"I am extremely upset. I found out about GameFly from a mobile app and decided to check it out. They claimed that if I signed up I will recieve 1 month of free membership. After signing up, I was IMMEDIATELY charged this month's membership WITHOUT EVEN GIVING ME A MONTH OF FREE MEMBERSHIP. They are such a dishonest money-hungry company. I DO NO RECOMMEND AT ALL. It is ridiculous. If you cancel, they won't even give you a refund and won't let you use the rest of your service. HORRENDOUS. STAY AWAY."
"I am a new GameFly customer (bout a week and a half) and they are off to a HORRIBLE start. I ended up getting a 2 month subscription(1 month was free) with 2 games. First of all the reason I tried gamefly was because it was tough to get the new games from redbox and i figured even as a low user it would still be cheaper to go the gamefly route. Well that plan failed because the new games are even harder to get on GF(atleast on RB if I really wanted it I could drive 20 mins to a RB that has it in. OK so it says games come in 2-4 business days. The third day skyrim comes(was my 5th choice) and it has these gouges all along the edge, figured it was a shipping thing, game played but made a crazy noice the whole time(skyrim is kind of an old game so im sure its been through a lot). On the 5th day my other game (AC revelations)(6th choice) still hadnt arrived so i called (btw their phone customer service is only 2-6 EST so I had to talk online to someone on live support(which is from like 10-6EST)So they tell me its weird that it hasnt came because skyrim was sent from FL(I live in MASS)and AC was shipped from pitts PA(and shipped earlier in the day then skyrim)But they told me I couldnt report a shipping prob till day 7(which is weird cause it says shipping is 2-4 days(and it doesnt say on average it just says 2-4 days)so if thats the case it should say 2-7 days. ANYWAYS, so he says to call back on day 7 and that he was gonna start the process on sending me my next game since skyrim was damaged(which I appricated cause the whole reason I got the 2 game plan was so I had a game while I sent the other back)Well surprisingly business day 7 the other game comes. Was happy, figured maybe there arent as many problems as I thought. So skyrim gets sent back and 3 days later the other game arrives(AC Brotherhood) I finally open it up 2 days later(after I got sick of the other one) and there was NO GAME!! the cardboard thing was in there but no sleeve and no game. Im not sure if im just off to an unlucky start but so far, I didnt get any of the games I really wanted. The first game that came was damaged, the second was late, and the third wasnt in the envelope!! To be honest I was most likely not going to renew my membership anyway, but as of now I wouldnt recommend GF to anyone(that I liked anyway)hopefully they turn it around the rest of my membership but thats my experience so far, good luck"
"I had been a member of gamefly for several years, In good standing, and had been overall fairly happy, other than the length of time games take to receive.
That all changed fairly recently. I had a month or two ago purchased a copy of Skyrim for Xbox 360. They shipped me the box for it and all other applicable items.
Then a week or two ago, when I had two games from them, Prototype and Tom Clancy's Future Soldier both for 360, I shipped them back in order to receive new games.
Unfortunately I had accidentally put in my copy of Skyrim in the sleeve for Future Soldier. At this point gamefly "assumed" that I must have wanted to return to them the game that I had purchased, and still had the box and everything else for. So they processed the game back into their system, and I recieved an email telling me I got a whole 5 dollar refund (because of the THIRTY FIVE DOLLAR restocking fee).
Why would they take the massive leap and assume that I would return my game that I purchased just 2 months before, without any of the boxes, and be satisfied with getting 1/6th or less than what I paid for it back? Nevertheless, they did.
I sent a couple of emails to their support, and got back responses saying basically that the game was now theirs again, and if I wanted I could buy it again. I called the company, and they said that they had sent out the game to other members, and could not ship me another copy. They did then give me a full refund, which I will use to buy the game elsewhere if I want it again.
I still feel like they basically stole the game from me, and refused to give it back. I am curious what happens if someone were to send a game that they bought elsewhere to gamefly on accident, would they keep that as well?
At this point even with the refund, I am considering legal action, as well as cancelling my account.
Very unhappy, I feel like I was stolen from by Gamefly. It was my mistake to send it, the first time I've done that in over 4 years of being a customer, but the lack of any system to confirm if I meant to send the game back for a refund, and the simply processing of it without my consent, combined with the unwillingness to simply send me a replacement copy, makes me want to cry from the hilltops for people to stay away from this company."
"STAY AWAY! This company must be a scam house. I bought a game for digital download and found out after they had my credit card info that YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD your digital download game. Its required that they hassle you on the phone before you can download your game. So if you buy the game at night, then you have to wait until the next business day to call them and see if they give you permission to download your game. WTF do they even have a website? Digital download is a scam, stay away from them."
"I would not recommend buying from GameFly, they are shady and IMHO totally dishonest. When they bought out Direct2Drive, they inherited my account. In my account I had a store credit for about $5 and they simply cancelled it. I contacted customer service and nicely pointed out that they had failed to transfer my store credit along with my D2D account. The customer service reps were rude and dismissive.
Due to this dishonest, unethical, and dismissive behavior, I would NOT recommend purchasing from GameFly, as there are plenty of other (more ethical) software outlets."
"This review is based on purchasing used games from their website. I DO NOT have any experiences with their game rental services.
Purchased about 5 used games in my lifetime. Last one I purchased never came. I got a strange email from them about 2 weeks after I placed the order saying that the game was "Received". (As if I mailed them a game to sell). Emailed them twice to find out what was going on. Never received a response. THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER TO BE FOUND ON THEIR WEBSITE!!! Had to google their number. After speak to rep on phone, she said it was damaged (probably in transit) and was sent back to gamefly. Credit currently being issued to my account. The game's price increased and did not offer free shipping any more. Seems like this company does not believe in PR. Better hope your game arrives, because you get one shot at ordering."
"Well, that was too easy! Prior to buying from D2D I checked out the reviews to get an idea of what I could expect. A lot of these reviews are positive but what struck me as unusual is every negative review I read had a response from D2D showing their customer service is trying to resolve any issues fairly and equitably!!
My download went very well, no issues with a 570 MB download, speed started out at 1.2MB/sec and settled down to about 900 k/sec, the entire download took about 12 minutes. After downloading the download manager presented with a button to open the folder where the file was saved so I didn't have to search through my hard drive looking for the setup file.
The installation went smoothly, no problem with the activation using the activation code supplied by D2D, game's up and running - no problem at all.
All in all, I will be returning to D2D for other downloads as the whole process was painless, pricing is competitive, and I get the download and enjoy my purchase immediately without leaving the house."
"I like Gamefly. Like it quite a bit. Their service is slow, but you get what you paid for. I have a ps3 and I use gamefly for it and it's a great deal."
