"I purchased a crape myrtle from this shyster company after speaking at length to one of their reps. This was last October 2015. I made it clear that it had to be pink, when she suggested purple, and she was aware that I can't stand purple and it would not look good next to my house. She then they gave me the number to order from their site for the pink and the price was what I did pay. *The purple was actually $10.00 more . When the tree arrived it looked like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree in a cardboard box. I planted it and hoped for the best. Low & behold it just bloomed a couple weeks ago and it is PURPLE! The one color on this planet I despise the most. There was no packing slip that said that it was purple either or it would have been returned. Now, they will not give me a credit. BUYERS BEWARE. They are not member of the BBB (for obvious reasons). The internet is full of complaints about them and I have learned a very good lesson. No more internet purchases from substandard companies. I will do my research first. A complaint has been filed with the Attorney Generals office in Nebraska."
"First, know that the reviews on their website are cherry-picked. My negative review on the product page for the tree I purchased magically doesn't show up.
And beware that they're "guarantee" is that you have to pay half the price plus shipping for a replacement, but first wait 8 weeks. Nature Hills sent me 3 fruit trees. 2 looked great and one looked pretty sad. All their info online says the trees are deeply dormant so I put all three in the ground. Two weeks later I called Nature Hills to tell them that the tree was looking pretty dead. It sprouted a couple leaves at the very bottom - a tree's last ditch effort at making it. They told me to wait 6 more weeks for it to break dormancy. I called several times in that time, did a scratch test for them showing a dead trunk and they still refused to honor their "guarantee" until 8 weeks passed. So not only do they want me to pay their cost for replacing the tree, but it's now too late to plant bare root trees."
"Check the BBB first before purchasing anything from Nature Hills Nursery. The shear number of complaints against the company is testimony of how poor a company they really are.
I had customer service issues, guarantee/warranty issues, product issues, refund/exchange issues, service issues, and sales practice issues. In my opinion, Nature Hills should not be in the customer service industry!
I purchased a Chinese Wisteria Tree from Nature Hills. When the tree arrived, it looked dead. I immediately contacted Nature Hills and they said that the tree was dormant and to plant the tree and give it some time. I planted the tree immediately according to their direction and instruction. A week later I contacted Nature Hills again because the tree still did not have leaves. I did this every week for two months. I even sent them pictures of the tree, at their request, proving that the tree was dead. Nature Hills kept telling me to give it more time.
What they were doing was stringing me along until I was no longer in any type of warranty period. They even tried to blame the annual flowers that I planted at the base of the tree for sucking the life out of the tree! Crazy! The annuals were planted seven weeks later! Then, when I asked for a replacement or refund, they said that they would not warrant the tree and my only option was to purchase a new one and pay for the shipping as well! Nature Hills has quite the scam going on. What they seem to be doing is sending the customers that don't purchase additional warranty coverage dead trees then only offer them the option to purchase another tree and pay for the shipping as well! When they complain that the tree arrived dead, they string them along to make sure that they are out of the 45 hour warranty period. Then they string them along another few months and try to blame other factors for the dead of the tree. I would imagine that the customers that purchased an additional extended warranty coverage got the living trees. You can tell by the shear number of complains against Nature Hills that they have some serious fraudulent sales practices going on.
Avoid this company!"
"This company is nothing but a middle man scam business that sells plants without ever seeing what they sell. They advertise midwest grown trees but two of my trees came from Alabama. I was also told that some of their trees come from California which is not a midwest state. I bought 8 trees last fall and planted them as soon as they arrived. Not one of the trees planted show signs of life nor did they show signs of life when I planted them but was told that they were dormant. The company is willing the replace the trees at half the price of new plus shipping which cost almost half of what the trees cost. This is not a creditable company, do not waste your money on any products from this company!"
"Don't even consider buying from Nature Hills Nursery! The church wanted to line our driveway with the decorative flowering Okame Cherry trees. We had 31 families donate trees in honor and/or memory of loved ones, and planned a "Tree's for New Life " planting and dedication day. The 35 trees arrived dry and looked dead so I called Nature Hills who told me that the trees were just dormant and would show signs of life a few weeks after planting. During the planting numerous comments were made about the poor and dead appearance of the trees. I assured everyone that Nature Hills told me they were just dormant and would soon show signs of life. There were 8 that had leaves but on 5 of them the leaves shriveled up and fell off shortly after planting. Leaders of the church along with the help of our youth faithfully watered the 35 trees several times a week with trickle irrigation buckets. The rest of the trees never showed any signs of life. When I was able to finally talk to a live person, they ask me to cut into each tree and take pictures of the cut and send them in for review. Again after numerous calls and messages they finally agreed that the trees were dead but also stated that they died after planting. At that point they agreed to replace the trees for 50% of list price plus shipping, which was actually more than we paid originally. I wish I would have read the review before ordering from this company so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't make the same mistake we did. We will be planting again this Spring but the trees will definitely not be purchased from Nature Hills. "
"This company is horriable. I paid for a red oak tree in August of 2014 that was promised to be delivered in the Fall of 2014, it was not. Then it was promised in the Spring of 2015. When it arrived I planted it and checked it due to no foliage in mid June of 2015 and it was not green as it should have been. I contacted the company and they after emails and phone calls promised the tree in the fall of 2015. Again no tree and NO contact at any time since being paid for by the staff of inform of any reason for failure to do more than take my money. It is now Dec 2015 and I contacted them requesting a refund and they refuse and want me to pay ½ price to receive another dead tree. Stay away from them. This was the second dead tree purchased from them and I didn’t even try and get a replacement for the first one. "
"Do not trust this company! I ordered a tree online last May (2015). I was sent a tree that looked dead. I was told it was dormant. I followed their instructions and waited 8 weeks (they told me that it would take that long for it to leaf out). It never leafed out. I tried calling their number and every time I did, I could get no live person. The message always said that they were experiencing a high volume of calls. I finally got someone to contact me back when I emailed them and threatened complaining to the BBB (of which, it turns out, they are not apart of) I contacted them because I had paid for replacement insurance (what a joke)! I was told that a new one wouldn't ship until fall. So, I waited and waited and waited. I recontacted the person who had gotten back to me in the summer and she said they would ship late October or early November. It didn't happen. So, mid-November I contacted them again. This time I was told they had just gotten a freeze and that the trees were going to be dormant soon and shipping would start November 16. I contacted them once again and today I get a message that says because of my shipping zone they won't be shipping till spring. So, now I'm in the same boat - waiting. I am filing a second complaint with the BBB and will be finding a way to post on similar sites at this to get the word out. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!"
"Took my money, sent me nothing and keep lying about it being at some fairy tale shipping site ready to go out at any time. This is thievery and criminal activity and I have written my Attorney General. "
"We placed an order initially back in March. We called to cancel the order in early April, since we had not yet been charged for the order. When I called to cancel the order, Customer Service told me that they had no record of my order and that since there was no order, there was no need to cancel it. The very same day the charge hit our bank account. I called back to talk to Customer Service again about the charge, they said they would cancel the order, but did not give me a cancellation confirmation, and told me that it would be 7-10 days before we would get our refund. I called them again after 14 days and no refund and had to leave a message, but no one ever responded to our calls or emails. I filed a dispute with our bank to see if they could get our money back and Nature Hills told the bank that we never cancelled the order. Now that the bank was involved, customer service would no longer talk to me. Fast forward to July 1, (almost 3 months after the initial charge) I went online with the Better Business Bureau for their state and filed a complaint. The very next day we received an email from Nature Hills saying that they had tried to contact us numerous times via email and phone regarding our request, which was a bold-faced lie. To date, we are still out our money and have no idea when we will get it. Next step will be to file legal charges if we don't hear back from them soon."
"I ordered six plants from Nature Hills on 15 APR, with a guaranteed ship date of 7-10 days. The plants shipped separately, the first two (rose bushes (plants in dispute)) arrived 22 APR (the first day they were to ship). The last set (four burning bushes) did not ship until 7 May and did not arrive until 13 May (29 days after ordering, 22 days after the rose bushes arrived). Due to HOA rules I could not plant any of the order until all of it arrived as was ready. On 7 May I called and described my situation to Nature Hills and was told that if the rose bushes did not survive, due to Nature Hills shipping mistake I would receive replacement rose bushes free of charge. I gave the rose bushes two months to take, which is plenty of time. They did not, so on 1 July I called Nature Hills, described the situation and was told that a company representative would get back to me…this never happened. I then called on 7 July, spoke with a manager (Sheryl) who requested I send pictures of the rose bushes as well as a receipt that stated the shipping times. She would then forward it to the growing department and contact me with 2 business days (COB Thursday 9 Jul). This did not happen. I called again on Monday, 13 July, and was told that Sheryl only forwarded my information on Thursday (She held it for two days before sending it). I was told she was out of the office and would return my call as soon as she got in. I waited all Monday. Tuesday, and half of Wednesday before calling back. I was then told by another manager that the case had been decided by the two managers (growing department was never consulted) and that the best they could do was to offer the rose bushes at half off + shipping, for $90. I originally only paid $120 for these bushes. $90 is not half off. Also, these bushes could only ship in the fall (end OCT, beginning NOV), which does me no good, living in Denver, as it will have already frozen and I will be unable to plant these until spring, surely killing the replacements while waiting, recreating this issue all over again."
"NEVER USE NATURE HILLS, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. They did not ship what they said they would and when I called them on the first Customer rep said yes my order was wrong should have been 2-3 feet not 11". When I called back they just flat lied to me and said they should have been 11" (3 year old lilacs) Not on a bet. Just lied. Said I could send them back at my expense for a 50% refund. I went to the local nursery and got 3' lilacs for 1/2 the price. NEVER USE NATURE HILLS THEY FALSE ADVERTISE AND WILL LIE TO YOU WHEN YOU CALL."
"BEWARE OF THE PRODUCT WARRANTY AND GUARANTEE. READ THE FINE PRINT.
Ordered a Dawn Redwood tree over the winter. Tree shipped in a dormant state. Looked dead but no way of knowing really. Now June, tree never bloomed. No leaves. Nature Hills has no inventory. And they require you to pay 50% of todays price plus shipping. Think twice before you order. If they ship you a distressed or dead product, you're paying. "
"I will NEVER order from Nature Hills again! I ordered 6 plants; 1 came on time and was bone dry, 4 came late and were so small that my stomach turned over how much I paid, and one scheduled to ship in 7-10 days still isnt here after 23 business days. Ive called customer service 3 times and they can only tell me the order shows Ready To Ship. I recommend you save your time and money and order from Fast-Growing-Trees instead!!! SO VERY DISAPPOINTED. Ill cancel my order for the missing plant as soon as I can manage to get through to them on the phone again."
"I ordered a tree from this GOD FORSAKEN place and the other reviews were 100% correct, they sent me a f--ken stick in the mail. I will NEVER order a thing thru this place again. I will also post on facebook how bad this place is, maybe the word will get out how bad they are."
"I ordered two Bloomerang Lilacs. I received one in good condition and one looked dead. I did the scratch test. Dead. I tried to contact Nature Hills and it took me many attempts and 2 weeks to hear back from them. They wanted a photo of the dead plant. I did that the same day as they asked. Two more weeks and nothing. I tried several times to find out what is happening with them, but they simply don't respond. Finally, 5 weeks after I received the dead plant, they tell me that they want a photo of the scratch test, then they will send a replacement Lilac. Forget that! I have already ordered 3 new ones from another online nursery and they've been in the ground 2 weeks already. I'm finished with Nature Hills. Their customer service is nonexistent and I'm not a big fan of receiving dead plants in the mail."
