on the phone talks to a supervisor. He comes back talking about SKU's and how it is all the warehouse's fault. It is usually nice to know what is going on, but I just want my 8Mb memory card. He says there are only 4Mb cards and 16Mb cards, and that a 4Mb card will be shipped to me. All I want is an 8Mb card, and again they show their inability to handle even simple problems. When an error is being corrected, the person putting the order together and into the box to ship should know what happened last time. It is as simple as that. If they were organized, the packing slip would say "Customer ordered 8Mb card, recieved 4Mb card". Then the mistake doesn't repeat itself.
They said they had only have 4Mb cards, yet when I asked if everybody ordering these 8Mb cards is getting 4Mb cards, I was told I was the only one. This makes absolutely no sense. So is everyone else actually getting 8Mb cards and for some reason I am the only one they can't send it to? Or maybe nobody else has noticed they are being ripped off. Today (monday)they still have the 8Mb cards on their web site, and no 4Mb cards. Either they are intentionally ripping people off, or for the third time, are displaying incompetence by not updating their web page when something goes out of stock.
So if you like dealing with incompetent businesses that drag their feet as much as they can while fixing their own mistakes, and you need hostage negotiation training, go with ebgames.

"Ordered Grand Theft Auto Vice City around 1:20pm on 11/28/03 for a special price of $9.99, free shipping, and a total cost of $10.59 with tax!
Received order confirmation minutes later.
By 11:30pm of the same day I received another email notifying me that the item was already shipped!
Received the package via USPS Media Mail on 12/04/03 in perfect condition. Brand new retail packaged Vice City PC version. Awesome deal, and my experience would lead me to make another purchase from them in the future if the price is right again!"
"I ordered 2 games with the black friday deal, and my shipping total came out wrong, so i cancelled it, then i tried again and it said my coupon code wouldnt work. So 5 phone calls later (a span of 6 hours) i finally talked to a guy who could helped me. It got me setup with the games i wanted, used the coupon code himself, and i got exactly what i wanted. It was quite a hassle though, but luckily it all turned out alright."
"Great prices, fast shipping, great store! I picked up a bunch of Gamecube games (pre-owned), and they all arrived in almost new condition with manuals and original boxes."
"I ordered Warcraft 3 and its new expansion for 55 dollars (after rebate) and I got a bunch of extras such as a poster and the warcraft 3 box set items. That is what I would call a good deal. Not only that, I got free overnight shipping, and it did come overnight. I highly recommend anyone to purchase here."
"Pre-ordered a game, forgot to put in coupon code for free shipping. Emailed them, and within an hour it was resolved and I got my free shipping :). Great service, fast delivery, will order from again."
"Great Company. Order a GBA SP and a few games and got them about 3days later. Everything was packed fairly well and their customer service resonds fairly quickly. I would recommend this seller to anyone. "
"Fast shipping and great price for a Platinum GC w/Zelda. "
"Once again I ordered a game (EQ expansion) and placing the order on the website was easy and they had a super fast delivery! They definately have my business."
"Bought a game for my PS2 and man what a low price! Not even Ebay had a lower price on it! So I gotta give these guys a big "Way to Go!" for the low price, easy shopping, easy checkout, and for sending a totaly brand new in all ways game for lower than used on ebay price. But, they need to speed up the shipping in a BAD way. It took way to friggin long for it to get here. For $5 shipping by a Large Corporation like they are, they really need to fix this very badly. I mean, $5 shipping from a Major corporation and it takes 10 or 11 days to get here? Come on! If I can pay less than $5 and get Priority shipping by the USPS then they can spend $5 for at least a decent shipping speed. Other than shipping I'm very very happy with my order and will shop with them again for sure! They just need to read this and find a way to ship things out within their budget tolerances that has a decent delivery ETA per package. After all, this is in a DVD size container, not exactly a hard to ship item, takes up hardly any space."
"Everything went through smooth, they were giving 25% off all preowned DVDs, which ended up being a great deal. I even got one that was never opened. All of them were in great shape, and the shipping was farily fast via UPS. Great would shop with them again."
"I pre-ordered a copy of marvel vs capcom 2 for the Playstation 2 which included free shipping. The day it was released it was waiting at my door step early in the morning, they gave me free overnight shipping.
Also pre-ordered Legend of Zelda: the windwaker for gamecube, After finding out that a bonus disc could be shipped a month earlier for a $5 shipping fee I contacted them asking if they could upgrade my order so the bonus disc could be shipped when it was released, the next day recieved a confirmation email that my order has been upgraded and will ship accordingly. Both items came ASAP and am very satisfied. "
"I am very unhappy with there return process because it cost me twice the money. First the used game was not working and probably was not tested before shipment. It cost me $8 to ship it back using UPS ground. Instead of just replacing the disc, they had refunded me and charge me for a higher price to replace it with another use disc."
"I have ordered games from them several times for my son and and have always been satisfied with their products and service.
The items arrive quickly and they have, yet, to have an item "not in stock" after they said it was. From my experience with them, I would highly recommend them. I hope they never change."
