"I have recently placed three orders from Essential Computer. Their web site is nicely laid out, has detailed information on their products, and is easy to use. The firm has a great diversity in their product line. Their promptness in shipping goods is commendable - they lost little time in processing the order once submitted. Their prices are quite reasonable - in fact for the Lian-Li PC70 case and the Abit BD7-RAID motherboard their prices were excellent from the shopper's perspective. The price on the Western Digital 120 GB IDE hard drive with 8 MB of cache is most reasonable. Hopefully, they will add some of the excellent Adobe products to their software line, including - Acrobat, PhotoShop, Page Maker, Illustrator, Premiere, and FrameMaker 7 which is soon to be released. Adobe's merging of the run-of-the-mill FrameMaker 6 with the expensive SGML package and dropping the price by about $700 now makes it an attractive package for desktop publishing. Adobe's MSRP price for FrameMaker 7 is $799. The high-end powerful package for desk top publishing is now within the reach of those "Home-Do-It-Yourself" publishers. It is to be released sometime in May of 2002. With the great increase in performance of PCs - bigger hard drives - some PC users are interested in having a multiple operating system - Windows 2000/XP and LINUX. Adding System Commander [current version is 7] will help significantly those interested in loading multiple operating systems. Many research university undergraduate and graduate students make great use of LINUX for performing scientific computations - great scalability, great speed, and essentially crash-free performance for caculations going on for days, weeks, etc. LINUX lends itself to clustering configurations for parallel processing which is where the university graduate research activity has been for the past decade. At Los Alamos, the Center for Non-Linear Studies initially clustered together [Avalon] 60 some cpus running under LINUX doing computations that went on for more than six months without a single crash - LINUX is indeed a stable operating system for scientific computations. So adding some LINUX software might be a reasonable thing to do - LINUX software is cheap and marketable to the academic community. The growth of LINUX-based servers has grown considerably in the past few years. With the growing interest in video capture, perhaps Essential Computer will add some of the Canopus products - DVRaptor-RT digital capture card, and the external ADVC-100 converter both of which have received excellent reviews in Europe [See Tom's Hardware Guide at www.tomshardware.com on the card. Canopus has an attractive tutorial package for those really serious about learning Adobe Premiere - a six disk package for $249; although the price might seem high to some, the Adobe Premiere package has a rather steep learning page. Adding the Minolta Dimage 7 digital camera ought to be considered. The current issue of the outstanding British digital camera magazine highy recommended it for both price and performance for the experienced photographer. The Dimage 7 has a spectacular lens and many fine features, giving a 5 MP camera. A&M Photo World at www.amphotoworld.com advertizes the Dimage 7 at $579.99 in the current issue of ShutterBug - some retail chain stores have a price that ranges from $1,000 to $1,300. It truly is an excellent buy at under $600. Returning now to buying from Essential Computer, I expect to deal with them in the future. I was surprised that they did not carry the MacPower Digital Doc 5 unit for monitoring temperatures [eight sensors] and controling fans in a PC - the Canadian, German, Australian , and USA reviews on the Digital Doc 5 unit all indicated that the unit was superb, useful, and applicable for monitoring important parameters in high performance PCs. I just purchased one from eXtreme PC Gear in California for under $50. Essential Computer should be encouraged to add more components/accessories for the Lian-Li case line; such as - packets of extra actual "Lian-Li" thumb screws, extra parts kit, carrying straps/harness of synthetic fabric with handle for lifting and moving the big Lian-Li cases. For the shopper who wants a good aluminum case at a rather low price, the SkyHawk line is a good option - although their cases are not as well made as the Lian-Li and Cooler Master cases. My suggestions are concern some of the new directions taking place in the PC area with the growing interest in still and dynamic images. Home users are getting more and more interested in video capture, home movies, and digital photography. My suggestions are to help Essential Computer to expand their line somewhat and appeal to a greater number of customers who truly are interested in higher performance systems. My comments are positive and well-intentioned - I hope they are helpful to everyone concerned. All the best - Nevin Greninger "
"Outstanding. Ordered my Leadtek GeForce4 4400 on a Friday, around 4pm EST and there was a working tracking number in my inbox 2.5 hours later. The following Monday I checked on the status of the order (supposedly shipped 2nd day FedEx) and was shocked to see it listed as on the truck for delivery. Around 3pm that Monday it was my hands and 15 minutes later it was in my machine. Towards the lower end of the prices I found on Pricewatch for both the card itself and the shipping. Will absolutely shop here again."
"I Order a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS6380E KT333 Mother Board at 2:30 pm ET and it was shiped UPS ground zone 1 and was at my door the next day. "
"Outstanding. Good site, excellent prices. Bought Asus a7v333 mobo. Best price on the net. Email queries replied to in less than an hour. Shipped within 2(!)hours of ordering. Two day air for $12, you just can't beat that."
"Blazing service. Submitted order via e-mail at 4:30 PM and order wsa shipped same day at 6:30. Called with specific questions about part and someone actually went into the warehouse to pull part and answer questions, either beautiful service or they faked me out so well I didn;t even know it. Either way, I will use them again.
Shipped two day air for $12.00!!"
"Very fast shipping. I ordered a Lian Li PC60 USB case on April 4, on the next day it was on my door step even though I only pay for UPS ground shipping. They're locate in NY and i'm in NJ.
Shipping is unreasonable. It's $18 to ship to NJ with UPS ground, If i add a Hard Drive, a DDR memory stick and a CPU. It quickly skyrocketed to around $45. I don't think the CPU, Hard Drive, and RAM is half the weight of the case."
"I bought a motherboard and a stick of ram from this company and I thought the price was great. Items shipped using 2day Fedex Express and it came within 1 and a half days. However the price for shipping was a little unreasonable. They charged me an extra $5 for shipping the little piece of ram which only weighs a few ounces that they stuck inside of the motherboard box."
"I purchased a motherboard and CPU at a very good price. The order was placed on a Thursday evening and the order was filled and sent the following day. The parts were delivered on Monday.
Order confirmation and shipping information was sent out quickly. I am very pleased with the rapid service I recieved and would buy from them again."
"This online company is fabulous. Ordered Win2K software and received in 3 days from time of order. They sent immediate e-mail, and later that day sent tracking info. I got 2nd day delivery from FedEx, and all went very smoothly. They are not the lowest price e-tailer, but their service proves their worthiness."
"Ordered a Pioneer 106S on Sunday (3/24). They shipped on Monday (3/25) and even provided a tracking number (unlike the other shady sellers out there.) Since I reside in a state next to them (NJ), I got it the next day (Tuesday). Decent packaging, drive works fine.
Bottomline: smooth transaction and great company. I almost bought from another company (even further from where I am and had worst ratings on ressellerratings.com), but for a dollar more I chose this one. I would do business with them and would recommend this comp. to others."
"EXCELLENT COMPANY!
This is my second purchase from Essential, and the second time they've left me absolutely delighted.
I ordered on Tuesday around 5:00, and they shipped less than three hours later. AND, they shipped FedEx second day for $12! Other companies will charge more for lame UPS Ground.
They have totally won a customer for life!"
"This is the fourth time I have purchased hardware from this business. All I have is good things to say about them. Fast processing of the order, fast shipping via FedEx 2 day delivery, the e-mail responses are very quick and courteous, competitive prices, no sales tax (which is a plus) and I especially like the web site. It is very easy to get around and find what I need. I have ordered 2 motherboards and 2 sticks of DDR RAM from them and everything worked flawlessly. I recommend this reseller. Newegg.com has a major competitor with Essential. (No I don't work for Essential, just a satisfied customer). You don't find a computer business like this very often."
"I have purchased tons of stuff from these guys. Shipping is always FAST! I've never had a problem with them, and their RMA dept. works very fast as well. Grade A!"
