"I am very surprised to see so many people with issues with fabric.com. I thought perhaps I had simply had bad luck. I have an issue with nearly every order I place. With one order, I wanted 2 yards of fabric (one continuous piece) and I had to have it in two sections. Another order arrived with mud on it, stuffed in a little mailer so it was also horribly wrinkled. I tried ordering a knit fabric twice, but was sent the quilting cotton version both times. It's true, they did let me keep the incorrect fabric--but it wasn't what I wanted, and a non-stretch fabric was completely inappropriate for the use I had planned. They never changed the description on the web site, so presumably many others received this incorrect fabric as well. If I order three items, odds are good that one will be sold out by the time the order is filled. Shipping takes forever (and I live less than 15 miles from their location), and customer service always seems a little testy (perhaps because of the volume of complaints that they handle). There are lots of other good fabric stores online, so I plan to eliminate fabric.com from my list. They were very good before Amazon took over, although Amazon is fabulous and I have ZERO complaints with them. The photos on fabric.com are also frequently inaccurate, with reds and purples rarely matching the color of the fabric you receive. The knits they sell are inexpensive, true, but they are often so sheer (even those described as "medium weight") and you have to buy twice as much just to get one good layer of fabric. I wrote a negative review on their site about my last two purchases (muddy fabric and the fabric with the incorrect description on their site) which they told me did not fit their guidelines. One of the items on their list of inappropriate content is anything they deem "spiteful". I pointed out their poor order fulfillment practices in the review, which was probably off-topic and "spiteful." Just be aware that you're not going to see many negative reviews on their site for this reason.

I noticed the other day that the unused stack of fabric in my sewing room is all from fabric.com. Perhaps fabric is meant to be more expensive.

Just google "online fabric stores" and you'll find a bunch of better alternatives.

"I've used fabric.com for years. Really, pages and pages of orders. Recently, their service has gone down to the point that I will no longer be using them. They claim that fabric that is listed for $9/yard, with over 300 yards is no longer available. But then, you go onto the website, and the same fabric is listed at a higher price ($10.50/yard) and there are 300 yards available still. I call customer service and they can't say why they won't ship the fabric. But they'd be happy to place an order for the more expensive fabric (which is the EXACT same fabric I ordered) at the higher price. Um...sure you would. They've lost my business. "

"Order placed June 3. Credit card charged June 3rd. Contact June 8 customer service to alter the order by taking one swatch out. Refused when none of the items have not yet shipped. Funny how after the refusal of service I get a shipping notice on the same day. I track UPS delivery scheduled for delivery on June 11. An interior designer friend and I await for delivery all afternoon to examine the swatches and determine which to use for drapery. No delivery but shows delivered. Email customer service to this fact on June 12th. Customer service email claims they're tracing the package. June 14th I request for credit. June 27th, I write another email requesting for credit. Finally get a response email July 1 saying they are trying to get the order together to send out to me. It's well over a month and I do not have items I've paid for. Doesn't this seem like some sort of scam? "

"Very unhappy with this company. They state there is over 100 yards available when you order yet they cancel your order because they do not have enough yards. First time I ordered 5 yards, website said they had a lot more than that. They attempted to contact me through email and never responded when I emailed back. They shipped me half of the yards I wanted and refunded the rest. I need it to be one continuous piece so that is not helpful at all. Keep in mind it took many weeks to even get to that point. Tried again ordering 5 yards of a different fabric and just now found out they are not going to send it (2 weeks later). Stated they will refund my money. Same reason as before...it was out of stock. I made sure to select a fabric that had over 100 yards available to avoid this issue. This is ridiculous! I wish I would have looked up their ratings before I ordered from them in the first place. Now my project I am making for my best friend's baby is was late (she was born a week ago). Done with Fabric.com forever."

"PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM! I have placed many orders, and in the beginning, they were great. With each following order, the fill rate went from average 95% to 10%. My last order 6/15/15 for 7 items (some which showed 50+ yards in stock), took 10 days to process (they were "very busy") and only 2 items were actually available. I know their sales and coupons can be tempting, but it's not worth it. You will be totally disappointed, just read all the reviews here and at other sites."

"I thought they were a nice store until I started to order more I started to make tie blankets I am only on my 3 blanket now. But I had tried to order a back for one of the front pieces that I had ordered from them in the past. Now more then once they seam to be out of stock of the fleece I wanted even though at the time of my order they did have it in stock each time. Now I am fed up with Fabric.com I prefer to go to another company. I am tired of them. Me placing orders when they have stuff then about a week later they are telling me they are out of stock on it. I am telling people unless you like dealing with company's like this shop some where else. Find another company to go too. They expect you to buy $35.00 worth of fabric / items to get free shipping I have never seen any coupons from them for free shipping yet to even get a coupon that I would have liked to use. "

"Absolute terrible company NOW! Back before Amazon bought this company, they were a phenomenal business! Orders take forever to ship, their inventory is clearly off and tgeir facebook page has enough complaints as well as this site, to show they're falling to the wayside. I guess I'll be shopping at other fabric store & staying clear of fabric.com from now on! Way to go Amazon for ruining a company that prior to your ownership, had a phenomenal name! "

"I have been trying for 3 weeks to purchase 17 yards of fabric. Three patterns I have selected were either out of stock or in pieces even though the web site had them listed as having 19 yards for my first selection, the next one had 42 yards available (out of stock) then this last one listed online with 55 yards - they had 10 yards in pieces. Don't waste your time. The last one is still on the website with 34 yards."

"Fabric.com has lost its edge above other online fabric competitors. Their shipping turnaround has gone from bad to worst. I placed my order on Tues, June 2nd. On Saturday, 5 days later, I called customer service. The rep was extremely unhelpful. She could not even assure it would ship Monday. She expressed frustration with me when I counted a business day as the day I ordered. She advised me with an attitude that it had only been 3 business days since Wednesday...don't count the day you order & don't count the day they ship (next Monday). ..but then again there was no assurance they would ship on Monday. There was absolutely no apology or expressed friendliness. She could not even check to see if all items were in stock. I stated that she really offered no customer service assistance above & beyond what I saw in the order confirmation on the day I ordered.
Fabric.com was an excellent resource when I started using them a few years ago. You could order as little as 1/2 yard priced at 1/2 the cost of 1 yard. Now that has changed, too. Their service was true to what they promised. If you ordered fabric, it would truly ship 2 or 3 days later. Prices are not as competitive. If you attempt to express your disappointment with customer service, they are very non-supportive, in fact they are downright nasty to deal with. Very disappointed

"Fantastic. I ordered 3 items and it was here within 1 week. The fabrics were terrific, and cheaper than at our quilt stores. I called and talked to customer service about 1 of the fabrics and she said all I had to do if I didn't want/like it was call and they would pay for me to return it.
I was impressed and love the fabric, as will my grandbabies.

"Horrible. They did not fill the entire order but were certain to charge me shipping for the entire order. They never ordered replacement fabric for an out-of-stock item when they said they would. The customer service is horrible and they refuse to take care of the problem over the phone. I do not recommend doing business with this company."

"This was one of the worst on-line shopping experiences for me. Even when their site states fabric is "in stock" it isn't and you can pay them for an order and wait and wait for Fabric .com to bother to contact you telling you the fabric is no available.
Just a poorly run site and one I will not recommend to anyone.

"Avoid this site. They say they have the items in stock. They take a week to say they are short items. They ask if you want a subsitute. you Subsitute a item and they get that wrong so now the order is completely messed up. You spend hours to days on the phone trying to resolve the situation. waste of time and money. "

"STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY!!!! Tonight I have had enough of this company. I brought over $200.00 of fabrics on 03/30/15, and called right after to have my fabric expedited. They said I would receive a phone Wednesday about the shipping costs at that point, well that day came and went. 04/02/2015 I wrote to customer service on their online chat, I was told it will ship today and they will call me with my shipping options, about 15 minutes later I got an email offering me next day air at the company's cost because of the mix up. I thought that was awesome and wrote an email back thanking them. 3 hours later I got another email stating my order was on hold because they ran out of a fabric I order. I called immediately and told them I do not want a replacement fabric and to take it off my order. Was told again that they would refund me and next day air it that night if possible or Friday morning but either way I would get an email letting me know. Thursday night came and went and no email. Friday morning I checked my order and it said my order was still on hold so once again I called and asked what the problem was this time, the lady I spoke to this time was very rude and when I asked for a manger I was told she could not get through to her (of course). I was yet again promised that my order will be shipped by 4pm tonight so that I could still have it by Monday (which defeats the purpose of next day air), well it's now 10:40pm and still no shipping email and when I looked it said my order was still on hold. What heck, so for now I will never recommend this site again or use it. Hopefully I will receive my package Monday, but I doubt it which leaves me in a very bad spot with a client (photography), and still no refund for the fabric they no longer had, which is funny because it clearly states PayPal funds will not be removed until shipped but yet the whole amount came out of my account Wednesday :0( update: I had to call 3 more times, it finally shipped after the third call but it was not next day air like they promised they shipped it ground. I was offered 75% refund on order and that was last week, still haven't received it so I called again today they said they would process it today and the manger would call me back in an hour well it's been over an hour and still nothing."
