"Leads are horrible with missing information and overcharging"

"Stay away from these guys, total scam and unprofessional. I denied their request to be scammed and this is what the sales person email me. This is a direct cut from his email:
"I have a guy that makes $30K a month with us and only has 2 employees, I'd let you talk to him, but I don't want you to waste his time. Scared money don't make no money brother. You're father didn't build a big business by kneeling to fear and not making decisions for his business. Let me know when you want to get serious about your business and I'll help you make some real money."
Alex Land was their rep. Not sure that was his real name because he could barely speak English with a Hispanic accent .

"I signed up with HA in August 2016. I received 46 leads, 60% of which were not qualified leads. I had to fight for every credit. Of the 40% I landed 1, one, job. Some of this is not HA's problem, people are flaky - they don't return calls they cancel appointments and most are just "kicking tires" or have unrealistic budgets so they are just shopping. HA relies on a business model that rightly assumes contractors won't be diligent on fighting for credits if they actually follow up their leads. I canceled my account yesterday. I don't need the practice and certainly don't need the aggravation."

"I am a contractor, signed up for leads, they charged me per lead, I call/text/email, customers don't answer or respond, HomeAdvisor will not credit me money back for leads. I was charged about $200 in one week. I made NO money. I couldn't get one of their leads on the phone. stay away

"Because we are a SMALL company I thought this would be a great way to promote our company. We provided California spectific Title 24 energy testing. No energy audits or home inspections. There aren't any sites that allow home owners or contractors to search and get good information on this required service. HA said they would try to get us listed for our specific testing. So, we signed up and in 24 hours received (3) leads. PROBLEM, they were for home energy audits which we don't provide. I contacted my sales rep. after we got charged another $70 for the leads. She said now HA wasn't going to create a service for us on the website and we had to stick with energy audits and home inspection. I told her to cancel and I demanded all my money back. They cancelled my account and sent me a statement showing a refund of all my money. So where was the money?? I called and emailed my sales rep. who now no longer responds to me. I called and emailed customer service but they wouldn't give me a status. I finally had to filed a complaint with the BBB. GUESS WHAT? I had my money back in a week. That was 3 weeks ago and HA still has never responded to my calls and emails. Stay away contractors..........this is nothing short of a scam. "

"Used Home Advisor for 3 projects. I made sure to check the box so I would not be contacted, but the contractor did on 2of 3 projects. I complained to HA after the first time but it happened again. I learned that the contractor is charged $20 from HA for each call from a lead, so HA makes money even if I dont want to be contacted. Also, the $50 reward for 3 reviews is a scam. I finished my third one over 2 weeks ago and my status still shows under review even tho it has been posted for more than 2 weeks. Home Advisor has failed to respond to my emails about the bogus reward program via email. Today I called and the customer service for the rewards dept does not work weekends...left a message...not holding my breath. "

"The leads you pay for are suspect. After 1 year, less than a 20% contact rate... simple contact could not be made with these.... qualified leads. I could call back within seconds, make multiple calls, text and email the leads mostly to no avail. The company will also auto renew your membership without notification. "

"Last friday i signed up they charged me $347.00 during the weekend i got 2 leads both leads were useless customers didnt even want someone to come out and then they charged me another $112.00 for the leads so i found out this was not going to be a good fit Monday i tried to cancel my account and ut took several calls over 4 days to get account canelled and then the refused to refund any money. I would say it was a very expensive mistake"

"For one the lady on the phone gave me a quote of 216 dollars and the tech end up charging my wife 275 dollars. Which after completing the carpet cleaning the house still smelt like the previous tenants so definitely do not use these guys as your house Will still smell the same and you will be charged more than quoted. "I was matched with 3 vendors and I asked not to be contacted by phone. I vetted the 3 names on the list on my own and contacted one for a quote. But 3 hours later I'm getting phone calls from multiple vendors courtesy of HomeAdvisors. One of the vendors actually told me he paid for the "lead" and that is how they make their money. He was actually trying to guilt me into using his service! Which basically says they sell your information to whoever is willing to pay for it. I will stick to Angie's list in the future...no pressure!!! "

"The worst company ever! As a contractor they charged ME $315 as membership that i cancelled a week later and i found out i would not have my money back because it was NON REFUNDABLE AFTER 72 HOURS! They never gave me that information before! I received leads, paid for them but never got any job because the customer never answered the phone. They promise to advertise your business on other websites. LIE! How are they going to do it without gaining anything? After all they charge me money for each lead. THEY ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY! They don't verify their customers. I think it's the worst lead based service out there based on how many false and bogus leads they have no problem charging the contractor for. . I would not recommend any homeowner, or contractor utilize Home Advisor."

"I hired a landscaper through Home Advisor. When I saw that the experience was turning sour, I called Home Advisor and they reassured me that they had a Customer Complaint Department who would act as an intermediary to resolve the problem
. Five days later, I called to file the complaint when I was certain that I had been scammed by the service provider. Now Home Advisor tells me the company is no longer advertising with them so they have no leverage and basically there is nothing they can do. I will not use them again!"

"I received an email and a text message from HomeAdvisor confirming the appointment, then waited for 5 hours. No show, no call. IMO the confirmation should come from the contractor via HomeAdvisor, not automatically generated by the websites, as it seems happened. Now IDK if the plumber I chose is unprofessional or if HomeAdvisor is not functioning correctly, but since I only dealt with HA, it's fair to assume that the web service is at fault for verification of an appointment that either was not communicated to the contractor, or was not possible at the time required, or... something. Who knows. I won't be using it again. Waste of a work day is something you only sign up for once"
