"I purchased the monthly MLB TV package to test it out and was not happy about quality of the service. Due to their ridiculous cancellation policy, I had to phone in customer service to cancel. After waiting 35 mins on hold, I finally spoke to a rep who was supposed to cancel the service. A few weeks later, I noticed a recurring charge on my credit card from them. I had to call in again and wait 40 mins this time and argue with the rep over the charge. She said she could not refund the money since it was automatically set up, even after I told her that I previously called in to cancel. I was told that there was no record of that call nor my cancellation. Absolute horrible service. Would never purchase a thing from them again."
"LETTER TO MLB.COM (they have automated response so no one actually read it at MLB)
Have had a less than satisfactory experience
with MLB.com. Registered a complaint with payment method. Talked to your customer
service on the phone, had to go through sales to get it. Wanted to put my complaint in writing to make it official.
Items are as follows:
1: No prompt shipping of items in stock and located.
2: No direct line to customer service. Must dial the 888 number pick sales, yell at them to get transferred.
3: No way of cancelling orders and told by customer service not to refuse shipment.
4: Reserves money on method of payment days or longer before shipping.
5: Customer service unresponsive.
6: Items cost significantly more than at Academy
sporting goods stores.
The maple bat costs $30 more and the A1000 glove costs $15 more. Even adding taxes and weighing cost of shipping vs. gas, mlb.com is still a lot more expensive.

"I signed up for mlb.com's Gameday Audio in 2005, and it was fine. For 2006, they changed the system requirements -- making it unusable on my computer -- but auto-renewed my subscription anyway. I tried to cancel, but they do NOT respond to e-mails sent to their Customer Service department. I recommend complaining to the BBB, and FTC, and/or the New York attorney general's office."
"Beware of ordering any of their gameday audio or TV products. I had it last year and got an email saying they will auto-renew the subscription this year unless you call or email them at their cancellation email address. Well guess what? Their cancellation email address isn't valid, you just get the bounced email errors. Their 800 customer service number has a BUSY signal! You wonder how few telephone lines they have dedicated to customer support to get a busy signal. You only have 10 days to canel so it looks like they're just trying to delay getting in contact with them for 10 days and then tell you they can't cancel. Stay very very far away from their gameday audio/video products."
"I purchased two items from mlb.com. The order processed and shipped quickly. Unfortunately only one item arrived. The second item was to arrive from a different origin point in Canada.
After two-weeks, I called to see where the second item is. There is no phone number for customer support to handle these matters, only to take orders. After finally reaching a live person they kept telling me it shipped, but could not produce a tracking number. They promised to open an investigation with the carrier and resolve it in 14 days. 14 days later I called back to inform them the birthday had come and gone which the gift was purchased for. They then promised to respond to me within 48 hours with a resolution. 48 hours later I called back to inform them I had not heard from anyone yet. My e-mails went unreturned and it wasn't until I demaned to speak to a supervisor that I finally got anywhere. Again, the promised to check with the carrier and respond within 48 hours.
This order was placed on 9/22/2005 - on November 25, 2005 I called one more time this time demanding a refund. I had to again call into the order line and explain the story to an order taker demanding a supervisor several times - finally a supervisor who read over the history on the computer was very helpful and apologetic and promptly refunded my money for the item. I didn't get back the shipping charge - but I'll just let that one go because I'm tired of calling."
"Buyer beware. I had problems with their website when it was processing the credit card information. Called in and the customer service rep said it probably didn't go through but he couldn't check cause the website was having problem. Decided not to purchase later, but found out that the order went through. Called to cancel, but they wouldn't cancel. Requested to return it before they ship it so I wouldn't have to pay for the shipping back and they wouldn't even try to help with that. They wouldn't even attempt to try to stop the order and then later say "I'm sorry but we were unable to stop it." Needless to say, I'll be returning the product even though I'll be eating the shipping costs because I'd rather another company receive the profits from my purchase."
"I made 3 orders to mlb.com over the past couple of months. I had no problems and everything arrived as I had ordered it. The only complaint would be that the ground shipping is a bit slow. I never had to speak to a customer service rep since all my orders were shipped properly so I can't comment about that. Navigating through the website and placing an order is easy and straightforward."
"Website said it was instock, I ordered, and then they canceled for no reason. I have bought from them before without too much hassle, but will not buy from them again. VERY poor customer service.
EDIT: I took the chance and bought from them again. This time, I acually recieve my order, but it was the wrong color. I e-mailed them and just got back a automated response, so I repeat, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER! Sure, they are mlb.com, but believe me your just in for headaches...."
"The only reason that MLB.com is getting negative reviews is due to a price mistake that went through their system. They figured it out and cancelled the orders, refunding all the money back to the associated credit cards. I have dealt with MLB.com many times in the past and have never had a problem with them."
"all the lastest comments made were about a jacket that was listed at $11.99 and origianlly cost $250. Once MLB realized their mistake, they promptly notified all involved and cancelled what they could to survive.People that didn't get away with ripping off the site got annoyed and are trying to smear MLB's name for a pricing error, that could happen to anyone. They are mad because they lost out on the deal and were caught trying to capitalize on a mistake. Disregard previous posts dated from 2/8/05 til present about the same error. These are the sore losers !!"
"Did not send the promised item even though website shows they had it in stock. I would never purchase from them again, no matter how many gift certs or coupons they give me. "
"TERRIBLE SERVICE! They cancel your order with no valid reason. SCAM! Don't shop here! Buyers BEWARE!"
"Site had pricing error, but customer service was very deceitful about why they were cancelling my order. In addition, I had been corressponding with them using their customer service email address when after two or three replies they send me a message stating that the email address I was replying to was automated and could not accept messages. Right... Very unhappy with how I was treated by MLB.com. Will not ever shop there again."
"Ordered a leather baseball jacket for $17. MLB.com then cancelled it after they realised the price error. "
"Cancelled an order which was showing up as available (in-stock) on site. First they claimed it was an advance order. Then they claimed that it was my price mistake. What is odd is that the web-site showed the exact amount of discount they were offering!
They now have my credit card and address information. This looks like a phishing scame to me."
