He spoke with me before even buying the laptop and answered my questions accurately and courteously. He still answers any questions that I may have though its been months after I purchased my laptop. "After comparing prices on the Asus G1S-A1 laptop at several sites (including Newegg), I ordered an Asus laptop on Sunday night, and Monday morning Ken called me to confirm the order and verify my CVV number.
When Ken called he told me it would ship today, and probably arrive Thursday, and told me that an e-mail would be sent out once it was shipped. When I hadn't received an e-mail by 4:30 today I called to make sure it was still shipping out, and was assured that the e-mails are sent out in batches at the end of the day; sure enough, around 6:30 or so I got the e-mail. The lady who answered the phone today wasn't as nice as Ken, but she was still polite and helpful, so I'm happy :)
According to their e-mail and UPS tracking, it shipped out today and will arrive Thursday (I live in California just a few hours north of them, so "three day" shipping sometimes takes less).
Once I get the laptop, I'll update the review to cover the packing and item condition, as well as any customer service issues that may arise. If there aren't any issues, I'll say so, and that will be that!

Received my laptop as expected, and have been having a blast with it since! Packaging was very sturdy, and the laptop arrived in flawless condition.
I have a few minor beefs with the product itself, but that's not GenTech's fault, and they're not serious enough to make me regret my purchase at all :)"

"So it has been over two years since I bought my Asus M6BNe Notebook from gentech and I had been extremely content with it, until one day recently, damn, it shuts itself down. There is some kind of problem powering it back up and I am obviously pretty upset about it. What is even more upsetting is that it was just over the two-year warranty on the machine, so fixing it was now my problem. I took it to a small shop to have a free assessment done and was told something about a bad cooling problem and a possible short on the m/b relating to the fan not working, thereby making the machine overheat and shut itself down. I ordered a new fan and installed it myself hoping that might help (longshot) and still had the same problem. At this point, I decided to email Gentech hoping they might be able to fix it for me even if I had to pay for it since Asus brand notebooks use very specific parts. I received a response asking what my partucular problem was from one of the serice reps (his name was Ken and I have seen him all over posts on this board with much admiration toward his helping people). We talked over what the issues were and he seemed to think it may just be a RAM problem. I have two ram slots and two modules taking them up and so after trying the use of only one and not the other, I found my machine booted up just fine. I am in great debt to Ken and plan to not only do future business with him, but send whatever other business I can his way. Thanks again for your help Ken.

"I purchaed a Asus S96J from Ken @ GentechPC back in July. After reading many reviews I knew this was the laptop for me. Ken called me the next day after my online order and verified everything that I choose for my notebook. Due to supply problems at the time I order it back in July it took longer then I thought it would to recieve it. Ken kept in constant contact and updated me at all times. Ken also has provided valuable tech support once I received the laptop. I highly recomend Gentech PC for all your computer needs. I have no problem recomending them to anybody that asks.

"I have purchased for a friend the popular Asus S96J laptop from Gentech.com at about 4:35pm today. As I have read from other reviews about this store, Ken is very friendly. About 20 minutes after the purchase, he rapidly called my friend to confirm the order and he then called me to also confirm the e-mail address I had typed in the order form, which was wrong. Anyways, we'll see how it goes, but let me tell you people, it is starting on the right foot.
I will update this review whenever my friend gets his laptop, and perhaps will update it one more time a few weeks after he receives it.

UPDATE (January 10, 2007):
This took longer than expected. The reason for that is because my friend lives in Montreal (Canada) and Gentech do not accept credit cards from other countries (just in US). It's because of their systems according to Ken. So we sent a money order, and it took a few more weeks! A little dissapointing but nothing seriously bad.
My friend finally received his laptop about 2 weeks ago, but I was still in vacation so I did not have time to update this review back then. I will test the laptop this Saturday, and I will write a final update next week. SO FAR SO GOOD!

FINAL UPDATE (January 29th 2007)
Finally, about two more weeks later I got to test my friend's computer. I just never had time to go over his house. The Asus S96J is just awsome with the new Core 2 Duo, 1 GB /667mhz Kingston RAM, 80GB Hitachi Travelstar/7200rpm etc. I give it 9.5/10! Why 9.5? Well, the things I did not like was the noise from the Hard Drive, although I understand its a 7200 RPM not a 5600RMP and its a FAst HD no doubt. I also did not like the squeeche keyboard since it doesnt feel very solid like my Toshiba Satellite A100. Also the built-in speakers arent that great. but everything else about it is just awesome and for the deal he got it from at GENTECH is just fantastic. I highly recommend the Asus S96J!!"

"Bought an Asus S96J notebook with the Merom processor from Ken at GenTech PC. He was very friendly and helpful over the phone, answered all of my questions in a professional manner. The machine is just awesome, GenTech shipped my order a few hours after I placed it, and if it weren't for a hurricane scare I would have had my machine three days after ordering (I live in FL, GenTech is in CA). After a (very prompt) BIOS update provided by Ken which fixed a display adaptor issue, I am still amazed by it two months after purchase.

"Gentech is a dedicated and great laptop distributor. I ordered 3 Asus S96J's on September 1st and they were built and delivered by September 13th. This was my second order placed through Gentech. I loved my first S96J so much I decided to order 3 more for family members. Talking with Ken Lee, a very friendly sales rep at Gentech was always a pleasure, and he is very dedicated to customer service. About a month prior to purchase, I had called to ask his advice about future pricing on the upcoming Core Duo 2, Merom processor, and he advised me to wait because in a few weeks I could receive a similarly priced product with greater power (honesty appreciated). When merom was finally released, Ken gave me a call to inform me and insure that I would be among the first to receive a laptop with this new processor. Honestly, Gentech makes you feel like a VIP customer all the time. The pricing is great, and everything else is just what you would ask for in a company you are making a major purchase from. UPDATE: 9/25/2007
Approximately a year or so later after this purchase, one of the laptops was having trouble powering on. After troubleshooting it myself, I concluded it was a motherboard issue. I had been contacting Ken at Gentech about this issue for a few days prior to diagnosing the issue and he had insisted I send it in for him to have a look at. Long story short, I just received the laptop back in perfect working order, and also a fantastic turn-around time taking into account the parts had to be ordered from Asus and the model is discontinued. How Gentech does not have a perfect 10 rating is a mystery! Honestly, Gentech has the best customer service I have ever experienced or dealt with. Much can be attributed to Ken Lee, whom if you've interacted with, you know is a five star salesman. "

The C90S notebook you purchase was a Pre-Order and it says that on your invoice, meaning at the time you order it the product is not available.
Asus delayed the shipment from late May, we finally received the shipment on July 10th and found out there was missing screws from Asus.
We had to find all the missing screws for every notebook before we can start to build and ship.
Your order was shipped on the July 16th which, that only took 4 business days which is one day earlier than it says it will.
Again, we apologize for all the delay and hope you enjoy your new laptop.
