"These people are hustling contractors your biding against 5 other contractors over charging for the Leeds I'm telling you it's a rip off you have to bid the job so cheap and after every hundred dollar leed your bidding on you have to pay if you get it or not 95 % of the customers didn't even want to have the work dude just getting an idea of what it cost had a couple people never even get back to me and still had to pay homeadvisor you guys **** and extremely unfair you get a minus -5"
"Lol never got the information I was looking for. "
"I'm a contractor who uses Home Advisor. They claim to be free on their commercial. But they charge $20-$30 a lead to each contractor. We have 12 competitors. So they're making $400 for one customer inquiry that ultimately goes to one contractor. Half of the time the leads aren't even what we do as a service. The other half don't answer the phone and Home Advisor won't give credits for invalid leads. Home Advisor will try to sneek us leads out of our coverage area just to get someone for the customer to talk to and charge us for it. You have to pay $400 a year on top of the lead fees just to be put on their directory. We've been lied to, forced into awkward situations, talked to like scum, overcharged, etcetera
Do not sign up for Home Advisor. You'll regret it. "
"I hope the go out of business. There business model is shady and they screw over the consumers and the contractors. "
"Loaded app .... At 10:42 pm the plumber called me and all I did was look. No appt. Made. Remove app at once but now my number is out there. "
"I needed an earthquake retrofit inspection and requested contractor information, just to find out that several were called saying that I was requesting work. One of the people who called me informed me that any time they get a lead they have to pay, not when the lead pans out. That is very unfair to the contractors. I WILL NOT USE HOME ADVISOR AGAIN."
"I signed up March 10th 2017 and I'm canceling less than a month. They over charged for Leads I never called or used. The up the price of the lead because I said I do not provide that type of service. The charged my account with out my pomission for services I never used"
"I used them to get an electrician and after he had every taken apart he said that he couldn't honor the original price. So I was stuck paying the higher price. I gave him a bad review and Homeadvisor removed it for some reason and refused to talk to me about it. A crappy company and would rate them even lower if I could."
"Years after having my sprinkler system installed I had a problem starting up the system. I called Jim Martin to explain what went wrong and he told me what I needed to do and I fixed thew problem. He didn't charge me for the advice. He said he liked happy customers."
"They recommended multiple companies. Of the 5, most didn't show, didn't call, etc. One kept calling to reschedule. The one that did come said that they would send a crew for the job and gave an iron-clad quote. I didn't hear from them and asked if they were still coming. Said they were. I asked about payment and was told to NEVER GIVE CASH. They would send an invoice and I would pay if I was happy with the job. They sent one kid with virtually no tools and only a gave him 4 hours for the job. He said that he had spoken with the owners. They were over their heads on the job. They needed to buy a leaf vacuum but didn't want to pay $2000 for it. They knew I would be unhappy with the job so they sent the kid to look busy and do a little bit of work. He tried to get me to pay BEFORE HE WOULD LEAVE AND NOT LET ME LOOK AT HIS WORK. Either he was trying to get cash and then say that I had never payed or the kid was telling the truth and the three of them were in on it together. I think they thought an older woman would be easily intimidated into paying for a job not done. I reported them to Home Advisor and filed a formal complaint. Their response - I should have sent him packing earlier."
"When they called about my business I again told them no and that I just did not want there services. He proceeded to ask if I knew of a company that liked getting new jobs. Complete disrespect, of corse I love new business. Just cause I didn't want to use them they try to pull that crap. Try to pull guilt trips and push you into things. What happened to thank you for your time have a nice day, I miss companies like that. "
"Not only was the person / contractor they referred a complete joke/scam artist, but home advisor would routinely defend him & actively remove my bad revues on their website. A total scam, hard to believe they can still advertise & are still in business...I'd tell my story but its too long & borders on unbeleivable ! Do not use unless you like being ripped off !!"
"It's a FAKE company. It's a horrible company. They charge me more than I work for. They changed me for 26 jobs, but I have done only 6, because the other ones they never answered me or changed they're maind. And they never give me a credit for that jobs. I am finished with this FAKE....HORRIBLE COMPANY. I was work just for them and nothing for me "
"We had a very bad contractor found through Home Advisor. We found out the contractors license was expired even though Home Advisor guaranteed they had checked them out. We also posted a very negative review because the contractor was extremely rude. Home Advisor never posted the negative review and continue to refuse to. They also don't let anyone post a review unless you "hired" them. So say you find out how bad they are BEFORE you hire them (which is what you want), you can't warn anyone else because you didn't "hire" them.
A complete sham that is there to protect the contractors (whom they make money off of) and stick it to the consumers"
"THEY CALLED US LIKE 20 TIMES A DAY!!!!! FOR 2 WEEKS STRIAGHT!!! WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE AND HAVE A RESTRAINING ORDER PUT ON HOME ADVISOR THEY ARE VERY DESPERATE COMPANY THAT ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY! THEY HAVE CONTRACTORS THAT THEY DONT BACKGROUND CHECK SOME WHICH ARE CHILD MOLESTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
