"I first discovered madison seating a few years back, chair arrived and had no issues with it for years. I left my previous job and unfortunately had to leave the chair. I ordered the same chair for my new office, unfortunately the chair arrived broken. I contact customer service and they responded timely with the offer to send a replacement chair and keep the damaged chair. Would reccommend madison seating and will be using them again in the future. "
"they are selling used chairs that stink like perfume and B.O.!!! Damaged items and horrible customer service. BEWARE. Not recommended by BBB. "
"I purchased a refurbished office chair from Madison Seating. It came with 30days free returns. On day 32, the gas cylinder that controls the seat height failed. I contacted Customer Service and was helped immediately. After a few trouble-shooting exchanges, Madison Seating sent a new cylinder for me to replace. Unfortunately, the replacement didn't resolve the issue so Madison Seating will be sending me a replacement chair. Their customer service is excellent."
"I think Maddison Seatting offered me a good deal to a fine chair, and the team responsed to my question nice and quick ,I would recommend it to my friends. And the shipment is faster than I thought .As a coder, the comfort of chair is important to me , it is great to have a website where I could find comfortable chair with a good deal. "
"We are a small firm, and I splurged on seven Aeron chairs for our team. After waiting nearly two months, Madison sent an e-mail that the chairs were delivered - but they weren't. My office was fully staffed, including myself, when the chairs were supposedly delivered. We would certainly have noticed if seven chairs had arrived. A review of the building's security footage shows no deliveries at the time.
Madison refuses to issue a refund, send additional chairs, or cooperate with FedEx's investigation. They won't even take my call as that is only for customers placing orders - once you place an order, no phone calls for you. Madison's rude and nameless e-mail responder (the only communication possible) has given multiple contradictory responses, including that since FedEx said marked the packages as delivered, they are prevented from filing a claim. Interestingly, I was able to file a claim - but FedEx keeps telling me to have the shipper, Madison, contact them. But Madison refuses. However, FedEx did tell me that Madison only tendered four boxes (one per chair) - not the seven they told me. FedEx is now trying to track down what happened to the other four chairs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - DON'T LET THEM RIP YOU OFF"
"Madison Seating was quick to respond and resolve the situation when my order arrived damaged."
"The team at Madison Seating was so helpful in replacing my office chair. FedEx lost the package and Madison Seating helped me find the package and ensured it was delivered. Unfortunately, the package was damaged by FedEx but Madison Seating was quick to respond and super helpful in replacing the product. I would recommend ordering from Madison Seating. "
"Customer service was great in responding into any inquiries I had about my office chair that I ordered. "
"I ordered a HumanScale Liberty Task Chair from Madison Seating. The chair arrived ahead of schedule. When the chair arrived I unpacked the chair and found the seat shell was damaged. Annie from customer service was super nice and told me that I did not have to send the broken chair back and they offered to replace the chair with no additional charges. Very satisfied with customer service and I am looking forward to my new chair. "
"I bought a chair that was listed as in stock at the beginning of January. Their website and receipt email said that products will be shipped in 10-14 business days. When I heard nothing in that time frame, I contacted the company. THEY WILL NOT TAKE ANY CALLS ABOUT SHIPMENT, only calls for new orders. If they already have your money, you are told that you must contact them through email only. I sent and eventually got an email back, saying, so sorry, with COVID their shipping will take much longer and my chair would be shipped in early to mid February. They have since tried to cover their butts on various sites by saying they have told people that it would take longer. However, at the time I bought the chair both the website and the receipt email very clearly said 10-14 days for in-stock items.
It's mid-February, and it's the same song and dance routine. I emailed and I called the company, despite their autoattendant saying that existing order issues will only be handled through email. I got someone right away, so... so much for not having people available to handle issues. Of course, I got the same garbage, saying that they can not provide any shipping information or a refund by phone, only via email. I noted that the people handling emails have telephones too, so please connect me to the person(s) who is handling emails. Of course, it was the same thing repeated over and over... can't give information about shipping, can't cancel and refund a purchase that hasn't been shipped over a month after the initial promise, can't connect a person to anyone who can discuss it...
DO NOT BUY FROM MADISON SEATING."
"The good:
- The chair looks new...I actually expected more wear/blemishes for a refurbished chair. I've sat in Aeron chairs for the entirety of my professional career, and I wanted one for my home office. I know where they tend to wear (base, where the back hits the desk) and saw not signs of wear in these locations.
- When I emailed Madison regarding expected date of delivery, they responded to my email very quickly, even on a Sunday.
The bad:
- I ordered mid December and received my chair early February. I can expect some of the delay due to Covid, but 45 days for the most common Aeron chair in existence is a stretch. Madison's website notes 15 business days.
- The base was touched up with a paint that is off-gassing. It is gradually diminishing, but I would recommend leaving the chair in a well ventilated room for a few days before putting it into a confined space.
So do I think I got a reasonable deal? Yes. Would I recommend you order from Madison? Only if you know what you are getting into, and I wouldn't recommend ordering anything other than a very common office chair with standard features."
"Bought a chair from Madison seating. Without reading their reviews first (WHOOPS)
The chair never comes.
We get a refund from Amazon. (Thanks, a-z team.)
The chair finally shows up 10 days outside the delivery window. Box is trashed.
Madison sends 3 emails before 1pm the next day demanding we ship the item back or face prosecution (lol), NY Small claims (LOL LOL!)
Give me a break, chair sellers. I don't work for you. Even the call center at amazon.com knew you should have corrected the ship to address when you knew the refund had been issued.
How do you guys even turn a profit?
We contact amazon 15x pleading that Madison send a box. C'mon. I got nothing to lose. Just send a stupid box for your counterfeit chair and get it the hell off my porch 55 days after I ordered it.
Nice folks at Amazon tell them NUMEROUS TIMES to send a box or forget it. Amazon tells me not to contact them. Ok, not a problem here.
Finally... They send a smaller box with what??!!? A NEW SPARE CHAIR BACK inside - Yep. A brand new Herman Miller chair back. Wow. Will wonders never cease.
We talk to the Fed Ex guy who stops by every day to drop off stuff. FedEx refuses to pick it up without a box and proper packaging materials- and sorry, I'm not spending a dime for you Madison Seating team. Fed ex comes and goes and the parts just sit on the porch in the rain and the snow. Pretty sad chair out there in the cold.
When they finally call and I pick up the phone to speak to the "customer service" rep and ask why they haven't sent a box, she asks who my wife is and "WHATS THE NAME OF YOUR FARM?? ARE YOU A FARM?"
I tell her that none of that is any of her business.... and she tells me that I will "be getting a call from the Boss tomorrow!" and I let her know to tell him to save the dime and send a BOX!
I let her know that she was an idiot, to which she responded that I was actually the idiot.
"Yep, an idiot with a free chair. Bye!"
Then, Madison stalks my family and I and calls incessantly from a caller ID blocked number --- (Thanks for the subpoena help, T-mo! ) - and as soon as they call again, the Call Trap app will track the number and number of calls :)
ATTN: Madison seating: How much time have you wasted out of your life? Shouldn't you have just sent a box? You've obviously spent more than the value of an old used chair (AND SPARE PARTS LOL) and should have just swallowed your pride and sent the box. Good heavens. Look at all your real reviews, and the ones you can't flag.
Send a box. You need a life and should sell better chairs. People might actually like you.

"Deceitful seller!
Listed as ‘open box’ An item in excellent new condition with no wear.
I received a ‘used chair’. It smelled like an old home. The arms were scratched up, had a lot of damage, was painted over. The upholstery had stains and wrinkling on the top and bottom.
Also the base was silver in the pic and I received a black base.
Upon contacting the seller they tried to justify that it is a good price and said it’s a $1200 chair. That is bs! On the Design Within Reach website, $1100 is for a brand new chair with upgraded material. This actual chair brand new goes for $595. The chair they sent is only worth $100 at the most!
Another shady thing about them is they switched this ‘Setu’ chair i purchased and changed the photo on the listing an ‘Aeron chair’. Once I left them negative feedback, they were able to remove my feedback and the picture changed back to the ‘Setu chair’ they sent me in a misrepresented and horrible condition. On top of it all, they raised the price i bought it at ($299) to $349.
I hope want this to stop their lies and inconveniencing the buyers.

"Recently purchased an office chair and was very pleased with the quality of the chair. Besides the chair quality, the customer service was exceptional. They were extremely helpful and answered questions about chair in general. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience and will definitely use them in the future!"
"I ordered a chair on their website. The chair arrived faster than expected. When the chair arrived the box was damaged and upon trying to assemble the chair I realized the chair was also badly damaged. They were great I did not have to send the broken chair back. I just took photos of the damage and emailed it to them. They offered to replace the chair with no additional charges. Highly recommend this company."
