"I would caution anyone who considers selling a used computer to Gainsaver. I entered the information as best I could using a very limited selection from the Gainsaver website, got a quote, and shipped the computer. On receiving mu computer Gainsaver claimed, without explanation, that I had misrepresented the equipment and drastically reduced the offer. They responded to my query by telling me that the computer was a 20 inch, not a 17 inch, and the case was cracked. It was in perfect condition when shipped. Since the company does not take phone calls and offers no help in how to provide the requested data, the seller has no recourse once the computer is shipped. This is a process that places Gainsaver in complete control of the process and in deciding how much to pay after the fact. I am very disappointed in their operation."
"I received my Apple TV shortly after ordering it and it does work just fine. It was said to include an Apple remote which it did, just not the one that normally comes with the 2nd generation Apple TV. Overall, I can't complain. I saved over $25 off the normal price. Thanks."

I've ordered MacPro's and Laptops with total satisfaction. If I would have know the credit would not be issued, I would have purchased the computer directly from Apple (I have purchased more than a dozen Mac's direct from Apple, and that is how I will probably buy my machines in the future."

" I have not been happy at all with my GainSaver purchase. I bought a refurbished G5 tower in October of last year and it never worked right. At first, I thought the problem was just something with the wi-fi connection but as I tried to resolve that I kept running into more and more problems. After a couple of months the computer barely worked at all. This was, unfortunately, after the basic warranty from GainSaver had expired (I didn't purchase the extended warranty which apparently was a huge mistake).
I talked to the computer fix it guy at work and he said to reinstall a new operating system and if that didn't fix the problem it meant the hard drive was bad. Well, I attempted to install a new operating system and the computer now won't start at all..this was all in the course of about three months.
As I haven't had money or time to deal with this issue since, the computer is still sitting broken in a corner. I plugged in my 10 year old G4 which still works (better than that refurbed POS at least).
All in all, the computer worked great for a week or two and it was all down hill from there. I suppose I should have got the extended warranty but I have never had a problem like this with an Apple product before. As I mentioned, it even had problems during the initial warranty period but by the time I realized they stemmed from a more serious issue it was too late.
As the situation stands now, I would NEVER use GainSaver again or recommend it to anyone else (save, perhaps, for some enemy whom I wished ill fortune...even then, maybe not)."

The added cost of keeping working systems plus a family of six who also use computers had been breaking me financially.
