"I wish teachers were help to a higher standard. This seems to have fallen off with the new director along with the use of an app verses the forced interaction daily with parents to get the daily sheets. Now teachers have no interest in speaking with parents let alone strike up a friendly conversation or find it in their hearts to simple say hello, good morning, have a nice day ....."
"Really, I've been disappointed. I love the leadership at the school but they have people who are not educators or have any education. La Petite markets themselves as a academy which gives a false impression of it focus is on education, but the staff themselves are not educated. Again, hard to accept high prices for an academy when it really is no different than any other daycare."
"I think my children are provided a safe, loving environment. I never worry about how well they're being taken care of. I feel like my older child is learning a lot and will be prepared for K. I am frustrated with the increase in tuition. I am paying almost $100/week more for my youngest compared to when my older boy started 2 years ago. If prices continue to increase at this rate we may be looking at other options."
"We’ve had a great experience at LaPetite and will be enrolling a second child later this year."
"Overall, good school. Teacher quality varies GREATLY and has gone down in recent years. We're lucky to be with a great teacher right now."
"We were extremely happy with the overall experience with the previous director and the teachers in the infant and toddler rooms. The past few months we have been less satisfied with our overall experience based on the staff changes mentioned above."
"Overall it's the best in the northland. We all like Anna the new director. She could be more friendly and work on emotional intelligence. Shannon is hard to beat"
"I don't feel my child is anywhere prepared for kindergarten. There's been high teacher turnover in his classes, unqualified teachers, and children with behavioral problems taking up too much teacher time resulting in him not learning much. They are more of a daycare center than preschool. My daughter attended the same school, however had different teachers, and was MUCH further along than where my son is. I'm actually worried about him starting kindergarten next year and not being prepared which is ridiculous considering how much money we pay!"
"I was extremely impressed that everyone my daughter and I encountered seemed prepared for the tour. There were so many things introduced to me that I did not even think to inquire about. When they asked me if I had any questions, I felt almost unprepared because of the wealth of information! It is apparent that the processes in place at La Petite are very streamlined which makes the school that much more attractive."
"Director is not empathetic. Doesn't seem to have a great background of education or experience, based on my interactions with her. Also, she seems to put costs first, kids second. classroom ratios are definitely worse now. The teachers uniforms are tattered and sloppy, and the staff are not happy working there."
"My only concern is pricing raising almost every year. We love la petite & my kids love going to school every day! I have no doubt that my kids will be ready to go to kindergarten after learning at la petite!!"
"Overall, the school has been great. Most teachers are wonderful and genuinely care for the children. The school does focus on keeping the maximum allowed ratio in the room, even if it means moving children to another room at the start and end of the day. I understand it is a business, but this can be hard on the kids (and parents). Teacher turnover is also difficult, although this is likely a challenge for all early education centers."
"The staff is friendly enough, but I feel that my 5 month old is not receiving the level of care he should be for the amount of money it costs to have him enrolled. Also, the fact that I have to pay an additional annual enrollment fee is ridiculous."
"La Petite is undoubtedly a great school, and one of the best in the area. I have no hesitations about taking my child there, but we would like to look at other options and compare prices. Especially since we would like to do part-time with our infant. Thank you for your time!"
"Love this school. I only don't know the director because she's new but her communication has been good so far. I'm sure she'll be great. The ciriculum is great and the teachers are all nice and professional. The only thing I'd like to improve would be communication between teachers and parents. It's a lot better now that they implemented the email system and I love getting a picture. But I still really don't feel that informed about my child's daily activities or progress. More personalization would be nice. But all in all I truly love the school and recommend it every chance I get."
