"Got quoted $492 for two nights. They charged my card $704.98. That's $212.98 more than they quoted. After 4 attempts to get a person on the phone they told me the difference was taxes and fees. Hotel fees run 13% or so. This is more like 43%. I could barely understand any of the representatives, all foreign. After much arguing and yelling, which I don't normally do, they offered me 10% back.
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. They will rip you off."
"I called reservation for La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Atlanta Airport North. I needed a room for one night. While trying to book she asked for my credit card details, and the mistake I made was giving her my info before completing my questions to her. Anyway after I asked her if this was a direct reservation at La Quinta she said yes I also asked her would my Airline discount be added she said yes. I then asked her to hole on because I wanted to make sure my incentives would be applied. Turns out that was a lie. I asked her not to put through payment but all off a sudden her accent got deep. She said it was canceled. Turns out she submitted the payment. When ask why and that I need her to reverse what she did she said ok. I never got a refund, never stayed at the hotel etc. I realized its pulling nails and teeth to get my money back. I've called many times asking for a manager and when I do I get told it would be a while, they put a ticket in, they even go as far as giving me this # *******211 telling me to call that # that they would be the ones to assist me. When I called that # they are a pess control # so you can imagine my reaction. I called them back and another man came on the phone. After giving my details again. He said to me the other rep I spoke to offered me 10% discount. For one an absolute lie. Not only did he not offer anything he was also very disrespectful to me. And had he offer the response would be no because the only outcome would be my money back for the lies they told and charging my card without my say so. Getaroom no one should do business with you. You should be ashamed to employee people who lie to get a sale. I need a full refund please. La Quinta inn & suites by Wyndham should really be careful who they let represent them in business it will only detour customers from continuing to book because they tell lies and deceit customers for a sale. Smh. Thank you!

"I recently booked a room at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cleveland. I mistakenly thought I was booking directly through the hotel. Unfortunaately I was not. The criminals at getaroom position that you are speaking directly with the hotel. You are not. When we reserved the rooms we were quoted an all in price of $177/night including all state and local taxes. However, when we received the confirming email each room had an additional $114 of Taxes and Recovery Fees which basically is extortion. The $342 total across three rooms. We challenged their customer service and they would not budge. We could not cancel either. I have contested the charges on my credit card and initially got the charges reversed, but the getaroom criminals contend that we were made aware of the Tax and Recovery Fees at the time of booking. We most certainly were. When making reservations make sure you are speaking to a hotel employee and that you are on the hotel website. It is difficult to know as they make their site look very similar to the hotel. getaroom equals get your pockets picked. Stay away. Never use them. If I could give zero stars I would."
"Todo fatal, llegamos al aeropuerto de Dubai a las 12 de la noche teniendo reservado y pagado hotel del aeropuerto. No nos dijeron que estaba en llegadas antes de salir por lo que salimos y no pudimos volver a entrar. Pagamos por la noche y desayuno y no nos ofrecieron alternativa ni devolución de dinero. A evitar!"
"I went to the main hotel's website and got a reservation for a specified price for 3 nights. It is a hotel and main site I use frequently. After I paid the email said getaroom.com which wasn't on the page I was on. This site charged me over $90 in fees on top of the agreed upon nightly rate. The email said I had until 10:00 am Denver time to cancel without incurring any fees so I did. I tried three times, got three different people and all three refused to cancel, modify or get me a supervisor and one kept me on hold for over an hour before I hung up. This site was deceptive as I was under the impression I was on the main hotel page, the terms and conditions were not explicit prior to me finishing the reservation and the email is contradictory to what the representatives told me. It is s FRAUD and has the worst customer service. "
"They make you think you're on the actual hotel's website.
Somehow you end up on theirs and they promise very good rate. You complete the process with no mention of the "actual" price. You're asked to finalize your payment without seeing that they've tacked on an additional $60 on top of the for the (already overpriced) $90 hotel rate. You only see this “reservation fee” once the payment has been made!
"
"I thought I had called the hotel directly. I booked two nights and was told the rate and total. When I received my credit card bill there was an extra $85.09 in Tax Recovery charges on my card. I was told this wasn’t an error and could not be refunded. If I could give 0 stars I would and would warn anyone that this is a terrible company!!!!!"
"Cancelled my reservation 5 minutes after making it after realizing there were huge hidden fees- didn’t read the fine print thoroughly and canceled- I lost everything I paid for this booking."
"Same experience as everyone else. Thought I was dealing with the hotel directly. Said the room rate was 135 but I was charged 205. I would say don't do business with this company but they fashion websites to look like the actual hotel website. Such a scam."
"Identified themselves as Hilton reservations “WE are out of the convention special room rates, but have other offers.” Other offers all right, one that fails to verbalize the $280+ “service fees.” For what? I reported them to the Attorney General. Stay Away!"
"If I could give negative stars I would. Husband thought he was booking directly with the hotel, turned out it was this group. Trip had to be canceled due to the fires in CA, can't get in touch with a live person, the announcement directs you to call the hotel then hangs up on you. Called hotel, who directs you back to Get-A-Room. Finally got a person at the hotel to help us part way but we have to contact the 3rd party for a refund, but wait, THEY WILL NOT LET YOU GET TO A LIVE PERSON, JUST DISCONNECTS THE CALL."
"As an avid traveler and user of many travel websites such as Expedia and Kayak, I am fully aware of how online travel sites work. While I was searching for a hotel on the Pennsylvania/New York border, I came across a company called “Getaroom” or “CCI* Hotel RES”. They were advertised next to larger companies that are well-known such as the ones I mentioned above. Offering great room rates, I thought I would take a chance with a new company that was advertised next to much more well-known companies. I found the hotel that I wanted which was:
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Jamestown, and IGH Hotel
2811 North Main Street, Jamestown, NY, 14701
Getaroom offered this hotel for $322.65 for a two-night stay. I frequently stay at Holiday Inn’s and was pleased with this price. So I booked, or thought I had booked, this hotel. After entering all my credit card information and began the process of booking. When I got to the final confirmation page, I noticed that the hotel I was booked for was:
Comfort Inn & Suites
3025 Route 426, Findley Lake, NY, 14736
But the price was still the same. The $322.85 that I agreed to pay. But the Comfort Inn was a much cheaper hotel coming in at $240.69. Getaroom booked me at the wrong hotel for the more expensive hotel’s price. So, to make sure I wasn’t looking at things wrong, I went back through the whole process again. Sure enough, through the whole process, Getaroom was advertising Holiday Inn & Suites (the correct hotel), and then once you got to the confirmation page, it said Comfort Inn & Suites. This would be something easily missed by anyone as all the previous pages of the process said Holiday Inn and Suites. I then took a look at my confirmation email that Getaroom sent, and I was, in fact, booked at the Comfort Inn at the Holiday Inn price. I immediately canceled within minutes and dialed the customer service number for Getaroom. The cancellation policy for the Holiday Inn & Suites Jamestown, was fully refundable until 6/23/2021 by 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Then, I was directed to the incorrect booking with a No Refund policy, which is not what I agreed to. Getaroom is showing paperwork of the incorrect booking which I did not make. Which is why I thought there was a glitch in the system. I did not agree to a non-refundable hotel room at the Comfort Inn. I agreed to a fully refundable hotel room at the Holiday Inn & Suites Jamestown for $322.65.
After the customer service number spontaneously hung up a few times, I finally was able to get through to a “representative”. I explained to her that I was booked for the wrong hotel and was wondering if she could help me book the correct hotel. The representative, without hesitation, said that she was not able to help me, and that the cancellation policy was final. I wasn’t trying to “cancel” my reservation, I just wanted help getting the correct hotel room as at the time, I thought it was just a glitch with the website. However, I was completely shocked when I received the answer of a flat-out “No”. She claimed she could not help me. Even after explaining the “glitch” in the company’s website. She would not explain why the company’s website was working incorrectly, and would not give me an explanation as to why I was booked for the wrong hotel with the correct price of the other hotel that I wanted. There was no “customer service” about this company. This is when I decided to contact Capital One for advice because I was being scammed.
Once I reached Capital One Visa and was speaking with a representative, we made three different three-way calls together to try and reach Getaroom’s agents. There again, was no answer, and spontaneous ending of calls. This is when I asked to issue a chargeback.
Upon further research, I ran into thousands of complaints about this company on multiple travel sites and the Better Business Bureau. I have included the complaints from the BBB and other websites detailing identical situations. It seems as if this is what the company does. People try to book a hotel, and get booked for the wrong hotel, or charged hundreds of dollars more than they agreed to pay while booking. This is exactly what happened to me. After trying to resolve the dispute multiple times with Getaroom’s Customer Service, I am writing a review to warn everyone of this SCAM. PLEASE DON'T BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY.

"If there was a negative 10 this scam company would get it. They should be put out of business. They buy through priceline and add on a huge handling fee. (mine was $90 for a $167 room, making the total $257) This is added on without your knowledge along with the fact that it's a non refundable purchase. I will be contacting the BBB along with Priceline and all others to help put these ppl out of business. To give you an idea of the customer service i called to try to refund the purchase, during the entire call I heard a rooster crowing in the background.... "
"Total scam with respect to the amount of fees they charged to our reservation. I can't believe they can operate this way in today's world."
"They lied to me on the phone and said the hotel had a 4 star rating when, in fact it had a 1 star rating. The hotel was horrible and I would not risk staying there or letting my pet stay there. Get a room did not get me a refund. I was charged for a room that we did not stay in. I would rather pay $220 for NOTHING than risk leaving a gross hotel with bed bugs.
Thanks get a room. YOU ****"
