"I've always been a Dell fan but was getting frustrated this time because they didn't offer exactly what I was looking for. I started searching around the internet for the elusive company that would let me pick exactly what I wanted, and also provide good customer service. Eventually found KC and liked what I saw. I must admit I was nervous because I browsed reviews and couldn't find a bad one. Hmmm... something fishy going on here. No one is that good. Well, no harm in getting a quote...

I sent an email around 11 pm on a Saturday night explaining what I was looking for. Then got up Sunday morning and went straight to the computer feeling devious... "if this company's so great they'll have a response for me by now"... and they did. It was the first of numerous emails I exchanged with them. Responses were always prompt and extremely helpful.

I ended up ordering from KC. Got the system on time on a Friday afternoon. Set it up the next day and couldn't get anything to appear on my monitor. Sent an email with my symptoms, and got a response back within about an hour (yes, on a Saturday) that I should try re-seating my vid card as it probably worked its way loose in shipment. Bingo. That did it. And my system has worked great ever since. It's been about 4 months now, and I couldn't be happier with it.

I highly recommend KC. The prices are higher than if I'd bought the pieces on my own, but having KC build it for me, give recommendations, test everything out, and provide fantastic support, was well worth it.

"Overall this was a good buying experiance. I was a little worried buying from a company like Kevin's because of the familiarity of the big companies such as HP, Dell, etc. I looked at all the big companies and they didn't have exactly what I wanted. I primarily use Photoshop so I needed RAM more than anything. I also wanted double high capacity HDs and dual disc readers/burners. Basically I emailed Kevin and he responded very quickly every time (even on weekends). Kevin walked me through what I needed and where I could cut corners. I compared the cost of the items he gave me to sites like Newegg. His prices for items are quite a bit higher than if you bought then ala carte yourself, but to me the experiance was worth for a number of different reasons: I can't put the machine together myself w/o a lot of headaches and mistakes. He knows his computer stuff, no doubt about that. I didn't have to deal with some Middle Eastern fellow that I can't understand and giving me a run around. "The experience was overall good. The order was delayed a little when they were out of stock of the case I ended up selecting but they told me up front when it would ship and they were correct.

The system seems to be well put together.

I havn't had any real problems with the system (had it a little over a week) although last night I had a BSOD which is making me a bit nervous, but we'll see if it becomes a problem or if it was an isolated incident. "

system fit within budget. Decided to order AMD Athlon64 3000+ with 1GB memory,
case, CD-DVD, floppy, WinXP, 120GB hd, etc. Arrived well-packed a day
ahead of time and all parts down to last screw were included, all
installation CDs, manuals, etc. System ran right out of the box. Very quiet,
smaller footprint, performance about 10-12X over old system
(P2-333,256MB). Added memory well worth cost to prevent paging.
Had one after-purchase question about case, this answered very promptly. System
now 5 weeks old and working well. I liked very much getting

"Two years out from having KC Computers build my *dream machine*, which quickly turned out to be a nightmare.

One WD SATA hard drive failed right out of the box, all four modules of 1GB Corsair DDR RAM failed at one point or another (causing no end of mischief) and the second WD SATA hard drive failed recently.

I would not choose a computer from KC again."

"Have you ever wanted to know that tech-savvy friend who could build you a machine from the exact parts you wanted, but also wanted the accountability of dealing with a reputable professional? Well that's what my experience of doing business with Kevin Chalker was like!

I would guess that I am probably the niche customer that can get the most from dealing with KC Computers, since I didn't know enough to build my own system with lower priced components, but knew enough to know I didn't want an off-the-shelf configuration. I had never built a machine before, and had no whacked-out old system to learn on, so instead of spending $2,000 on parts that I couldn't guarantee I could get to work together, I decided to buy a custom built system from KC Computers. Kevin walked me through what components I might have overlooked, and suggested ways I could stay close to my budget - in other words, he was making sure I got the machine that could do what I wanted it to do. After getting my invoice, I checked to see what it would have cost me to buy the components separately, and I would only have saved around $200, which is effectively the amount I paid Kevin for his expertise, workmanship and excellent customer service. I was having a problem with a combination FDD/Media Card Reader I ordered as part of my system.
