"Scammers, They send you broken crap and then have a policy that you have to have a written request for a RMA within 10 calendar days, basicly by the time you have a computer repair person install the part and figure out it is broken your chance of an RMA is like 1%. It took me the better part of the ten days just to figure out the new part I ordered was garbage. Then when you call them they say to email customer service then after a few days and a few questions are asked they say you have to fill out a RMA request, then you do and they snail mail you a letter saying you have to hand write a RMA request and get it to them before the 10 days is up even though they have an online form submittal. All this to ensure NO ONE gets there money back for buyng broken crap from these scammers

"etechsiliconvalley.com review - They are thief’s and liars.

If I could give 0/5 stars I would or even negative stars. They took broken parts off of a laptop and sold them to me. Yes, they were physically broken. One was a hinge that was broken in half. The two bezel parts has broken screw mounts. It was a terrible experience. They said they would reimburse me for return shipping and the didn't. I had to file a complaint with Paypal.com and with the BBB to get my original payment back. In the RMA email they sent me they said they would pay return shipping of the broken parts so they could verify that they were broken. I paid $13 to ship the parts back and now they are telling me that they won't pay for the return shipping. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM. The police from Santa Cara, CA should investigate this company and shut them down. All reviews are negative for this company. Don’t believe any positive reviews. They are fake!!!

I called their local police and they said that everyone that has a complaint should contact the BBB.ORG and file a complaint (Like I did) so this company can be shut down.

"The only thing they did right was fast shipping.
Ordered two harddrives and neither one was good. The first was nothing like what I had ordered (a 250g IDE, received a 360g SATA). The other drive was DOA.
The next morning I send an email to customer service to ask how to return them.... and never hear anything back. So send one to sales a week later, fill out their forum, then get a letter in the mail saying I was over the 10 day policy.
Of course I was BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T ANSWER EMAILS

Will NEVER do ANY business with them again, and will actively tell others to avoid

"I used to like E-Tech, until I received a defective product tagged with a replacement only return policy. I was disappointed with the customer service in that while the item was Replacement Only, they sent me a lot of faulty replacements, and the working replacement I eventually got was used.

However, I was contacted by E-Tech and they reimbursed me for my time and troubles. In my opinion a good retailer, while not always perfect, will fix their problems, and that is very hard to find in today's marketplace. This is why I will still recommend and shop at E-Tech.

"Purchasing used computer equipment/parts is always a difficult proposition - particularly on-line. The state of the purchased items can not be unequivocally clear as it can with a new shrink wrapped item in a sealed box.

I have had two interactions with E-Tech with slightly different results for each. The first was the replacement of the motherboard for my workhorse T42 Thinkpad. I walked my T42 in to their Santa Clara CA office and had it back in 4 days and it has functioned flawlessly 8 hrs/day since.

Since the price was right and the service was... surprisingly good I decided to take my spare part T42 to them to transform it to a fully functional back up. They delivered in the same speedy fashion, so I tested it and put it on the shelf. I pulled it off of the shelf last week for a new project, powered it up, cleaned up the hard drive and started defrag. When I returned several hours later it was black, cold and lifeless. It would not power up. I took it back and found E-Tech in the middle of some growing pains. The rest of this story has not been written yet - their response was very positive about making things right. My next review will give the details.

"This company is horrible to deal with. They sent em a used laptop battery that has cosmetic blemishes. I put it into my laptop and could see how many charge cycles it had been through. I asked for a NEW battery to be sent and that they pay for the return of this battery. They refuse. It's now with my credit card company, cause these jerks are worthless to deal with.

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE RIPOFF ARTISTS!!

"This is the worst purchase i have ever made in my life!! Bought a battery for my laptop which i needed badly for a conference i was attending in a few days. They sent me a scratch up broken, non working battery. Now i know why their shipping is so fast, they are in a hurry to get rid of their non-working items. they have given me the run around and i am so angry. requested for RMA and complaint with someone in sales for a week regarding a shipping label- surprise! You get to pay for their mistake or bad product! customer service is a joke! I want my money back, i will fight for it back. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and my Bank! they need to get shut down! I really wished i read everyone's comments on this page before wasting my hard earn money on this joke of a business. So ANGRY!"

"I was sent the wrong hard drive from the one I ordered, when I contacted them about a return or exchange it took over a week to get a response. They wanted me to send the hardware back at my own expense which would not be re-imbursed, plus a 25% "restocking" fee. What's the point of even doing business at that point? I spent $40 for express shipping all for nothing. The item I ordered was removed from their website after I ordered it. So how are they going to send me another since they DO NOT have it? I would likely get another wrong item which I would have to ship back at my expense, pay another "restocking" fee... Plus they send a big disclaimer that if the item is no longer in stock it may take a long time to get new stock. No thanks, this company does not want to be accountable for its own screw-ups, in fact I think their business model is built around re-stocking fees.

"Warning! Do not do business with this company. I purchased a DVD Burner that was described as new. When I received the burner it was obviously used and was not functional. When I informed them of this, they tried to claim that the product was a 'new' addition to their website, and did not indicate the condition of the product. I emailed them a screen shot that described the condition as new, and then never heard back. They have refused to refund my money, and want me to pay for any return shipping costs. If you read the rest of the reviews or check with the BBB in San Jose you will find that this company is dishonest. I would assume any positive reviews you find were posted by company employees. Under no circumstances will you want to buy anything from E-Tech."

"I wish I had checked this info before buying from this place. I ordered a hard drive and when I received it and began to work with it I heard the ominous clicking sounds anyone who has worked with hard drives knows all too well. All attempts to have this drive recognized in any fashion failed. I mean, why ship a bogus hard drive? I know am going to send back, if I have any problems I will be contacting my credit card company for a refund which they will do. Would definitely not recommend this estore! The prices are too low really so that should have been a heads up."

"This store is absolutely bad news! Most of the other reviews echo this sentiment. I placed an order on 2/18 for an in stock DVD and, having not heard from them, called on 2/28. I was told they had a back log and it would ship the next day. I received it on 3/5 but was out of town until 3/14. I had it professionally installed on 3/18 and it didn't work. If they had shipped on time I would have had it installed before I went out of town.As it was, I was turned down for an RMA because I had exceeded the 10 day return request limit.I'll never order from this store again because they have no concept of customer service."

"STAY AWAY FROM THIS RETAILER!!!!! Shop at your own risk.

I buy lots of items online regularly. From now on I'm going to use this site to check the retailer first.

I ordered a replacement keyboard for a laptop. After installation I noticed several keys did not work. Followed website instructions for RMA. Even though it says they will send a replacement with shipping label (advanced replacement) and charge credit card in advance, this is not how the RMA worked. They required it to be shipped back first at my expense, and it had to be shipped out within 3 days or RMA was canceled. I travel and was not able to ship out in 3 days. Now I can't get another RMA. Tried calling 3 separate times. Each person basically said, "no one here can help you". I even shipped the keyboard back with receipt request, they wouldn't accept it, so now I am out another $10.65 for shipping.

So guess what, I called my credit card company and they have credited the amount. If E-tech wants their crappy product back they will need to submit an RMA request. Good luck! I don't think there is anyone here that can help you.
