"Never again. The only reason I recently shopped at Macy's was because I had a gift card I needed to use. This was last weekend - 3/23-3/25/12. I looked at coats and was amazed at all of ridiculously low prices! I bought 4 coats, some pants, boots and a few tops as well. I get to checkout, and it gives me my total. I applied my promo code as well. I get to the next page to enter my credit card information, and EVERY SINGLE ITEM was no longer available! I chatted with someone for a while, who eventually called a supervisor and I spoke with her. She was very harsh, almost screechy. I'm guessing I was not her first caller :). I explained my problem, and her response "well what do you expect? those are clearance items, of COURSE they're going to be gone! I explained to her that I added the same items to my cart several times that morning, and each time the site allowed me to do so, until I got to checkout. She then said it was a system glitch. I got nowhere with her, so I called customer service, spoke with a supervisor named Kim and again explained my problem. She did an online search of all of the macy's stores looking for the items I wanted and each time I gave her a new SKU #, her system populated with "0" as in 0 items left countrywide. Even she sounded surprised. Although she kept reminding me that she was having to do each item individually and it was taking up alot of her time. (Not nearly as long as the 3 hours I spent trying to BUY the items.) She also said it was a computer glitch with the online shopping and that it would be fixed later that day. Well today, a week later, the items are still there, some with new colors and sizes! These same items that I was told a week ago did NOT exist! I don't know what macy's is trying to pull, (actually I do, and it's illegal) but I finally used my gift card for something else and will NEVER, EVER set foot or log on to another Macy's again. Most of what they sell is cheap; remnants of all of the stores that they merged with several years ago. It's a shame, but I'll be spending my money at Dillard's or Nordstrom from now on."

"I ordered a suit online with my credit card, rec'd a confirmation email, and two days later received a terse email stating that my order had been cancelled due to unverifiable information on my order. No phone number was provided. I had to search for a 1-800 number for Macy's and when I called, a very rude phone rep informed me that they "called my bank" for fraud prevention and the phone # I provided did not match the phone # the bank had on file for me?? I asked if they normally call someone's BANK for an online order and told her I use two phone numbers; one for companies I think I might be telemarketed by and my cell phone which I only give out selectively (like my bank). She told me that I wouldn't be able to place my order without giving them the number my bank has. I told her that I would rather take all my future business to another merchant.

Macy's did this to me with a credit card application a little while back because my residential address (which was less than one year old) didn't match my credit report. When I called to find out how I could provide proof of address they told me I would need to go to a store and REAPPLY (and also have my credit pulled again!) I tild them to stick their credit card.

As a security professional I can understand trying to prevent fraud, but seriously, if Macy's can't get the fraud thing down without being total JERKS to people who are giving them our money, then I don't think they will do a very good business in a declining economy. Never again Macy's!

"I shopped online at Macy's for the 1st time ever and I returned my purchase in the store over a week ago and my checking account still has not been credited for my return. It should not take more than a week to get your money back for something you return in the store. I did not have this problem with JCPenney or Khols when I returned online purchases in store I got my money back then and there. I will NEVER again shop at Macy's PERIOD! Their service sucks!!!"

"I ordered 11 days before Xmas only to receive an email 12-21 that part of my order was cancelled due to unavailable. Why it is not possible for a check on supply at order time baffles me! They have totally messed up my gifts! I will no longer shop with them and stay with JC Penney reliability and prompt shipping!"

"Macy's Credit Department:

Beware of using a Macy's credit card. The credit department does not send bills consistently and you cannot receive bills to a different email address than there frequent customer rewards emails. It may be easy to overlook your bill in the emails without any differentiable subject headings to a scanning eye or a consistent time frame that a bill is sent.

They told me they sent me two bills of which I only received one when I sorted through my Macy's folder. Their policy is that if a customer is delinquent they will also send paper statements in the mail before they send it to collections. The only paper statement I received in the mail was to make me aware that my account was in collections and reported to the credit bureau.

They charge serious fees when your bill is not paid in time. They are very serious about reporting their late paying customers to the credit bureaus.

I acknowledge that they sent a bill, but I know that they did not send the paper statements they told me they sent and did not send one of the bills through email that they told me they sent.

I was made to pay the excessive late pay fees. So, I paid them and closed my account.

I am publicizing this review because they just sent me a bill of $2.00 for accumulated interest in September prorated. The account has been closed for 3 months. They should have had me pay when I settled and closed the account.

"I've ordered from macys.com several times and I've never had any problems. They'll ship quickly although they usually use UPS Ground which can be slow. The $8 shipping fee is a nuisance if buying less than $100 worth of items. However, you will get coupons in the mail if you are a Macy's cardholder or you can sometimes find them online (such as 20% off, $10 off $30, $20 off $50). The coupons will make the purchase a good value."

"Macys on-line customer service stinks! I have had to call repeatedly to try to get refunds for products returned. The people who answer have no idea how to help. They promised me that my credit card would be refunded and then I got a gift card in the mail for one out of three items that I ordered. Every time I call I wait on line forever and then listen to the people on the line stammer when they try to help. I am sick of calling them. I am just going to do a charage back on my credit card"

"I received terrible customer service from Macys. I ordered a couch and coffee table and was promised delivery before Thanksgiving. I placed my order on Columbus day and got an E-mail 2 weeks later saying the sofa would not be in until the end of November! Besides that, the sofa is now on sale and I'm sure no one was going to offer me a refund! Now I will not have living room furniture for the holidays! I have canceled my order"

"Got my cuisine art griddler, its fantastic, and the price well worth it.. definatley better than george foreman grill! macy's really stepped there game up on online shopping. You always try to look elsewhere for things and sometimes you forget macy's has a lot of good stuff for cheap."

"We have shopped twice at Macys online and been very disappointed with their attitude both occasions. We now stick to Amazon for online shopping and go to stores (including Macy's).

Both times something got screwed up. For example, the first time the item did not match the picture but they insisted it did and refused to take it back and so on. Rather disgusting attitude. We stopped dealing with them online

"When I want to get some brand name clothes, I use macys.com to find things on sales. Their pictures are not very accurate in terms of color. Their delivery are okay, not very fast and they don't give estimated delivery date."

"I love Macy's online store. Ever since leaving NYC, I have not been able to physically shop at Macy's, so I am very happy to use the online store. They always have specials, so I take advantage of that. They have quality merchandise that exceeds most stores and you can get similar prices as some of the cheaper retails like Walmart, Kmart and target. Of course, the quality is always better. The orders always arrive intact and the make good on any returns. "
