"I recently made an online purchase with J&R Music and Computer World. I had done many searches on a laptop that would fit my needs the best, at a reasonable price. J&R by far offered the best deal. I had done business with them before and new that they were a top notch company. I had no problem purchasing my new Sony VAIO laptop and had no problem with the cross country shipping. I received the UPS tracking code immediately and followed it's progress to california. I ended up getting my laptop earlier than promised. :) "

"Found JR through my Discover card, as a participant in the 5% cash back program. Product arived with free shipping fairly quickly. Product was packed pretty well, however I would recommend also putting some cusioning material BELOW the product, rather than just on the top and sides. I'm sure this is where most of the shock of being transported around comes from-the bottom. Product is working just fine, but cushioning underneath would just add that extra layer of protection-definitely worth the extra effort on a $500+ product! Hopefully UPS is much gentler on their packages than airline baggage handlers at the airport!"

"The item I purchased is a West Bend 5 qt. slow cooker. We have been using these for approx. 20 years. We may buy a new one every 4 - 5 years. But if you're careful about the heat and he utensils it would last much longer. In fact we have never had one quit working on us.
We have bought them as gifts, and everyone we have given them to, loves them as much as we do.
You haave two ways of cooking, you can use the bottom plate that the pan sits on as a grill, then you have the pan which can be used on the bottom plate, in the oven or on the stove. It is so versitile.

"I searched numerous websites for this Bella Ceramic electric tea kettle and J&R Music and Computer World had the best price, no shipping charges and no tax. So I purchased it from them. Delivery was scheduled for between December 11 - 13 and I received it before that date. High quality product. Great service. I'll be back to J&R again."

"The old bait and switch is alive and well at JR.com. I ordered two HP laptops with quad core A8 processors for Christmas presents. They send me two HP laptops with dual core A6 processors. I call them up and they said it was a mistake (wink wink), but they want $125 more for each laptop with the processor I ordered. Tell UPS to come get your laptops, they are waiting by the door. I guess I am a slow learner, this is my second problem with JR.com this fall and I order a lot of stuff from them. Moving on to Tigerdirect, hope I get the laptops by Christmas."

"Ordered a router over 3 week ago. The router was shown as in-stock at the time of order with estimated ship date of the next date. 3 weeks later they still haven't shipped the router. Customer service is extremely slow to respond, not helpful at all, and very unapologetic. They said it's because my credit card process took too long, which is a flat lie because I have not had any problem with my credit card. In fact I have purchased from Amazon with same card and have received 2.5 weeks ago. I gave this site a try based on lowest price available, but I would not buy from them ever again."

"I ordered a Samsung 830 SSD from J&R, and even though they were out of stock, they allowed orders to be placed due to a "future" shipment coming in. I bypassed other good deals for this drive from NewEgg and Amazon, because I knew I was getting one. Two weeks later, I called J&R (no notice from them at that point), only to find out that my order was "cancelled" due to an inability to obtain inventory. To add insult to injury, they offered me a substitution, which was the inferior 840 drive at a cost that was $15 higher than the 830. When I told them that Tiger Direct had the drive for $69, they checked with management and said that the price was below their cost and there was nothing they could do. Terrible, terrible customer service in this competitive world we live in. Needless to say, I will never do business with them again, and they should be ashamed of themselves for lacking integrity to this degree.

UPDATE: December 12th, 2012
I was contacted by J&R regarding my situation, and I spoke with a helpful rep that offered me a competitive alternative to what I had originally ordered. I placed the order and I should be receiving the item this coming week. I just wish they would have been this accomodating right when the 830 order fell through, and I wouldn't have felt the way I did.

Update: December 26th, 2012
I called back last week and ordered another SSD from the same rep that was so helpful with my previous order. I feel the need to increase my rating once again, as I feel that she really went "the extra mile" to accomodate me and turn my experience around. She exhibited the type of service that makes you feel like your business is appreciated and valued. Again, this review would be five stars overall if I would have received this level of service from the getgo.
