"I am stuck with a $180.00 evga pcie video card that won't work with the motherboard I purchased on the same order. They refused to send me a new one or to swap it for a different brand. I even offered to pay all shipping costs. I ended up having to go to best buy and purchase a BFG card that works perfectly. Very disappointed.

UPDATE: 8/29/06. Monarch appears to be trying to rectify their less than stellar customer service and policies. After seeing this review, they have contacted me and arranged to RMA my card and send me one that will work. They have promised that their policies have been amended. I raise my opinion to a "Satisfied".

"I ordered two opteron processors on July 20, 2006. My credit card was charged on July 23. I assumed that since my credit card was charged the order had shipped. I used Monarch’s web site to check the status of my order. It only said that it is in the warehouse. I sent two emails and left a voice mail to inquire about the status of my order. I got no reply via email or phone. Only July 31, after no contact from Monarch I sent an email requesting that my order be cancelled and that my credit card credited. I received no reply from Monarch about my cancel order request. A few days later I checked the order status on their website to find that the order had been cancelled. No credit showed up on my credit card account. So on August 15, I sent another email requesting that the charge on my credit credit be reversed. I received no reply about my request from Monarch. I contacted my credit company to dispute the charge. Today, August 23, I finally see the charge reversed on my credit card."

"Ordered a cpu from them, cancelled after they switched in stock to wont be shipping for 1 week. Put up with all the bs they put me through, waited the 1 entire month it takes for them to refund your money, and guess what! they have yet to refund my money. Take my advice, dont order from this company, just order from the larger computer resellers, these guys dont even care."

"Wrong part shipped - invoice and shipping list had correct part. After I described what the correct part looks like, they said that it would ship the next day via FedEx 2nd day. Shipment was actually 2 days later via 3rd-day.

Refund on wrong part required another week.

"Monarch's customer service rocks. I have ordered combos, full systems, components, and barebones systems from them. The couple of times there were issues with my orders their customer service folks contacted me ASAP and sped up shipping to my location. Monarch also has competitive prices on their products so I will definately continue shopping there."

"We ordered a total of 4 custom workstations from Monarch split over 2 orders. These workstations were all to be identical. In reality, we found a number of discrepancies, even within the same orders.

In the first order, one workstation had an extra side fan we requested installed and the second didn't (included in the box but not installed.)
In the second order, Monarch substituted a number of different parts without clearly notifying of the situation. As a result, our "identical workstations" now have different motherboard models, different video cards (without the dual DVI connectors we needed), different CPU coolers, etc. And the added side fans we specified were dropped off the order completely!

The warranty has already been a pain so far. We had one fan fail and attempting to get it replaced involved us having to ship the fan back to Monarch, wait for them to ship it to back to the manufacturer, and then send us a replacement after they receive it from the manufacturer. This is NOT how a warranty from a computer manufacturer is supposed to work.

Shipping times were outrageous (2-3 months for the first order) and getting an explanation was like pulling teeth.

All in all, there is very little I was satisified with from Monarch except the price and given all the problems we've had that price difference was obviously not worth it.

"Ordered a video card on 7-26. Cancelled it 5 minutes later because I decided to rebuild the whole system after my next paycheck instead of putting a bandaid on an old AGP box. They charged my card anyway. Called a couple times about a refund, I either get sent to voicemail or the person on the phone says i should get it soon. Called this morning (8-22) and got passed around to about 4 different people, each of whom asked me what I needed, got my order number, put me on hold. After about 15 minutes of this and being sent to voicemail again, I called my creditcard company and issued a chargeback. Definately would NOT order from again."

"I ordered an AthlonXP 3800 X2 AM2 MB/CPU Combo. It got delayed 2 days. And after reading the current ratings, I got pretty worried so I tried to cancel. But Sterling assured me that they would work hard to make it right and that the product would ship that night and that he would send it overnight, which he did. A for effort. And the price of the CPU was cheap! "

"Monarch Computer Systems really blew me away with the excellent level of customer service that I received when they were assisting me in putting my system together. I ordered a very high end custom built system and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I really felt that Monarch went above and beyond to help me get the exact system that I wanted and I couldn't be more pleased. One other thing that I want to mention is the great prices. I had looked at several other high end system makers, specifically Alienware and Falcon Northwest, trying to put together my dream system. Neither one had exactly what I wanted, specifically the motherboard that I was looking for. The icing on the cake was that Monarch got me the exact parts I wanted, plus the system was about $2000 less than what Falcon or Alienware would have cost me. Monarch can count me as a loyal customer who will wholeheartedly recommend them to family, friends, and everyone else!!"

"I had put in a Pre-Order for the E6600 Core 2 Duo, everything was fine till I noticed on the site the ship date went from Aug 14th to the 31st. I soon began to look for another processor because I was never given any info on my Pre-Order at all. I found one In-Stock at another retailer and proceeded to cancel my Pre-Order with monarch. The next morning I received a call from a man named Sterling saying that my processor has been shipped... NOW I'm in a mess. Sterling, the great man he is made sure the price I paid was the best possible, and prompted to give me overnight shipping. How can you beat that? So in return I canceled my order with my other retailer, and that's that.

Thanks Sterling, you were an amazing help.

"Very slow shipping and even slower response to requests for updates..Stay Away unless you are willing to spend endless nights waiting for your order. Even talked to a rep and told me it is going out a thursday then waited till the following week to even ship the product out. And it is just a PSU and not a whole system :(

PS..My product arrived too late for me to even get my $20 rebate because if the paperwork isn't postmarked by the cutoff date..then the rebate is voided. ::((

"I had heard decent things about MonarchComputers and decided to try them out. However I was gravely disappointed. Their customer service is very lacking (and I would know as I called them over 10 times). Often times I would be on an indefinate hold, after which the phone would begin to ring with no answer. When the phone was answered, 50% of the time I had a bad customer sales representative. That's not to say that they are all bad - I spoke with two different people (one of whom I spoke twice with) that were both friendly, knowledgable, and helpful.
However, I placed my order 2 weeks ago and it has still not shipped - and the parts are in stock.
Overall I find myself feeling a bit upset with the service I recieved from MonarchComputers.
Would I make a purchase from them again? Possibly, it depends on the pricing. However I was able to get free overnight shipping from them which slightly eased my disappointment.
Anyways, if you're going to save money and you're willing to wait a few extra days then you'll have no problem with MonarchComputers.

"Ordered 1GB DDR2 memory chip on Mon 8/07/2006, selected 3-day shipping. Card was charged the same date. Fri 8/11, I called back and was told that there was some confusion on the shipping method and would ship second-day. Now, it's Wed 8/16, I called back and learned that the memory just arrived a day ago. I got another promise that the chip would be sent right away and I will receive it this Fri 8/18. This is the first and also the last time I buy from this seller."

"Ok Here goes. I was pretty unhappy overall with the ordering experience. I ordered on 8/6/2006. I promptly got an email on 8/7/2006 saying my order had been sent to the warehouse for shipping. It said it could take 2-3 days to ship. I thought they were just being safe to allow for some time and it would ship earlier. I was supposed to get a tracking email when it shipped. I was excited at first because i payed for ground shipping yet they put 2 day fedex on my order.

First of all they billed my card immediatly. If they don't have it in stock the bill it. This is really bad practice and you will hear other people complaining about this too.

After i didn't recieve a email on thursday i decide to give them a call about an hour before they call. I call and i get "You have reached a person that their voicemail box is full and it hung up. What the heck? Was this company going under i thought.

Anyways tuesday no email. Wednesday no email. Thursday no email. I get up Friday Morning thinking i would have an email forsure.

I try to call them Friday Morning and i finally reach someone. I told him i had not heard anything about my order. He tells me to hold and that he will have to get ahold of the warehouse. He ask for my number and says he will call me back and let me know which of course he does not do. I never get a call back. I call a second time and talk to a lady and she appoligizes and said she will in fact get ahold of the warehouse and call me back. Of course she never does either.

Finally i was pretty upset so i call again and this person transferes me to anothe person (which i assume is the warehouse) and this guy is actually very helpful and ask me to hold. He says he has to check their inventory. He said it looks like they are getting low on the item i ordered but he thinks he has one left. He told me he would make sure that i get it. Which i infact did and it shipped out friday.

Ok minor complaint is everything they ship they apparently tell fedex that the want a signature for a person to sign for it in person. They can't have fedex leave a door tag for you to sign. They did tell me about this in an email but it was still a very big hastle for me. I had to drive clear across town to get my package.

So ok to sum it up here is my compaints
1) their inventory system is horride. You will see other people complain about this too. Apparently they let people buy stuff like its still in stock and have trouble filling all the orders. Come on if monarch is such a big shop this should be something it should have

2) Their phone system is horride. I should have get a greeting with "the person you are trying to calls voicemail box is full"

3) Billing of your CC shouldn't happen until item systems. This is the only company that i have not seen do this.

4) They need to upgrade their web site. Their order status is arceac and doesn't allow you to log in and see what you have ordered from them in the past.

Anyways when i got the item it was in fine shape and packed good but after these things i don't know if i will order from them in the future in less the price is too good to pass up.
