"LETTER I SENT TO IMPACT COMPUTERS - OH AND IM STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND!
I ordered a part from you guys on Nov 23.
Invoice # xxxxxx - part I ordered was LTN154x2-L02-RB
I received the incorrect part on Dec 1st (LTN154x1-L01-RB)
During a live chat conversation on Dec 2, After much discussion, I(we) decided I would have the correct part sent to me at your expense if it was your error and my expense if it was my error.
the correct part being sent using 2-3 day shipping.
I then went and put in for a RMA.
Dec 6th I received my RMA order #421017-JIR-1217
Dec 7th I shipped the item
Dec 13th I received conformation of delivery
Dec 14th an email arrived from IMPACTCOMPUTER saying my order had been processed.
on Dec 24 I carefully read all emails in an attempt to figure out why my part had not arrived
I discovered that in our last email it said you were refunding my money minus shipping and restocking fee!
that was two and a half weeks ago!
THIS IS SO WRONG ON SO MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START MY COMPLAINT.
I do see on the invoice it says you may substitute a 100% compatible part in some cases.
The part I received does not line up with the screw holes on the laptop, so I figure that does not apply.
Although I would prefer a 100% refund so I may take my business else where, your terms promise to screw me if I do,
so there for I need the part I ordered and shipped immediately - however feel free to make things right and send
part # LTN154X2-L02. (instead of LTN154X2-LO2-RB)

"Shipping time for a replacement DVD/CD RW drive was fairly good since the order was placed near the Christmas holidays. And I was really pleased to receive a free, small tool kit perfect for changing the 4 screws from one drive to the other.

My first concern was noticing stains on the foam packing around the sealed drive. That concern was confirmed when the drive (minted in 2007) proved to be DOA.

Now I wait for an RMA number, then ship the drive back and wait for a replacement.

Here's hoping the next one is a keeper.

"This firm will send you the wrong part, under the guise of "it's a compatible OEM part, it will work". They will then charge you to exchange it, and make you pay for return shipping to fix their mistake.

If you must do business with them, pay with a credit card issued by a bank that's not afraid of chargebacks - you will more than likely need to issue one.

In my case, I ordered a new LCD for a Dell notebook, verified the Dell part number and its compatibility before ordering, and was sent a completely different part with an incompatible connector.

The upshot of all this is I had to pay $22 in shipping to correct their mistake. Avoid doing business with this firm if at all possible!

"I had called Impact prior to placing an order for a HP Multibay DVD-RW optical drive to install in an HP NC8000 series notebook. Their website showed 10 new units in stock, part # 375557-001, priced at $99.95 , and a complete hardware screw kit, part # 382692-001, priced at $19.95. I wanted to verify that the DVD drive was in fact new, and in stock. Upon assurances that both conditions were true, I placed the order ( 12/16/2010 ).

I was provided a UPS tracking number, and did track the delivery, which arrived on 12/22, within the UPS Ground 5-7 day time frame. Once opened, I saw that the contents had been carefully packed, and had arrived intact. Both products were in original HP unopened heat-sealed packaging, and looked as advertised new products. I installed the drive in the bay, and booted up. The OS recognized the new drive, but I couldn't get the tray to open, either by pressing the drive tray button, or selecting Eject from the drive right-click context menu. Rebooted, same result. I then decided to try the paper clip in the release hole on the drive door technique, and the tray popped out. Left the tray open, restarted the machine, pushed the tray in, and tried the button - tray opened. Context menu Eject also now worked.

Burned some files to disc, worked fine. Drive quiet and smooth. Then erased and formatted the disc, also worked well.

During the interim between placing the order and receiving it, I had been searching for other parts on various other websites, and had run across a negative comment about Impact in the product review section, which led me to this site. Needless to say, after reading many of the reviews here, I experienced some significant anxiety about what I was going to find in the shipment. As my comments above describe my result, I can happily state that those fears were unfounded. I'm also one of those people who can go into a store, and select a box from the back of the shelf that hasn't been opened and isn't all banged up, and surer than chewing gum will stick to your shoe will have grabbed the one box out of 14 that contains the defective unit, or is missing parts. So, it's not like Lady Luck has the hots for me, or even knows my name.

This purchase was my first transaction with Impact, and here's my summary of my experience with them:

1.) Someone always answered the phone each of the three times I called them, answered my questions, took my order and shipping information accurately over the phone, and spoke with me in an efficient and businesslike manner.

2.) The product was shipped out the next day after placing my order.

3.) My parts arrived on-time, undamaged, and matched the condition of the parts illustrated and described on the website, so my expectations were met.

4.) The drive works properly, and is in fact much quieter than the CD-RW unit that I removed ( put aside for safekeeping, since it still burns, reads, and erases well ), so I am enjoying the upgraded DVD burning capabilities.

5.) I feel that the prices and shipping cost were fair, and that I received value for my money.

I can't explain how things went so awry for those that have related negative experiences here, nor do I know what percentage they are in relation to the total customer numbers for Impact over the same time span of all the reviews here. I can only speak to my purchase experience with them, and state that when I'm looking for other parts, if they show the item in stock, in the condition and price that are acceptable to me, I will call them again to verify that they have the part number they're showing actually in stock at that moment, in the described condition at the advertised price, and will order from them again. I have no reason to believe that any future transaction will not be as satisfactory as my first.

"Wow. These negative reviews about this company are actually correct. Here is some detail on what happened to us:

Product Ordered - HP Product ID - 501587-001
Product Received - IBM Product ID - 92P0986

Contacted customer service and they informed us that what we received is compatible with what we ordered. We explained to them that it is not nearly close to what we ordered. As you can see if you google the part numbers above.

They informed us to pay the shipping back and wait an additional 5-7 business days for them to review the case once the product has been received to see if they have the correct item in stock.

The Sales Team on the day of the order said that there is plenty of the item in stock but after asking for a Supervisor and discussing the issue with them they informed us that after receiving the incorrect item that there isn't any of the item in stock.

The buttom line is this company is falsely advertising items that they have in stock but as soon as you order an item they do a "bait and switch" and send you another item that is not nearly close to the item that was originally purchased.

Please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this seller. They are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL and VERY UNORGANIZED.

I bought this product on 12/7/10. The website still states there are "5 units on hand", but on 12/15/10 they called me saying they don't have the product, but could make a special order for $699. I refused. They said they will take more 15 business days to return the money to my PayPal account.

"I own a small business which uses 5 work stations and I've used Impact to replace failing hardware parts for my Dell computers many times. Their fees are very reasonable and the parts have been perfect replacements. Their representatives are knowledgeable and professional. "I ordered a 4200 RPM laptop hard drive but instead they sent me a 5400 RPM one. Since I was going to replace dead hard drive in my MP3 player low rotational speed (and hence low power consumption) was crucial to me. I can't use the drive they sent me. They offered RMA and I'll be sending this hard drive back to them for refund.

The SERIOUS problem with this company is that they QUIETLY replace parts with some other parts they THINK are compatible, and they DON'T EVEN MAKE A SLIGHTEST ATTEMPT to let you know they are going to replace a part BEFORE they do it. If they emailed me and told me that they don't have that 4200 RPM hard drive I'd appreciate that and either cancelled my order right there or asked them to send me another 4200 RPM drive if they had one.

So in the end my rating for them is POOR. You can shop there, but TRIPLE CHECK by phone they they CERTAINLY have the part you order before you make an order, and even them maybe prepare for unpleasant surprises.

I woudn't rate them as SCAMMERS though since they at least offered me a refund. Just be EXTRA careful when shopping there.

Ordered a Dell Power Supply there website stated it was new. When I received the product it was clearly either a used product or refurbished product. The case is all scratched and dented the stickers have been faded and the sticker that says warranty voided if broken is broken. (pictures taken)
I am currently going through the dispute policy with paypal.
Just go a nice form letter from them stating it was an error on the website and it has been corrected please send the item back for a refund. No explanation as what they are offering to refund.
Just went to website and it still says the product is new.
There policy for a refund dances around the issue of them sending you the wrong product or a used product.
If the website had stated a used or refurbished product I would not have purchased the item. (It was cheaper elsewhere). Why should I have to pay for the freight.

Why should I have to pay for their incompetence. If you make an error as a company own up to it and make it right. If I make an error in my business I see to it that it is made right. The reason companies like this continue on is because there are no consequences for their actions. What are they out, nothing except a customer they do not care about. Once the product is returned they will probably resell it.
I will continue to update as the process goes along. Based on all the bad reviews, just on this one site, it appears that the company has a history and pattern of deceptive business practices with the bait and switch.

When you see a response that says this is our policy just remember what they are really saying is WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. We are just sorry we could not pull one over on you and got caught.

On 11/16/2010 yet to receive a repsonse from my friday email and have had to escalate this matter with Paypal. Here is is 5 days later and their website still states this product is new. I had my father-in-law contact the company and inquire about the product and they told him it was new and in stock.
