"Signed up for homeadvisor they send you dead end leads and charging 80 to 100 per lead .I was not able to talk to 3 different leads I was charged for all 3 evan after I explained that I can not sell my business if the lead is fake. BE WARNED STAY AWAY FROM HOMEADVISOR they are thieves !!!"

"I'm a contractor with home advisor. 50% of they time they send me leads where the person never answers the phone or its a wrong number. The leads cost almost $85-$155 each and when I call customer service and tell them the lead wasnt a lead at all they basically say "screw you". They charge you whether or not the person answers the phone or not. They try to tell you losing the money is part of using their service but its not. The $325 annual membership fee is the cost of using their services. Each lead you buy seperatly. I don't mind paying for a lead if I at least get to talk to a client and have a shot at the job. When no one answers the phone its unethical to call that a lead and take a contractors money. They know if the home owner answers the phone or not too because you basically 3 way call the home owner through home advisor. IF YOU ARE A CONTRACTOR, SUBCONTRACTOR OR HANDY MAN STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAM OF A BUISNESS. I've literally thrown away so much money using their "services"."

"I never signed up on the site, therefore, I have no idea how they got my number. First, the rep starts the conversation saying he has leads in my area and then states 290 to sign up and on top of that they want you to give out personal information such as social over the phone to complete a background check. I recommend never give your social over the phone to a company that you have never did business with. I've had to block this company because they call extremely a lot I do not want your business."

"Service Magic AKA Home Advisor was an OK source in the beginning. I set them up for 1...count that 1 commodity or service. After looking at my bill, something did not add up. Many of the contacts never responded to my calls or emails, some were absolute jokes, and the occasional one that did set..well..they were so rare, that the service with HA did not pay for itself. Lets move to a couple months ago, I noticed charges that did not make sense. They charged $600.00 worth of leads I never asked for..they then said there is nothing they can do about it. I will see them in court I guess. "

"I wish I could give a lower rating. Home Advisor gives professionals bad leads. Period. And they won't credit you for these bad leads, although the salesman that talks you into joining tells you that they will.
I kept a spreadsheet of all of my leads and 61% of them were unreachable and no credit given. That is outright theft, if you ask me. The other 39% were mostly people just shopping around and not interested in spending money.
You will spend a lot time preparing bids and meeting with people and making no money.
So, like I said, don't do it, you will regret it!"

"I was browsing for a service within the homadvisor website to learn how it works. I got to a point where it asked if I wanted to submit my project, or just view some of the contractors. I selected the latter, because I was not ready to get anything going, but homeadvisor gave out my name and phone number to these contractors without my permission. I am still getting calls asking if I am ready yet to begin my project.

I will never use homeadvisor again, because this experience proves that they cannot be trusted. After this experience, I went to look at other reviews, and it sounds like there are many other good reasons not to trust homeadvisor, basically because they apparently do not work to validate the contractors on their list and scams abound."

"Someone called his name Hunter Alousio claimed to be working with home advisor invited me to join this fraudulent company that they are helping people I sign up and they promised to start give me leads immediately firstly I got a lead after a month and when I called the number no one to be found in fact the phone is not going and debit my credit my account for the job I did not even speak to anybody I called them they promised to take the money out which they never did another one came a lead from Indianapolis when my company is in Illinois 4 hours to the lead I called them this is4 hours drive how can I live in Illinois and send a lead to in Indiana again they promised to pay me back the money they took for this lead which they never did

"i tried to pause my leads and thought I did but since i put in 2 weeks it didn't work. Come to find out and pause over 3 days has to go thru them. Don't remember that in the web page. So now they have sent me to collections. Is there enough contractors that have been stiffed to do a class action suit. i spent over $1600.00 and called 2 leads. That's $800 per lead and they would work with me if I stayed in the program, which would still cost me more for bad leads that cost too much.
