Slow to process returns

"If you need to return an item, get rrady to wait for weeks and make several phone calls. 5 weeks later, I'm still calling them to see a credit on my account. Noy ordering from them any longer due to inconvenience."

Terrible systems

"I will never buy from Eddie Bauer again and recommend the buyer beware.

Once you order a package online the order is Final. As a result, you cannot cancel or change the order even if it is back-ordered for months. The customer service rep will tell you they will "request" a cancellation but it is a bogus effort as they will not provide a cancellation number or any other proof of the effort. In fact, they will tell you that the item will probably ship no matter what they do. What they don't inform you is that you will be responsible to pay return shipping charges. Hassle-free returns does not equal free returns!!

Hmmm

"I cannot say enough about the poor shipping that's free for gold members. Eddie Bauer is our go to store and I would like to feel like they reciprocate the loyalty. Fedex stinks in my area and I have alerted Eddie to that fact. Still no change in how items are shipped. Quite a shame as their clothing and shoes are great. Will be searching for another retailer that wants to earn my business"

Cancelled my order took my store credit

"They cancelled my online order which I used store credit for. I tried again and it says my store credit has been used. I have emailed about reimbursement and they have not given me a straight answer. They say if you order online it's not guaranteed as they don't ship from stores. As of right now I feel they have stolen from me.why would I order online if there's a chance it will be canceled. If companies can't keep up with the times they will go the way of sears. "

Eddie Bauer's Canada online payment process ****!

"I am on Eddie Bauer’s email list to receive notification on sales and I get an email advising that I have been given$10 towards the Adventure Rewards. I went online and placed an order for 2 items as they were having Boxing day 50% off Sale. I am at the payment process stage and I entered my credit card information then hit to continue. I receive a message highlighted in red that read ‘We are sorry but there are discrepancies that have occurred, please try again.’ I went back in and re-entered my credit card info thinking that I may have entered it incorrectly but the same message comes up again. I then tried re-entering my billing info thinking this may have been the problem but the same message pops up. I tried at least 6 times only to receive the same fricking message! In the meantime, I missed the deadline on the Boxing day sale due to this frustrating message that blocked me from finalizing my transaction. I read other people’s review about poor customer service so I opt not to pursue that avenue of trying to place an order by phone. Their Canadian online system is a joke and it must have a ‘Trump’ virus that prevents any Canadian sales to go thru which is Eddie Bauer’s lost. They will be the next to go under after Sears Canada became extinct."

Do not buy gifts - they do not provide gift receipts

"I bought 2 Christmas gifts online. The next day, the items went on sale at a higher discount than I had bought them at the previous day. I called customer service and requested a price adjustment, which they did. I also requested gift receipts. The lady on the phone said it would be mailed to me in a couple of days. After 2 weeks, I called again and I was assured they would be in the mail. Two more calls to customer service, and was reassured that it would be mailed to me. After call #5, I finally spoke to a manager, who told me they don't issue gift receipts! This was my first and last time I will ever shop at Eddie Bauer. "

Garbage logistics, website, and custom service

"Ordered a couple backpacks online. Then a couple days later those went out-of-stock and were cancelled from my order, even though at that moment they were still showing as available online. Took a couple days to receive the merchandise credit as I paid using gift card. Then I decided to call in to place the order again to make sure I buy the ones that are in stock. The person I talked to ensured me the colors I wanted were in-stock before placing the order for me. A couple days later, I saw the order in my online account so I took a look, guess what, the colors listed in the order are completely wrong for both backpacks. So I had to call in again, only to find that the colors I ordered were out-of-stock and somehow the system/person just changed them to some other in-stock colors. I had to cancel this order and find another time to place another new order. "

Replacement guarantee.

"I had a coat that was a gift to me about 10 years ago. I loved the coat, but the snaps on it has seen better days. I happened to be in an Eddie Bauer store and I was talking to the associate about how much I love the coat and showed her the snaps. She told me every item Eddie sells is guaranteed for life. Long story short, the replaced my coat with as close and comfortable to the coat I had. I didn't know they did this. I love their products they wear very well and are guaranteed. What more do I need to know?"

Don't bother ordering, nothing is actually in stock.

"Ordered 4 items online. One item shipped 7 days later, finally received 10 days after ordering. Other items were placed in varying sorts of holds- "item will be available after such-and-such a date" - etc. Over the next month the remaining three items were all cancelled by Eddie Bauer. Huge waste of time and inconvenience- will never order with them again. In the age of Amazon how do you think you can stay in business with such poor service and inventory management?"

Opportunities to improve

"Quality products and online shopping experience compares to similar retailers. However, the returns process is out-of-date. Especially if you are exchanging sizes and paid with PayPal. No communication about this. After waiting weeks I finally researched, saw the credit and called. Yep, it takes a phone call to exchange if you use PayPal. I suspect they lose sales through people just giving up. Also what happens when it's a gift? This also is 100% fixable through business process change. Specifically, you get the PayPal exchange request, you call or email the customer. "

Wrong shirt, three times in a row, but no shirt in the end, but a pain you know where.

" Ordered a shirt online, received visual email of said shirt being sent. Received a shirt but wrong one. (It was a mans!) Called EB, confirmed what shirt was wanted, was assured right shirt would be sent immediately. Returned first shirt with assurance shipping would not be charged. (We'll see)
Second shirt arrives, same wrong shirt (only this time it was a womens, kinda right). Called EB, was told something was wrong with their system. (No kidding). Was told to keep second shirt for inconvenience caused, was offered a twenty dollar gift card, would also be credited for the original shirt price. The guys actual words were "So you'll get two free shirts and a gift card" (I was really impressed, I mean this really doesn't happen in real life, right?) and, again, was told the correct shirt would be sent.
I did not ask for anything nor was I rude, the guy was nice about it, all I wanted was that one
shirt! Third shirt arrives, same wrong shirt. My husband is on the floor laughing uncontrollably.
I call EB and the women says she has no record of my conversation with representative
number two. (Which is not true because they tell you you're being recorded) By now the shirt is nowhere to be had. The compensation offered me by their representative was all false.
My feelings were hurt, I'd been had and my husband knew all about it! I'll never live it down.
I thought I might be able to find the shirt on clearance in one of their stores. I was told by two
stores, when I called, that they had the same shirt and I would be able to exchange it. I drove 25+ miles to find out that it was a bait and switch. They had this years shirt that I would have to purchase at thirty more dollars that I paid for the original shirt. They insisted they told me that fact, I pointed out I would not have driven that far to buy a different shirt.
I gave up at this point and returned my last unwanted shirt.
I have three charges on my account from EB for shirts I didn't order and have now returned. Only one has been credited for a refund. I'm not done with them yet. So beware if you purchase anything from them and don't believe anything they tell you.
This has been very cathartic for me I must say. I do love EB clothing and all their stuff, I'm
just bummed I didn't get that mixed flannel shirt (or gift card) I so wanted.

Terrible Customer service

"Come on Eddie Bauer with so many businesses loosing customers to Amazon.
Eddie bauer rep would not honor 2 day old discount for internet issues.
do not understand in this day and age of internet sales they choose to be
so rude and abrupt with their customers. There ratings are horrible
and still they hold firm to not doing the right thing.

I'm returning my entire order just to make a point

GET IT TOGETHER EDDIE BAUER I will shop elsewhere for the holidays ... I guess you do not need the sales!

In today's online market are they really this slow still? It isn't the 1990s anymore!

"Placed order and received email the order was received.
Two days later get another email that now the order is confirmed.
Three more days before I get notification it shipped, so five days to ship an order of three pairs of pants.
Get order and find they are all too long for me so sent them back the next day for new sizes.
Two weeks after the email that items have shipped I get the email saying they received the returns, so the returns likely sat there for a few days before being "received".
Two weeks more go by without anything so I live chat to say it has been two weeks, where's my stuff?
Response: "returns take 14-21 days to process". Are you f'in kidding me. So it has been over a month since the initial order and still no product. Guess we know why Amazon is doing so well and places like Eddie Bauer are going to be out of business soon.
