"Update - I was contacted by someone at monarch and after that everything was straightened out, and it didn't take a month for them to repair the system. I shipped it out on a thursday afternoon and recieved it back the following thursday. Everything is currently working fine.
One complaint I never had was how organized and tucked away everything inside the case is. Makes it really easy to upgrade in the future myself.
After this I would consider buying from them again.
After waiting over a month for my system, I finally received it and everything was going fine for two hours. I had a linux kernel panic trying to update Ubuntu to recognize the dual cores, but the whole computer froze. Only way I could turn it off was with the power supply switch.
When I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't go. I called them the next day, the said they would RMA me a new power supply for me to install myself (I chose this over sending the whole thing back so I wouldn't have to wait another month for it), but they still have not sent out my power supply. The power supply comes with the case, so they have to take it out of another one. Apparently this takes a couple of days to accomplish."
"I have ordered many items from Monarch computer in the past. My experiences with there pricing and customer service have always been more than satisfactory.
Monarch computer went the extra mile to straighten out a product that was shipped by mistake. The personal attention that I recieved convinced me that Monarch cares about the customer.
No other reseller has ever gone to these lengths to see that I was satisfied. Kudo's Monarch."
"First time around the item I was purchasing said 'in stock'. However when I ordered it, the status of the order was "processing payment" for couple days. I was baffled, and emailed them about this. The email response was quick, and they told me that the particular item was in backorder, an the ETA of it was 2/10. I was kinda disappointed... However they did ask if I wanted a subsitute item, giving me the detail specs and prices. In addition, when I thought the item would come around mid February, I walked home and found a parcel. It was the item I purchased :D
It showed me Monarch does care about consumer's needs, as they probably would have sent the item as soon as they could get their hands on it, although the ETA was 2/10 :D Impressive."
"An excellent value on all the parts I got (MB,Proc,Mem,Cables). The assembly job was top notch, and the products were shipped very promptly and arrived quickly."
"I've had very good experience with Monarch in the past, so was not hesitant to buy a new system from them. So I placed an order for a system which with shipping came to $1369.60. I should've known better, but I tried to save a few bucks and bought my 3 SATA 250GB Maxtor hard drives from somewhere else. Long story shortened, here’s a breakdown of all the transactions:
4/29/2005 -- Ordered custom built computer
5/17/2005 -- Received computer, had drives installed, installed XP, all my Programs & copied data off old computer
6/8/2005 -- Computer started locking up
6/10/2005 -- Left on vacation for two weeks
6/25/2005 -- Started trouble shooting thinking it was the HD’s
7/12/2005 -- Replaced Maxtor HD’s with Western Digital, reinstalled XP
8/23/2005 -- Finally realized it wasn’t the drives or anything I did so I sent it back to Monarch
9/14/2005 -- Received computer, was told it was a bad power supply, reinstalled XP, all my pgms & copied data off old computer again
10/17/2005 -- Computer would turn on, but not boot up, after turning on & off several times it booted up. Next day, same problem so I left it on until I could get it repaired.
10/20/2005 -- Got RMA # to send it back again. Talked with Sterling, he suggested my upgrading my Abit motherboard to an Asus as he felt Asus was a better company. He also said they could send the parts to me and I could swap them out myself if I wanted. I told him I was a quadriplegic and have to depend on other people to help me with my hardware. At that point, he said he would see if he could get an on-site repair person to come out and do it for me, even though I did not pay for on-site repair. Since Sterling was doing this for me, I offered to pay for the upgrade of the motherboard, which cost me another $53. The on-site repair sounded like a good idea at the time, but the guy that came out, worked on it for two hours then told me he had to take it back to his shop to finish and promised to bring it back the next day working fine. Instead, when he it brought back, it was still not working and screwed up more than when he took it.
11/14/2005 -- Talked to Richard and tech support to set it up for me to send back.
11/21/2005 -- Sent it back to Monarch again.
12/5/2005 -- Received my computer back and a third time had to reinstall Windows and the rest of my software and copy all the data off my old computer. Once again, they told me it was another bad power supply.
My computer is still having some intermittent problems locking up like it did the first time. It's happened five times now since Dec. 16th.
I called Sterling and asked if he could give me a 3-year warranty on my computer for all the trouble I and my mother had to go through. She is in her upper 60s, and doesn't need to be hauling a heavy computer around. Not to mention opening it up to help me on the hardware side. Sterling told me he didn't know if he could do it or not and said he would check into it and get back to me. He never did. So I called again and he told me I would have talk with Chuck, I asked for Chuck's e-mail he said he didn't know it, but if I sent him the e-mail he would make sure to forward it on. I e-mailed Sterling twice and copied what I thought Chuck's e-mail would be, I never heard back from either one. I called to speak with Chuck, and he was unavailable so they put me in touch with Traci. I explained everything to her and asked for a 3-year warranty and she told me the best they can do was to add six months on my one-year. I pressed her on this, but she said, that was the best they could do. I asked if I can buy a 3-year warranty and what it would cost. She put me on hold for a while, came back and said she spoke with Sterling and told me normally it would normally be $79 but he told her they could give it to me for $60, which I ended up taking.
Monarch for the most part, fixed my problem, but in my opinion, for all the trouble, hassle, lost time, lost data and extra work I had to do with this computer they could have at least given me a 3-year warranty. Especially after spending over $1,400 with them. The way I see it, I've had my computer for over eight months now and have only gotten about 4 months of use out of it and those have not been consecutive! Eight months is a long time as fast as things change with computers, some of my stuff could already be considered outdated. I was going to buy another motherboard CPU memory combo from them, but I'm not so sure I will after this experience."
"Between Kevin, the technician who built my custom system, and Niki, the gal with the most pleasant phone voice I think I've ever heard, Monarch did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again."
"I bought a dual Opteron 280 system e/w 16 GB RAM & XP 64. It arrived exactly as they said ... "ready to plug in & use". This much RAM took several days to debug & burn in which was fine. Better them then me!
I use multi-threaded engineering software which makes full use of all 4 cores & most of memory for hours to days at a time. This computer is running this s/w flawlessly."
"I am reserving judgement until my system arrives.
There were issues of the system not being shipped on time, as well as communication issues on when the system would ship."
"i recently bought a furia amd desktop from this company and I would like to say that monarch was great the order was recived before xmas and I have had no problems sence.also I purchased a set of dual channel memory sticks and the same thing. the only problem is shipping.the package on the computer was great, the comp was in a box with normal foam and that box was in a bigger box with that expanding foam around it.but there only shipping choice fedex was terible both times if we did'ent go to the shipping house it wouldent have come in time.we had to cla about 5 time for each order to fedex to even get them to try."
" I built a new computer and purchased motherboard, processor, memory and video card from Monarch. Every thing worked as expected, prices were very competitive, every thing arrived in a very timely manner and I received E-Mail informing me of the status of my order as it was processed. It was a pleasurable experience dealing with Monarch and I would recommend Monarch to anyone."
"This is probably around my 6th time (maybe more) ordering from Monarch, and as always, I've had absolutely no problems. My order came a day before the expected arrival date, as it usually happens, and the packing is perfect.
I will definitely do business with them again."
"They have certainly impressed me!
I thought I had a problem with an item not shipped in time but it was and I even got a phone call asking if everything was satisfactorythe day after I posted my original review here (which in all fairness I completely removed). The follow up call and the way it was handled convinced me that this is a FIRST CLASS OPERATION!!!"
"Wanted a system configured instead of buying off the shelf at a retail store. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in my system (Athlon 3700, EVGA 7800 video card, single hard drive, floppy, modem, optical drive) but did not know which case/power supply, optical drive and a couple other things. I called Monarch and they walked me through the configuration and made a couple suggestions which saved me a little money. Placed order on 12/29/05 and from what I read, knew it would be about 10-15 business days. On about day 15 received a generic email saying there was a problem that would delay order. A week went by and I was starting to get a little worried but then got an email saying system was being sent. Received it yesterday, 1/30/06. Box was very well packaged. Opened case and cables were neatly tied/tucked away. All the manuals/extra cables etc. were included. Tried it out and everything seems to work great. I'm very happy with the system even though it did take about a month (I was anticipating about 3 weeks), I would use them again."
"On 12/27/2005 I made the mistake of purchasing a DFI LanParty NF4 SLI Expert Ultra-D motherboard from Monarch Computer. It was giving me random reboots and lockups, so I had to RMA it. They receive the package on 1/23/2006, then I call on 1/28/2006 and a guy says that he received the package on 1/27/2006 (downright lie). I e-mail them on 1/28/2006 complaining because I have yet to receive the RMA status. They respond on 1/30/2006 saying that they are busy because of the holidays (this is a month after the holidays people) and that they are working to get it back on schedule. Very irritated by being blown off, I post on Reseller Ratings and am contacted within minutes of posting my review and magically my RMA was "about to be shipped out," and that they upgraded it to overnight service. I really wonder how long it would have taken without the review. On 1/31/2006 my package is delivered to MN (I live in FL). I e-mail Shawn same day and he ignores the fact that the package was delivered to this random address. On 2/1/2006 I e-mail Shawn again, he never responds, I call and after probably 8 calls, they finally send out another motherboard overnight to the correct address. On 2/2/2006 I get home and find the Fedex door hanger stating that I either have to be home tomorrow to sign for the package or drive all the way out and get it. Tomorrow not only do I have to miss work and lose money from leaving early, but I have to waste a 1/4 tank in gas driving to the Fedex facility to pick up my package. Why do they request signature now, but not the first 2 times? Since I requested RMA, everything has gone wrong and Monarch seems to have done everything in their power to delay getting me a functioning motherboard. My purchase through them was a bad mistake, and I have never in my life been so irritated by a sorry excuse for a company. Buyer beware..."
"Low low prices, outstanding customer service and tech support. Fast shipping."
