"EDIT: 2/5/04 Update

Received call from Lawrence@GameVE. It seems GameVE and BFG is aware of possible problems from this card. I was told BFG is sending special small shipment to GameVE to take care of people having problems with this card. So if you have problem with this card, contact GameVE first as they might be able to help you resolve this. I do appreciate the call the company and their attempt to resolve this in satisfactory manner to both parties. I'll continue to update to let you know how it all turns out.

Original:

Ordered and received BFG FX5900. Box came poorly packaged with no padding material. The box was shrinkwrapped so it looked like new but the card was missing plastic cover over the heatsink which I'm told all new cards have. So obviously GameVE is reshrinkwrapping returned cards and selling it as "New." Well, the card was defective and didn't work. Surprise, surprise. After check many forums I find I'm not alone. Seems like pretty much everyone received defective BFG FX5900 from GameVE. Considering GameVE charges crappy exchange fee for swapping defective card and with almost 100% chance I would get another defective card from them and have to pay more fees and shipping, I decided to RMA straight to BFG. This was my first and last order from GameVE. Avoid this shady company at all cost!

"Purchased a BFG GF FX 5900 card. Item came poorly packed, just a cheap t-shirt as the only padding in a FedEx box. The retail vid card box was not shrink wrapped, leading me to believe that they sent me a used product instead of a new one like I purchased. The manuf date on the card is over a year ago. Will not purchase from them again."

"Update: My review below is a little harsh but most still stands. I was called by the General Manager Lawrence and he spent some time trying to make the situation better. It is a case by case basis but he was willing to work on the return without restocking fee since they could not provide a replacement card. I have since changed some of my ratings since

I did appreciate the call back and willingness to make it right.
I still feel they need to work on their phone and net CS. He said that it was unfortunate that when I tried to call no one picked up the phone and promised they were working on it.

If I did not post I might not have had a call back.
I may consider using them again but am cautious and will wait until I get this FX5900 issue corrected.

Original post

Warning-several BFG cards that were sent out were defective. They will sell you bad product and expect you to pay for the return and a restocking fee. They will say the policy is on their website so tough luck.
I tried contacting them all day and they would not pick up the phone yet will answer emails.
This company is not to be trusted.

Ordered a BFG FX5900 card retail package. Came in a timely manner but shipped in fed x box with no packing.

Card is not working. Tried all the fixes first and made sure everything was up to date.
Called BFG and when they heard WHO was sold me the card they said
"Oh them...yeah we have gotten a few complaints about the cards coming from that company. You probably have bad ram chips and need to return the card to them. It has something to do with how they are shipping them or they are reselling the bad cards." I can not say if this is true. My card came sealed. Unfortunately it could be bad quality control on the card.I guess BFG can not check bad cards and maybe GameVE just is getting the brunt of it.


I called them and they are now out of stock and not sure if they get anymore in.
Reading some posts about the XFX 5900 on this rating site, they sent me the same email and even left in the XFX part. I commented on that and they said they made a mistake.
They said it was thier policy even when it the product was bad.
This is worst thing they could do for customer service.

Do not buy from them- free t-shirt or lower price since you will pay more to send the item back in the end.

"great price shiped on time but card was defective so now rmaing to BFG gameve called me when they say this review with out me complaing to them. as defective cards do happen in fact i just got a bad motherboard from newegg Game ve even offer to pay for a hot swap which is very impressive and I order a set of 1 meg set of gell memory from them for 220 the best price online in fact the only reason i did not order a new motherboard from them was the board was 11 dollors more and as a masters student with no fincal aid I watch every penny "

"Terrible experience. Immediately when I opened the shipping box, I saw that the graphics card box had previously been opened. I installed it on my machine and had blue lines running vertically at bootup. Once running, the device had a "device cannot be started (code 10)" error. I contacted BFG tech support and after several hours on the phone with them, we concluded that it was a defective card. The fact that the box had previously been opened leads me to believe that this is a defective card that was returned and gameve.com just shipped it out again.
When I contacted gameve tech support through their phone #, the people that answered did a very poor job of hiding the fact that they did not want to talk to me. They informed me to go to the website and fill out the RMA form there, as they could not do an RMA over the phone.
I filled out the website RMA form, and they got back to me (via email) saying they could not fulfill this because they are on backorder for the item, and told me to RMA with the manufacturer.
In the meantime, gameve.com raised the price for this product on their website by several dollars. Guess that is to cover their "free shipping."
Luckily BFG gave me an RMA # right away. This is the last time I will ever purchase from gameve.com.

"Ordered a XFX GeForce FX 5900 Videocard.

The beginning transaction was good, ordered it one day, got it the next morning, couldn't ask for better service there.. but the product had a short life and started artifacting up and locking up at random.

So I RMA'd the card back.. it took them 7 days to update the page saying they have received it, [they're only 33 miles away from me, so the slowest possible snail mail should've only taken 1 day to get there].

So they said they're out of stock. well of course they are, XFX no longer makes the 5900's.. They only make the 5900XT's and i've been waiting for 28 days now for a replacement device.. and still nothing to show for it.. they're incredibly pathetic with customer service,

They wont refund my money, or swap devices without some kind of fee, 15% restocking, and 8% for a swap, which is incredibly stupid being as they're making money off of a device that will not work.

You can take your chances with them and pray your device comes working fine with no problems, but if it does, good luck getting a refund or anything.. i doubt you will.

Also, they better not ship me a stupid 5900XT in replacement of the 5900 and say its the same thing, i was upset enough to find out that XFX had secrelty phased out the 5900's and turned them into 5900SE's w/ 400/700 clocks opposed to 400/850..
